With two of the Marines currently stationed at the lithium mining site, the rest of the three Marines at Jamestown Base decide to launch a counteroffensive in an attempt to draw the invading cosmonauts out of the base. The resulting skirmish leaves the nuclear reactor malfunctioning, with it beginning to overload.

The gun splatter on the mask would not happen, it all exits through any puncture site and all your body fluids go straight to gasses.
The reverse happens in steel pressure suits, the very high water pressure debones your skeleton and forces any soft tissue into your steel helmet, through the tiniest pinhole, anywhere on the suit. All it needs is a hole, large enough for molecules of H2O to pass through.

Like, seriously, remember how SEALs storming Patilla Field in Panama decided to not take any rifles with them? Because pfffft no way these dumbass panams could possibly spot us ELITE COMMANDOS approaching the hangars!
And remember, those aren't really grunts, they're aviators pressed into the role of infantry because the US needed a few rifles on the Moon RIGHT NOW and these were the only astronauts with any infantry training at all. Sure, every marine a rifleman yadda yadda yadda but these skills are perishable, if you don't drill them you lose them. Plus, the environment is *incredibly* different, most infantry training would give you bad habits for the Moon: for example, most soldiers rely heavily on their hearing, but on the Moon *there is no sound*, so you literally can't hear the other guys coming ; Your peripheral vision is heavily limited in the suit, too, and you really can't "look around" without turning your entire body.

If people can neglect locking out controls before crawling into deadly factory equipment, I bet some Marines could start to look arround less than they should because they have to turn like 50kg of suit every time they do.
And so, five years into the future, Vance's death will be the cause of USMC drill instructors yelling at recruits every time they get lazy like that :P
But as I wrote above, the writers probably didn't go that granular when considering the choreography of the entire thing, so it's just fun speculation.

They should behave pretty much the same as they do on Earth, but without the pressure wave (because no atmosphere).
