Remember how the films Barbie are Oppenheimer were released at the exact same time and people would watch both films back to back? Well, the same thing can be said with these two parks. People enjoy them both so much that when they visit Virginia, they're going to make it a priority to visit both instead of just one over the other.

That’s a fantastic analogy! Very insightful!

Fun fact. Twisted Timbers had the highest number of riders in 2023, the ranking was Twisted Timbers, Racer 75, and Dominator were the top 3 ridden coasters in 2023 according to the park.

In fact it’s sometimes more of a symbiotic relationship. If one opens a big new ride and folks go to that park for that ride they may go to the other too while they are in the area.

These are excellent points. Just looking at myself, I have spent multiple days at both parks on 3 different trips within 5 years, and these parks are a very long ways from home. If this area had only 1 of the 2 parks, I would be less likely to venture to the area so often. Having 2 very different but equally awesome parks in the same area will draw people to both.

One part that I do think they are "competing" in is ride variety, seeing how out of both line ups only Lochness and Anaconda are similar ride types between both parks, potentially both parks attempt to outdo each other to have the best lineup in VA
    also anaconda gang for life

Busch and Kings Dominion absolutely benefit from each other. I think your opinion is spot on man. Are you a local boy? You've focused on BGW and KD a lot lately which I enjoy these are both my home parks BGW being 15 mins away and KD is an hour further I've had passes to both for countless years and go to each for completely different reasons. Also like you said anaconda isn't going anywhere anytime soon and back lot being retheme should definitely be in the cards

Thanks! I grew up in Virginia and spent all of my childhood there. I am very familiar with those two parks. In 2021 I moved to FL, so now I have the other Busch Gardens as my home park. BGW and KD will always be my favorites.

When making predictions, its more important to look at what other parks in the chains are doing. Busch Gardens Williamsburg and Tampa generally mirror each other when it comes to thrill rides.

i feel like after the wing KD could get a mack multi launch or stryker that would eat through crowds be a crowd pleaser be reliable and add a launch looper and enthusiasts wouldn't dissapointed by this

I don’t believe that either park is better, they’re both awesome and I think the whole idea of them “at war” is kinda stupid

Kings Dominion needs to revive Volcano 🌋 turning it into an S&S Terrain Axis Coaster with a new detailed Volcanic mountain and Canada's Wonderland needs to cancel their new coaster then get a different one by B&M or redesign the layout because they're talking about ripping off Volcano The Blast Coaster from Kings Dominion. It's none of their business to take ideas from other parks no matter If Canada's Wonderland and Kings Dominion are owned by the same owner, it's still stealing. If they want to add the lift hill on the side of Wonder Mountain, that's fine but they can't make the coaster launch out of Wonder Mountain giving it the Volcanic theme or that will be infringement copyright. Canada Wonderland needs to redesign the layout and add a different coaster by B&M like a Flying Coaster or hell, B&M or hell, a B&M Ski Coaster due the fact Canada is known for Skiing since Canada is a ski destination over a bunch of large skiing resorts up in the Canadian mountains which makes a great addition for the park with a lift hill. Not trying to sound offensive if you're a Canadian, but most Canadians today in both the theme park business and animation are stealing and ripping off ideas from other people's work, which is why I think they're full of S**t because They're a bunch of Thieves and for now I'm starting to hate Canada's Wonderland because they're stealing from Kings Dominion Volcano The Blast Coaster revving it at their park which is BS.

There is a certain prediction channel that drives me insane with his shallow childish take on how the business works. Says something along the lines "this park NEEDS x kind of attraction to bring in the crowds" but then you look back at the history of annual attendance and its relatively flat for most parks. Example would be Cedar Points attendance stays flat regardless of attraction that year. So the entire theory of build a 30 million dollar coaster and they will come doesn't work. Parks are not in competition with each other they are in competition with other forms of entertainment, Taylor Swift concert, family cruise, ect...

While I’ll never throw shade at a channel to their face. I agree certain channels know how to capitalize on unrealistic predictions to increase viewership.

Sea world parks compete aganist Disney and Universal only. If Sea World parks competed aganist Cedar Fair they would have kept Sea World of Ohio. The old Busch Ent before they became Sea world ent decided that Disney and Universal even Legoland customers is what Sea World wanted because they spent more and more family friendly then Cedair Fair or Six Flags.
