As many have said here, it's moving slower than it is supposed to. I played it on Steam and it moves faster.

Is it just me, or does the gameplay seem slower on Mike's PC? I played this on the Switch and it ran faster for me.
I agree. When I was playign the Steam version, it was not as slow as it seems from Mike's stream.
ps4 version seems way faster

I'd venture a guess that the music sounds not-quite-NES, because the sound set here is more comparable to the Japanese Castlevania III, Akumajou Densetsu. It had an extra chip in the cartridge that added more sound channels. It is not present in the US release, so the music was simplified. This is pretty standard knowledge among Castlevania fans, but if you didn't know go look up the soundtracks for Castlevania III and Akumajou Densetsu and compare.
His criticisms can be slapped onto the entire NES castlevania trilogy, he just has rose tinted glasses to cover them up 🤣
For the record, i love NES castlevania. On a binge atm, just finished Simons Quest...was better than I remembered

Just a hint: beat nightmare mode (slightly harder mode of the game without zengetsu in your team) and you’ll get the true final level of the game. Hope you try it! See ya!

Wow, like others said, the game is running way too slow on your computer. I played the Steam version, and it runs a lot quicker than this. Still in awesome game though.

Ever played One Unit Whole Blood or simply BLOOD (1997) for DOS?
It's an old school first person shooter in the Duke Nukem 3D engine so it's got a few awkward quirks but I'm thinking it could be pretty entertaining for you to try out.
I want to play both of those. Hopefully I can get to them eventually.
That should be easy enough to get for cheap on GoG.com and Steam, just keep in mind you'll probably have to find a way to properly set the audio levels through text configuration when you do.

I watched other steam streams and it was faster there too. Strange, it could be the upload or it could be his PC is running it slow, but that would be strange.

My favourite Castlevania games are the OG and SCIV. OG Castlevania represents to me what an 8 bit Castlevania experience is while IV is the 16 bit experience. I know I'm a pussy for saying this though Dracula's Curse is just too hard for me to enjoy.

If you think the game is supposed to be this slow, you're wrong. This game isn't supposed to be this slow. I know because I've played this game myself on the PS4, and it's a bit faster. I don't know what platform you played it on and how you ended up playing a slower version of the game, but it's a shame you had to experience the game this way.
The NES Castlevania games are full of annoying 'fuck-you' traps and bullshit enemy placement. This game is more fun to me. Although Castlevania IV on SNES is still awesome.
