  • New Peterbilt 367 Tandem with Langfab Dump box with high lift gate. We ordered this chassis for stock to be heavy enough to go logging while still being able to be made into a dump truck. After a few months in inventory it was time to put a box on. Needless to say it sold as soon as we commited it to a box. a big thank you to Langfab for another great looking Rigout.
    I was bagged making this video at the end of the day last Friday. Note to self, make videos in the AM when I'm full of piss and vinegar.
    thanks for watching.

    Nice looking truck, first time I've seen the plywood inserts. I'm a fan of the Johnson lever on the column, and Jake on/off switch on the RH side of the shifter, just below the top knob assembly. If a multi-stage Jake, that selector on the dash within easy reach.

    That looks like a 15 foot box doesn't look like a 16'6 box. Nice looking truck I see somebody in my area bought a new Pete dump looked like a 567. I drive bin trucks never have to worry about getting stuff stuck in gates. The biggest stump I've hauled is probably close to 6 tons on it was all a 200 Hitachi could pick.

    Mike, how do they remove tipper to convert it into tractor?
    Here we have something called the Wechselsystem, there are different forms of them, full hydraulic, semi hydraulic, one that use airbags to lift and manual locks, one that require forklift...
    But usually takes 10 min to convert a truck from tractor to tipper, or whatever You want. For mixer it takes bit more to connect driveshaft to the engine PTO.

      they don't, at least not easliy and not without a ton of work. these are purpose built as dump only, not multi-use. afaik. It has pintle hitch so you could pull another dump body or even a short flat deck.

    Nice truck. 👍
    If you don’t mind me asking a generic question, why do all dump trucks in BC (and possibly elsewhere) have those wooden inserts on top of the side walls to extend the bed height? Why not make the bed that tall to begin with? Or use metal (as for the rest of the box)?

    • @brycedeans2739
      @brycedeans2739 2 года назад +2

      It’s so that when machines load the box and inevitably hit the top rail it isn’t permanently damaged and can be replaced easier and more cost effective than steel.

    • @scottcooneymusic6736

      I run boards like that because its easier to get 22 tons of gravel on without it spilling out the sides of the box.

    I’d like one but I can back all around any dumpsite with my 567 and can attest that IMO the peterbilts suspension is hands down the best for ride and traction. I gotta admit that even being an old school manual transmission or nothing guy.(pulp hauler since 18-speeds weren’t there)
    So coming from a background where 18-speed fullers are the only and perhaps the best transmission ever built for heavy hauling and whereupon seeing the ultramatic 18 in my new truck almost made me sick with revulsion and “what the hell will the guys say?” shame, lol. I’m not lying when I thought this is gonna be pathetic! But honestly without any bullshit after mastering this technology just as I had to eventually master my first paying gig driving truck which was the revered 5 and 4 backing up gas job power plant.
    I’m not gonna lie, my Nick name could’ve been crunchy back in 87 but same as then, the product had to be moved from point A to point B.
    After two years, two winters, honestly boys this transmission is fantastic. Remember shifting basics , tachometer and same as the five and four, it’s all in the fuel pedal. 👊🏾🤘🏾
    Adapt and conquer

    Was that plywood to keep the sides from getting dented up?

    • @Graveltrucking
      @Graveltrucking 3 года назад

      Plywood liners are common here on the West Coast yes its to give some protection against dents. Here on the coast we have large rock that is sharp edges it can do nasty damage to a dump box. Up in Northern BC where Mike is they probably don't haul blasted rock like we do.

      Back when I ordered my 379, dual boxes were heavier and more expensive, so I went with the single box with assist cylinder on the right side. Recently rebuilt the steering, box was $1400 and assist cyl. was $2000(alot of money for a cyl that only goes in and out). Never had any turning issues even when stopped and I run 315-80R22.5 steer tires.

Preferred trucks are usualy Freightliner and International mainly due to overall costs and longevity. a Peterbilt is like a Harley Davidson if you own one you're constantly working on it. FROM new condition. The hell with a Peterbilt.
