This is like saying did Cedar Point ruin Top Thrill Dragster. It's a overlysimplistic view. You can't ruin a ride that was already hugely problematic and unreliable. These were necessary overhauls to improve it overall. If it were me, I'd just stop comparing the two so much directly and consider it a new coaster experience completely.

Rode it over the weekend, and agree with most of what you said. The parks biggest concern is guest satisfaction. The downtime on this thing was a nightmare. And guests were frustrated, especially returning guest. I live 10 miles from Pigeon Forge, so I know firsthand. The lift hill is still faster than most traditional lift hills, but the original lift hill is sorely missed :(

I think it’s better like this than it being closed for good, I really still miss the launch then.

Especially the launch in 2016! As one employee referred to it, the Golden Year.

I'll wait a few months before jumping to conclusions yet. Its march, new trains etc.

I'll be back up in the summer, we will see if my opinion changes.

I think the lighter trains also make the ride lose quite a bit of momentum going into the quad down

I feel the same, however I’ll have to give it another shot in the summer.

I haven’t been out to ride it since the conversion to I box track but I’ve gotta say that reliability is a huge factor in guest satisfaction. Out of my two days spent at Dollywood, I wasn’t able to ride it at all on the first day. Reliability is super important. Just take a look at Hagrid’s when it opened.

It was a smart move to do, the ride was a literal money pit. They kept trying to do temporary fixes until they realized this was the best option.

It needs to be 200 foot tall and RMC needs to finish the conversion with Iron Gwazi intensity inversions. At last years speed, the elements were very awkward compared to when it opened. You were ejected out of you seat at the top on both hills. Until then, it's the weakest RMC conversion in the US and another family coaster at Dollywood.
