Jeremy Jeremy Well, you want to talk about expensive? The LC cost 84k in the US, on my country it cost 149k and still is a good seller because a lot of the people who can afford this kind of prices prefer it over any German, British (Indian) or US brand car. Of course we have more options here, we can have the 5.7 Gas V8 but the most populars are the 4,2 in-line six single turbo diesel Intercooled and the 4,5 Twin turbo diesel V8. There is a saying here about The Land Cruiser “ for those who do not change with successful” talking about the pretenders who drive a Range Rover or similar just to look fancy or rich even when we all know it will broke down in a short while and will have almost zero resale value after a few years.

To add to the confusion-In Australia an SUV is a 2WD or AWD vehicle. The Landcruiser is called a 4x4 as it's designed for off road driving. We wouldn't call this an SUV.
@Ackj 375718 And we have three Landcruiser models in Australia. The 70, Prado and 200. Looking at the US Toyota site, they don't sell the poverty pack base model 200 series. Used here by farmers, retirees, police and other government agencies.
@Ackj 375718 Yep, the LC150 is what we call the Prado. In Europe they just call it the Landcruiser (they don't sell the series 200 there except in Russia and surrounding countries). I see that in the US they sell the 4Runner instead.
@Ackj 375718 We don't get the 4Runner here (used to as a grey import) so don't know what they're like. Toyota overkill the Australian market. They also sell the Fortuna here. What country are you in?
Land Cruisers are great, I just wish they weren’t exclusively ‘luxury’ vehicles in the U.S. IMO they need a true utility base model with cloth interior and just the basics like they do with the LC200 in international markets
Ha! Thanks, Mark Johnson. Some days we have more outtakes than we'd like to admit. LOL Chris doesn't know the model of his sunglasses, as they were a gift, but they're made by Polo. Thanks for watching!
If $ wasn't an issue, I would have one. I have a LX450, the last solid front axle cruiser. It is definitely lacking in cup holders. Toyota....best auto maker.
Can’t do a land cruiser review without making it perfectly clear that the best thing about them is that they are literally indestructible. Absolutely standard for people to buy these new and drive them to 250,000 miles or more before trading them in (and still get close to $10,000 in some cases).
One Man On sounds unlucky to me. We put 140,000 on a ‘98 then traded it in for an ‘05 that I took to 270,000 before trading it in for my FJ Cruiser last year. Never once have been left stranded.
We have and had land cruisers all our lives.. Honestly hand on heart won't exchange for nothing. Recently we only have the 90 series 100 120 150 200 Excellent trucks ..
C Man I own the TRD but make no mistake the Land Cruiser is on another level and has more power. This thing tugs the 4runner and sequoia like it’s on ice😎
Great review from a channel new to me. Thank you for taking the time to actually demo some of the features (even as a brief insert) rather than just run through them verbally. Many people may not know what they are. Keep it coming.
Thank you, hughfh. That's why we do it. We review different vehicles every week and are still stumped by some of the features listed on the monroney (window sticker) until we research and figure it out. We appreciate your comments and hope you'll check out more of our videos. There's more to come. Thanks for watching!
Hard sell for me when you consider the Sequoia is similar but much less expensive, at least in the US. Is the landcruiser really worth 35k more than the Sequoia?
Bill Kingman if you want what the land cruiser offers. Many car buys isn’t what you need but what you want. No one needs leather. No one needs a radio in the car. There are many thing no one needs.
Keynesian Economics on the current 2016+ yes the approach/departure angles are worse. 2008-2015 LX’s, the approach/departure angles are the same or better due to AHC. Wheels are easily swapped out for 18” Tundra or 200 series LC wheels. After that you have a vehicle which is equally as capable as a 200 series but with a nicer interior. Additionally all 2008+ LX’s have AHC which allows for an array of suspension settings from in the cab, the U.S. LC doesn’t get this. The majority of LX’s and LC’s sold in the U.S. aren’t used for exploring. There’s a fair amount of people who buy an LX secondhand in the U.S. for exploring due to availability. They sell more LX’s here than LC’s making them more abundant.
a a sure does. All the land cruisers and lx 570’s from 2008 to current have the 5.7. They changed the transmission along the way, the newer (I think from 2016 on) lx’s and LC’s have an 8 speed and the 08-15 have a 6 speed.
a a I’ve got a 13 lx and have had zero issues with the battery, doesn’t mean it wasn’t an issue on the years prior. Check out ih8mud, lots of good information and people who can answer questions.

This is a car which is so reliable and heavy which you can put into any tough tests on road , probably offroad even better. King of 4 wheels....
The 4Runner Limited has replaced the Land Cruiser here in the U.S. It may not be built quite a hefty, however, they are very solid and extremely reliable as well. And frankly, it is sharper than the Land Cruiser.
We would have loved to, walkwitmeh427, but the Land Cruiser is a big vehicle requiring big space to take it off-road. Jeeps...we got you. Rangers...yup, those, too. But a Land Cruiser takes a lot of space and a bit of planning luck that we didn't have. Hope you understand and thanks for watching!
walkwitmeh427 you’ll find more of these in mall parking lots and on highways than you’ll find off-road. Besides in most places in US there are less and less off road opportunities.

The Land cruiser is incredible indeed, these are in use by some of the most elite U.S. Special forces in some of the most dangerous places in the world.

In fact, that's pretty much the only time we shut the vehicle off, so that we can show the startup. If you pay close attention, you'll hear the engine running on almost every clip of the vehicle. The issue with the land cruiser is its a "luxury offroad SUV" with a price tag of an Escalade or a Navigator. Both of those give you wildly better luxury and on road experience and we damn well know no one buying one of these is taking it offroading. That 4x4 system will be used for snow and thats about it, otherwise might as well come RWD. Same goes for the Gwagen, overpriced, overengineered "luxury offroader" that just hauls the kids to and from school. If Toyota made a land cruiser that was stripped down, vinyl seats, basic climate control, plastic interior, maybe an optional cold weather package that adds heated seats/wheel and cut the price by 30-40% and it may actually return to its former glory. This thing's sales numbers have been way down since 2000, theres a reason. Also that third row design needs to change, either make them fold down like literally everyone else and/or make them removeable. Also if you never use the third row, this thing trades way too many blows with a 50k grand cherokee, just food for thought
There are hundreds of us using them offroad and for overland travel its one of the most sought after overland platforms in the world. www.pinterest.com/volunteerdad/toyota-land-cruiser/

As a 4Runner owner, the Land Cruiser is what I hope one day to be an upgrade of mine. The Land Cruiser is the world's BEST SUV.
TRD PRO 4 RUNNER can actually go OFF ROAD ....
@@CP-kb1du Any of the 4Runner trims can go off-road. The TRD Pro is better suited out of the box compared to the others though.
This car is just power and durability coupled with luxury and insanely awesome offroad capability.
Yup! Thanks for watching, Cherry God's eye!
have a 1999 , 152,700 miles on it, done all regular maintenance and all is well !, they’re built too last reliable and just awesome too drive, replaced both front axles ( figured the old ones did their job!!) swaybar bushings, rubber does get old,, power steering rack, lower ball joints, and that’s it,, not bad for all this truck has seen !, and it’s age, ,,all i would love is too have the look of the new ones front grill driving lights and hood !!
Great review! I'm glad you emphasized its capabilities. This is no cross-over...car like ride vehicle. Its designed to go off the road.
Sure is, nub Fishing. Thanks for watching!
I agree, he made sure to describe the car as it really is.
nub Fishin so is a G Wagon, except the G Wagon is not as thoroughly outdated
@@AmmarMalik G Wagons are ancient! I'd take a Toyota over a Mercedes ANYDAY.
Christopher Hallinan yes I’m sure the new G Wagon with 3 diff locks, 4L twin turbo engine with twice the torque of the land cruiser and a near bulletproof body is less preferable to a Land Cruiser
My dad brought a 1998 in 2003 that thing runs just fine with 250,000 miles my brother is now driving it to college and it has everything you need heated seats, Bluetooth, all that
How did they have heated seats in 1988

I don't think there's a vehicle made that I want more. Legendary.
It is definitely legendary, Trigger Happy. Thanks for watching!
This is a tank. Love it. Hopefully they improve the look a bit in the coming years and improve mpg. Would take this anyway over a Range Rovurrrr
The best suv in world Nice Nice cars
Land Cruisers are great, I just wish they weren’t exclusively ‘luxury’ vehicles in the U.S. IMO they need a true utility base model with cloth interior and just the basics like they do with the LC200 in international markets
Good review, but you missed the intended purpose of THEE (sic) vehicle - offroad prowess. THEE LandCruiser shines offroad. Nice review!
Very nice review, I enjoyed the outtakes as well. I appreciate your candor in showing them!! One question. What make and model are those sunglasses?
Ha! Thanks, Mark Johnson. Some days we have more outtakes than we'd like to admit. LOL Chris doesn't know the model of his sunglasses, as they were a gift, but they're made by Polo. Thanks for watching!
thats the dream SUV right there!
Kyle Burns
agree. I have an '01 with 106K and it doesn't have a squeak or rattle. It's built like an old school Mercedes.
I have 94 Land Cruiser since brand new it broke down on me 3 times and currently has 90,000 miles. I wouldn't call it indestructible.
One Man On sounds unlucky to me. We put 140,000 on a ‘98 then traded it in for an ‘05 that I took to 270,000 before trading it in for my FJ Cruiser last year. Never once have been left stranded.

You should see the 5.7L ones available for Middle East.
True! the one he is showing in the video is the V8 4.6L, the 5.7L is a beast
Actually, this one was a 5.7L. That's the only engine size available in the U.S., Hamed Al Ansari. Thanks for watching!
AutoAcademics I thought it was 4.5L v8 diesel
@@luxerygt8561 Nope. Diesels aren't very popular in the U.S. so all pretty much all of our expensive vehicles still have V8s.
Hard sell for me when you consider the Sequoia is similar but much less expensive, at least in the US. Is the landcruiser really worth 35k more than the Sequoia?
Uhh. Hello yeah it is.
Bill Kingman if you want what the land cruiser offers. Many car buys isn’t what you need but what you want. No one needs leather. No one needs a radio in the car. There are many thing no one needs.
It is about the price of its lexus equivalent.
The two row lx is actually cheaper.
Very concise and to the point review.

I know right?
Love it so much it have everything someone will dream for
The 4Runner Limited has replaced the Land Cruiser here in the U.S. It may not be built quite a hefty, however, they are very solid and extremely reliable as well.
And frankly, it is sharper than the Land Cruiser.
This car is so common in Australia. They are everywhere
And in Australia, it has a little brother called Prado.
Love driving the Land Cruiser.
How could you do a review of a Toyota Landcruiser and not take it off road?
It's like doing a food review and not taking a taste test.
@@AutoAcademics I hear you but you should try to make it happen next time. Your channel would grow if you do.
walkwitmeh427 you’ll find more of these in mall parking lots and on highways than you’ll find off-road. Besides in most places in US there are less and less off road opportunities.

If you let the engine " Idle " for 120 seconds you can [ w/ scheduled ] maintenance can get Double the expected Life out of the Engine .
You have to let the OIL get upto the heads !
We appreciate your concern, Cray fish, but fear not. The engines of every car we review are at operating temperature well before the engine start clips you see in our reviews. In fact, that's pretty much the only time we shut the vehicle off, so that we can show the startup. If you pay close attention, you'll hear the engine running on almost every clip of the vehicle. So again, we appreciate your insight and concern, but know that we treat each vehicle that we review as if it were our own. Thanks for watching.

What about a Higlander? I can't afford a Land Cruiser as per now; however, I'm seriously thinking on a third or fourth generation Highlander.
