It reminds me of the chared corpse of Vladimir Komarov, Ironic because they switched, instead of the Soviets looking in disgust of what they did, it's the Americans.
I feel like S3 has missed a trick with Helios being a US company; I felt like it would have been far more interesting if the private enterprise had mirrored Virgin Galactic and they'd had a British eccentric billionaire running the private mission to Mars. Perhaps they'd have Ed hired as commander but with said Billionaire as #2 being overly enthusiastic and inexperienced, but with the British Government also being involved and has Ed attempting to placate both parties.
Didn't the apollo 1 incident happen in this timeline as well? I thought nasa learned their lesson in this timeline as well, but apperiently they still use pure oxygen.
It's nice how they development Dr. Mayakovsky character. From a cold hearted doctor who want everybody court martialed to a still cold hearted doctor but willingly sacrifice so Kelly could properly deliver her baby.
Honestly he didn't strike me as cold-hearted in this scene. He was right: homicides are legally bound to be investigated, and their authors trialed, including those that are accidental or happen due to insufficient caution / bad performance. An unwilling / imprudent homicide is still a criminal offense. Meanwhile, Webster was "apologizing" for her massive, trigger-happy screw-up with a smile on as if it was no biggie. It definitely would've gotten me angrier than what Mayakowsky looks like here.
My take has been that they are trying to make him a Russian version of Leonard McCoy. He's certainly a bit cold and cantankerous in season 2 and part of season 3, but by the end of that season and into season 4 he has the same sort of homey charm that Bones did in the original series. He even asks Alex if he wants to play chess.
The female astronaut just thinks she can pull it off by saying it was a mistake. Jesus, is this happened in real life she should have spent the rest of her life in solitary confinement
That woman was one of the most incompetent character in the show. She's like dumb af. Before she shot, she had started freaking out and yelling in english to soviets so they'd understand english if it was louder. Not even these, but she shot waay earlier, when those dudes meant literally no danger. I was honestly hoping that she dies.
US soldiers shooting unarmed people, no surprise, that was her training, or maybe she's looking for a police career, so she already has an excuse for when she kills a black person "by mistake". I imagine if it were the opposite, there would be a huge international commotion.
Season 3: . The years 1989 to 1991 are decisive for the east and west.; . in the east, the berlin wall collapses, however, germany remains separate; in the ussr, Gorbachev's reforms have a positive result, waning the nationalist wave, and strengthening the socialist state; China rises as a great power in the communist world facing the ussr and its space program; .in the West, a deep social and financial crisis destroys jobs and generates discontent, in Western Europe, ultranationalist groups ascend, creating difficulties in any rapprochement with the East; in the us the abyss is more evident, and the answer to the demonstrations is the coercion and militarization of the police; . in 1993 the US strengthens its ties with nato, bringing Israel into the alliance, as well as creating a new alliance in the far east against China and its allies, which stresses the ussr and its allies to move to contain nato expansion and gather new allies such as Egypt and Syria; . in 1994 the ussr once again surpasses the USA with the landing on mars, as well as the completion of the almaz military space station and the dismantling of the support network for nationalist movements within the ussr, with the victory of Boris Yeltsin's arrest; . due to the financial crisis, NASA is stagnant from projects since 1989, until the Soviet landing on Mars, at the request of President Clinton, NASA receives the mission to overcome the Soviet success, as well as, provide the USA with a capable of surpassing the almaz . on the moon, jamestown and zvezda share mining areas and support each other, due to budget cuts, flights to jamestown are reduced, becoming dependent on Soviet supply pods; new bases appear on the moon, built by ESA and China, and negotiations begin to create a common body that unites the lunar bases in a single lunar city.
Gorbachev’s reforms revive the USSR? I was hoping that would happen, but the Brezhnev rule had left the country too hollowed out by corruption, alcoholism and falsification. Revive it by reforms would be like riding a dead horse.
Interesting and I do wonder how come there are no East German Polish Bulgarian Cosmonauts in the show. 1978 Sigmund Jähn. They would have been at Zvezda Moon base Russian Ukranian Cosmonauts

As an american I’m offended here that this show in s1 and s2 let soviets not only WIN but also make Americans the violent aggressors in s2. I have a feeling this show is taking jabs at nasa and Americans and making soviets look cooler by getting to moon first but also be the peaceful one!

I think you’re overreacting here. The Americans did shoot first in the show. The way this scene plays out has nothing to do with real world events that happened years later.
Bro Russia has invaded Georgia in the last decade, and now Ukraine, because the threat kd them getting so close to NATO. I won't explain the whole thing, but you can easily look up why Russia was provoked into doing so.
I haven't seen the show, is there an explanation as to why there's gravity in that base? Is there some sort of anti-gravity pseudoscience explanation at work or some kind of realistic centrifuge or something?
