Too bad they couldn't make the launch work for lift hill. it made this coaster singularly unique among the RMC coasters (I think). This is a great ride though. Somewhere on youtube is a good video about all the challenges its faced.
Can RMC come in and retrack El Toro like this and give it new trains? Cause that'd be amazing. Still intense but actually smooth and not endlessly getting worn out harsly.
Other than New Texas Giant, it's the only RMC without an inversion or overbank past 90°. Rumors say the quad was originally proposed as a stall but the park decided against inversions to keep it more appealing to kids.
I really hate how Dollywood completely ruined one of the best roller coasters in the world. The increased reliability was NOT worth ruining the experience, period. Even if the rest of the ride is still the same, removing the launch ruined the overall experience and should not have been done. Dollywood needs to fix this immediately.
As someone who has ridden both versions, I can say with confidence that the chain lift absolutely did not ruin Lrod. I went to Dollywood on a Sunday with very light crowds, and even with most trains being sent out half-full, it was still running EXACTLY the same as when it had a launch. Yes, the launch was fun, but it was far from the best moment of the ride. Dollywood tried everything they could to get the launch running reliably, and nothing worked. It’s a shame some enthusiasts have to be so ungrateful about an objectively positive change that was pretty much inevitable. Personally, I’d rather ride Lightning Rod than stare at it like it’s a giant wooden lawn ornament because the launch is having issues.
I have been watching your channel for a few months, this is the best coaster I have seen. Time to go to Dollywood!

It’s one of the most intense rides I’ve ever ridden. It’s awesome. I’ll miss the launch a little, but it still looks great!

Almost all wooden made roller coasters are fast!
It starts out slow, but after that first drop, it picks up speed fast!❤

There's nothing special about that coaster now.

The chain is better than the stupid mag lift being broken down every 20 minutes and it’s still just as fast and intense
