Did you hear that crunch?! 🍤🍤🍤 Many thanks everyone for joining me on one of the most delicious trips so far! Let me know what foods or places you’d like me to try next and I’ll make sure it goes on the tastiest foods list ever made 😍
Hey! Great vid per usual, that tempura looks absolutely incredible! In another thread you mentioned fish and chips, now I'm wondering what're the best fish and chips in Japan, whether/how much of a spin they put on it, etc
The shot looks extra crispy. I'm curious on what you use to shoot your videos. Do you mind sharing the info? Btw. Thanks for making the subtitles bigger. A lot easier to read now. Stay healthy and cheers from Philippines!
@@JunkFoodJapan Thanks for replying. Happy New Year to you and yours! Btw, did you get my comment for recommendations on your Christmas QnA vid? For some reason it doesn't show up on my end.
Another great video, Nic! I always thought tempura was very greasy, because I think they do it wrong where I live. But when I went to Japan years ago I was so surprised! And this looked and sounded very light and crispy, amazing! Small side note, I really appreciate that your voice is so clear.
Great videos mate! Very high quality. You can for sure see the influence from Chris in the thumbnail and detail in the videos! I like that alot as i believe he helped you alot when you wanted to start your channel. Good luck on your journey on youtube!
The ending shot is just beautiful! I can imagine nothing better than eating a gorgeous, expertly prepared Japanese meal, then wandering through the night down those dense and vibrant alleys looking for a cosy little izakaya. You're living the dream, my man!
Editing is on point mate, like how you mixed it up with the outro on this one. But you looked a bit stiff in the beginning mate, guess it's pretty nerve-racking huh? 😅 But I'm sure you'll slowly get used to it and it's only a matter of time till when you do. Overall, loved the video and I'm dreaming of eating that 1 kilo tendon. 🤤 Keep up the good work Nick!
Nicholas, your editors are either having way too much fun or taking it out on you, just saying😂 Did not see the chef's pun coming, loved it! So much humour packed in this video, and as always you make the dish sound so damn tempting!! Just wished you had filmed more of you eating that tempura because now I am left to wonder how long it took to finish it 🤣😅
I’m overdue for a trip to Sendai, absolutely adding this to my next trip!! Tempura oyster sounds delicious. No way I’m even trying a bowl that size myself, but good tempura is happiness.
Wow that bowl of tendon looked great. And reasonably priced too. We've been to a few great tempura places in Japan but it is hard to find cheap tempura. But it is like great sushi. It is a skill the chef takes a lifetime to perfect so that skill is worth paying for. Te te te ten is somewhere I will try and check out the next time we go to Japan. though. Tempura is one thing I try to make at home occasionally. It is impossible to get it like the Japanese tempura chefs but it is okay. Better than ordinary old fish and chips 😂
Watched this after the recent video, The BEST Wagyu in Tokyo with Abroad in Japan. Maybe you should look at the various food challenges, soba, gyoza, ramen, etc... and drag Chris along. Visits to dagashi shops would also be interesting.
Oh man that looks good. I just remember the last tempura restaurant I went to (once again I think it was a chain) in Nishi-Ogikubo? They brought out the tempura as it was fried so you didn't get it all at once (I've been to a similar restaurant in Umeda). The shishito was so spicy that I couldn't feel my tongue or taste anything after I ate it.
These videos are all so well put together, so well edited, it’s really incredible quality for such a new channel. I feel bad saying anything, even intended as constructive criticism… but I thought the music while you were eating and describing the meal was a tiny bit too loud and felt a bit intrusive. Maybe adjust the levels to foreground your voice more and the music less? I could be the only one who feels that way though. But this is a minor thing! A humble suggestion! You are great, please keep up the good work!
Love the feedback @Kevin Tynan we are only 4 shows in but seriously look forward to continuing this journey with you and all the other new found friends here.
Damn everything looks so good and mouthwatering even after I've eaten already! That oyster especially looked great, even if my personal experience with oyster resulted in a mild case of food poisoning
Oh man that looks so good. My mouth waters whenever I see beautiful fresh prawns.... BUT I don't like most seafood 😅 I'm not a picky eater but seafood is the one thing I don't like despite wanting to like it. Good thing you can tempura anything you like lol
Absolutely not @Schwantz Kopf it was too much for me for sure. But thanks for asking. Only thing I promise you is that I Nwill be honest here on the channel. Stay tuned for more.
@@JunkFoodJapan It's a pretty weird concept to me as a westerner, that fried food is expensive. I think it is something that one would need to experience to really understand.

How come you weren't in the video, Chris? Sendai is your turf!
@@juanpabloperezgomez4349 exactly, chris needs to proves his dominance 😂
Good thing he owns one lol
Chef Ueno's 'battered' pun was quality and deserving of recognition.
He puts as much love and care into his puns as he does his tempura

Thanks! The real trick is it's actually all green screen!
This channel is amazing for being so new! Make sure you guys review those delicius okonomiyaki!
I was wanting to do some Monya Yaki soon
I love the shameless shade you through at yourself in the editing 🤣
instead of trying to present yourself as an expert on everything in the filming.
If there's one thing I know it's...how much I don't know...
I can’t wait to go to Japan, adding more and more to the bucket list with this channel 😂
I actually really appreciate the editing on this video! It certainly added some amusing bits to it
Glad you enjoyed it! and welcome to the channel
Monster Ramen, Monster Gyoza and Wanko soba. Show @AbroadInJapan how a real man does it.

Just order A La Carte and enjoy the cuts you want, but I suggest getting the Crab and Oyster, with the ginger in between!
Yummy.. that looks amazing for someone not into seafood. Keep it up.. some day, I may have a pretty good list of Japanese 'junk' foods to try out..
Start taking notes or ? just subscribe to channel! @Habib Malik

I absolutely adore deep fried food in general and I cannot wait to taste real tempura
Wish we can visit soon...interesting that the 3,500 yen course menu seems to be missing from their English website...
Thanks for checking it out!
Oh man, I hope Chef Ueno has beds in that restaurant because it's lights out for me after I eat all of that tempura! #foodcoma
For real, I’ve taken on some tough opponents in my time and this dish is up there with them. At least it didn’t punch back!
Hope you managed to get some zunda shake in Sendai!
That's just great. Now I want Tempura!! (But Japan is still not open for tourists...)

The biggest thing Scotland and Japan have in common? Deep frying everything they can get their hands on 😂

How about something sweet? I'm very curious about things like pastry and ice cream in Japan.
That sounds like a plan, spring times come with sweet things for sure
I see why Chris moved to Sendai now
5:04 bro its literally deep fried???
Yeah I figured it out
did the 1 kg include the rice? doesn't seem that impressive if it does tbh.
Of course it did
Wait, this isn't diners drive-ins and dives...
It's awesome food in Japan and if you end up over eating then it's junk for sure! welcome to the channel @BootStreams
I don't quite understand why tempura is considered expensive. Is the batter someway special? It does just look like lightly battered and fried food.

@@JunkFoodJapan It's a pretty weird concept to me as a westerner, that fried food is expensive. I think it is something that one would need to experience to really understand.
