Had Rondo of Blood been released in the west back in 1993 then the vast majority of gamers would hold this up as the best vania game ever. The fact that many STILL hold it in this regard without any rose tinted spectacles of nostalgia says it all. This is(by far imo) the best Castlevania, also the soundtrack is godlike(only matched by SOTN). Even the artwork is the best! The best retro streamer playing the best castlevania. Gold!
The cover art is great, Richter Belmont is flipping off all those shitty bats.
Theres a part on stage 2' that if you fall down a pit you land on the ferryman and he takes you straight to stage 3' without even fighting the boss.
That happened to me on accident when i first played the game and it was an excellent surpise. Its how i found out anout stage 3' and i never faught the skeleton boss until much later :)

Mike, you should try Castlevania Chronicles for the Playstation 1. It's a difficult but fun game. Plus, it inlcudes the original version of the game that came out for the Sharp X68000
not to mention you can whip in 5 directions left right down down left and down righrt

That fight on the PSP remake is so good!
I really enjoyed the PSP version.
Only downside was why did it have to be exclusive to the PSP

Oh man this game would have saved the sega cd. Snatcher levels of love it would have gotten

Yes, you can get to 5’ (alternate) from 4’ (alternate) but both exits to 5’ will lead to 5 until you beat the game. Mike did not have to go to 4 (standard).
Between the top (standard) and bottom (alternate) paths, every stage has an alternate exit. If you are on the top, standard path the alternate exit leads to the next stage on the bottom, alternate path. If you are on the bottom, alternate path then you need to find an alternate exit to stay on that path or else you get dumped back on the standard path. The one exception is 5’ where both exits to 5’ will take you to 5 until you beat the game.
In 4’ all Mike had to do was walk right instead of jumping to his death and he would have been in 5’.

Rondo of Blood is one of the games I really want to play, but it's pretty much impossible to legally play it as you can't add anymore points to the Wii Shop Channel and importing a PC Engine Super CD System is expensive.
Now, the TG-16 mini is definitely a solution.
It makes one question how fierce of a Vampire killer Richter Belmont is when he gets hurt having a frog jump on him lol.

I laughed waaaaay too hard at the key dropping down the hole around 56:30. And I'm sorry for that.
I love the sound when richter dies in this. “Ahhhhhhhggggg!” Same thing the player says most of the time 😉

I really like all the details they put into the backgrounds and foregrounds. Amazing game from start to finish.
I got 100% on my copy a year ago, and I've played it at least once a week since... I love this game.
Super Castlevania is my favorite, it'd be nice is Konami would make Rhondo of Blood more accessible, I'd like to play it but I'm not gunna spend $800 dollars to play it, it should be on all of the digital stores
At 5:40, wish Mike had used holy water instead.....He could have just rode the ground form of skulls and thrown holy water on the ground as it walked around.
The game saves every time you finish a stage.
Mike asks one of the chatters why he would stream Dracula X for SNES. I think it would be cool to see him show the differences in the game. My understanding is that the SNES game Dracula X takes place in an alternate universe to the main Dracula X storyline as show in this game. I like that Castlevania is as complicated as comic books.
The boom part is cryptic but I found it without looking it up

Mike, I'd love to see you play Symphony of the Night and a few of the other Metroidvanias. I'd recommend Circle of the Moon, Aria of Sorrow, and Order of Ecclesia.

Why is the sound so quiet? I had to turn the video volume and my computer volume all the way up to max.

Can't Richter do awesome whip attacks? Like a forward dash, uppercut, and backflip?
no just a simple backflip when you double jump. no uppercut. no dash. he has an item crash you can use for like 30 hearts when you have no item. also there's this weird thing where if you double tap forward right after pressing attack, your whip extends a little bit.
Maria has a special move that she can do for free and it's either hadouken or shoryuken (I forget). Anyway it can kill bosses in like two hits.
vacantplanets thanks for clarifying, I know richter can do these tricks on SOTN, thought Mike was making the game harder.
Castlevania 4, Bloodlines, Symphony of the night or Rondo!? Which is best and why!? I love All Castlevania games but I do have favorites.

The 8 directional whip is where it's at. Shout out to Castlevania 3 tho.
Rondo of Blood & Symphony of the Night for me.
Rondo > Eccelsia > Circle > Aria > Portrait > IV > Symphony > Bloodlines. My opinion.
I still love Symphony and probably one of the most groundbreaking Castlevania games, but it has balancing issues. The later RPG Castlevania improved and learned from their mistakes, IMO.

the sound effects were so bad in this tho, especially the silly ass grunts from some of the enemies, wtf was that about? i hope they maybe 'enhanced' the SE's a little on the ps4 version.

this game is on cd so there's iso not rom (chd if you use emulator and you also want to save some space on your hdd)

If you're going to do modern and retro games play Galactic Attack and Dragon Quest 11. Play some games that people can easily buy themselves too.
