It shows that in reality, making a record is similar to making a movie. Everyone thinks it's all excitement and fun filled energy, when it's really pretty tedious and tiring
Japanese guys: "Are we cool, hip, funny and meeting the requirements of thus yet?" Steve: "um.....well.........if you think about it.......uh.........no."
I love Steve but if you're paying for your own recording at Electrical Audio, Studio A costs $600 per day and Studio B is $400 per day. Then Steve is $900 per day. I see so many independent bands go with Steve in Studio B and it just seems like an incredible misallocation of resources. A staff engineer like Jon San Paulo is $150 a day. Steve isn't doing any "producing." His work and insight is strictly technical/mechanical in nature. Give me Studio A and San Paulo for a grand total of $750 per day plus tape. These guys (and so many others) paid $1300 a day plus tape for Steve and Studio B just to have the "Albini" name on their record. Not to mention having to jog up 2 flights of stairs between takes to get into the control room.
this is absolutely fascinating, watching steve go to work.
Great job guys thanks for sharing this riparadise Steve \m/

There is no greater pressure than recording live to tape.
I’d want Steve to change the oil in my car if I recorded there
