Another familiar face from the good old WT days transitioned to DCS. :D

Man, I just found your channel searching for a Mirage 2000 video and you are now my favorite M2k pilot.

    Lovely gameplay and great commentary.

Just don't bother with gazelle mistrals. The reason you were losing lock is because the gazelle just enters a hover as soon as they hear a lock tone which makes you lose lock. Mistral gazelles are completely harmless if you don't fly over them, I personally just ignore them. If you absolutely have to engage one, make sure to not use Fox-1`s or 3s as they're completely useless against gazelles. The mistrals have rubbish ccm so generous pre-flaring and you should be fine.

Yeah I’m fully aware of all that, learnt the hard way regarding Fox-1/3s lol but I wasn’t sure if it was a Huey or something that might be worth taking out.
Mirage’s target recognition doesn’t seem to work on helis - well, not the Gazelle anyway, I think I’ve had it work with Hinds a couple of times.
Only included the clip because I had to laugh, it was getting late and I was looking for an excuse to get to bed anyway lol

The way your plane pitches when you get shot down is exactly like the ukraine war su25 clip of the guy ejecting

Yeah it does look pretty similar - minus the fact the camera in DCS seems tied to the chair rather than the pilot lol

Mmm m2k, also did you know 530IRs are outpreforming the R-73 in DCS by a good margin, wish i could post the comparison clip I have 😂 Also Mirage F1 radar is unotchable right now, the “ground clutter” on its radar is just a video on loop

at this point I think DCS need something like Maze so all the devs dont have to touch radars ever because they seem not be able to implement them at all.

I’ve said before to people that the biggest difference between WarThunder and DCS is that WarThunder whilst more basic generally speaking, has everything that can be applied universally, applied universally.
One unified developer imposing all the stats and variables might make certain things wrong in one direction, but you’re unlikely to get other things wrong in the other direction by enough to cause an issue.
DCS’s weakest point is how things like radar performance can vary depending on the developer which can make certain things better or worse than they ought to be, which combined with how much variance there is for all the other modules too can open up performance gaps between things that shouldn’t exist to that extent at all.
WarThunder’s flight models will never compare but I think they’re starting to overtake DCS when it comes to radar wave modelling and missile physics - things like clouds blocking IR are still missing from DCS but WarThunder has had it for years.

I remember watching a video showcasing the F1EE’s use of the 530F and thinking it held lock alarmingly well after my experience with them on the F1 in WarThunder lol, but then it’s hard to tell which game has it right and which doesn’t.

@@Bullet4MyEnemy Honestly at one point ED should just threaten to stop supporting modules that cant keep up. At least for the stable release.

The Mirage F1's radar is not a Doppler radar, if it doesn't have a variable stop band filter (which doesn’t seem to be the case) then it is not notchable.
The Cyrano IV is still very basically modelled and the main weakness of the F1 in DCS but this is probably a correctly simulated behavior.

Should be the same then - maybe you’re missing the switch during start up?
It’s on the right edge of the right console near your countermeasure panel/INS etc, there are 4 switches including one with a cover on it, it’s the second most forward of the 4 and controls audio warnings.
