This is a great mower.Only mower i have used since 2017.I have the SDX version now.Never any issues. As long as you keep the bracket bolts tight they last a long time on the old version. Also its not a heavy duty mower so you have to take it easy on the poor girls and she will take good care of you!
I have welded mine a few times and they never cracked again 700 hours and strong.

I Have a 2017 Hustler Raptor . No SD , No XD, Fastrack , Just a Raptor ! 23 HP Kawasaki ! And Honestly Besides keeping the oil Changed and Air Filter Blown Out I Hadn't done anything But Pump the tires up and Mow,, about 6 acres worth ! But recently The Deck belt , Drive belt was constantly getting chewed up , or breaking or flying off ! and the Hydro's were getting weak ! and their not " Serviceable" or able to Change the Fluid ,,,, Well That's BS ! With Very little outta pocket cash , I jacked it up , Removed Both Hydro Pumps , Put the worst on my shop table and Opened it up ! Took A LOT of Pictures Cleaned it out , replaced a few O rings , Made all the Gaskets in Both Pumps , Filled with New Rotella Hydro 40W , Replaced all the old Broken Brackets with the kit you Used , Straightened , welded , fixed , New belts , Complete rebuild and reinforced the whole deck , Spindles , Took The Plastic shields of the bearing , drilled and Tapped for grease zerks , Blades , Tubes ! And I've got Better than Brand new Mower for about $400.00 for everything ! Love it !

Wish I had my 54" JD again... The Hustler Raptor SD 54" is horrible. If the transaxle brackets don't brake... it's the bolts that mount the transaxle motor loosen up and fall out... which jam up the belt and melt the cheap plastic pulley fan....if they used real steal and not cheap metal it might bend,,,, but just sheering/snapping apart. I have also had pulley washer brake... really cheap crappy material... I already installed a few of the "upgraded brackets"... 2 snapped several months ago... had to really mig weld it back together... and of course another new belt because when bolts brake,,, it chews up the belt

A few things... you don't have to tinker with the deck belt to deal with the drive belt. It's pretty easy to do once you do it once or twice. Also check your battery box. They are part of the frame and crack. Lastly, you don't have to buy the brackets if you have a welder and a few pieces of scrap angle around. Oh, also add a cross piece in the rear going from side to side. Let me know if you want a pict of this brace and what paint to match.

Good Idea on the brace. I will add one. Did you see if it is possible to add one to the front as well? What paint did you use?

@@Frontpagefab I like Rust-Oleum Farm & Implement Caterpillar Yellow. Tractor Supply has it. I've also used the same color in other brands... they are, OK... The cross brace is just a piece of bed frame I had laying around. Oh, you know you can run 22" tires on the rear and run them really low for a nicer ride?

@@georgesimpson3113 Thanks. I keep a few sizes of angle iron on hand, so making the brace is not a problem.

That's crazy..looking at your video because mine put me down yesterday, and mine are broken and cracked in the exact spot yours was.. it was like I took a picture 😄 can you tell me what the price of the bracket kit was? Hustler should have sent out a re call...BAD BUSSINESS!!! ...fool me once...

When they bent the thin metal they should have seen this coming. The cracks are at the bends. Welding reinforcing plates on each.

In removing the rear brackets, was it difficult to remove the gear release that slides through the bracket? How is that removed? Thanks for a great video!

Not at all, they are held in place with 2 pins. Pull them and the arms lift off and slide out the back.

Knowing what I know now, no. Aside from this issue, it has been a good mower, but these brackets breaking should not have happened at 200 hours.

Thieves. I’ve bought 7 drive belts because of this bracket issue. They finally have a recall and I can get brackets put on but have to pay $500 for labor. Hate this company, stuck with this mower.

Yea, we are making due with it. I'd like to upgrade at some point. I have learned that these mowers are cheap for a reason... they use cheap parts.
