Just found your channel as I was searching for info on transplanting this bush. I have one that I had wanted to transplant. I wish mine was that easy, it took me about an hour just to dig it out. :) Though I am new to working in a yard, and this had been in the same spot for about 10 years. So yeah, think thick anchoring roots! I hope it's survive it! Ps. great channel, I've subscribed.
Great content and instructions, thank you. Last summer my husband and I planted dogwood(red twig, yellow twig) both tagged deer resistant. Our yard is lowest on block because neighbours in properly and incorrectly changed their yards grading. Deers love to eat dogwood leaves and twigs. From December 2023 to April 2024 this area of Nova Scotia received 17.98 inches of rain, rain only not counting snow fall. Our yard was like a lake, water was over the knee deep and inches from house. Not only did we have our own water to deal with but water from the other 8 yards surrounding ours. Neighbours yards were nice and dry thanks to their grading efforts to protect their property. We called an excavator who came same day and was shocked at water volume in our yard. Excavator trenched a ditch at the side of the house giving water an escape to ditch. The yard is destroyed…still. The back yard is still mushy to walk on. I figured all our plants, shrubs and trees were drowned. There was a small red twig dogwood I planted last summer. I noticed yesterday a small leaf bud forming on that dogwood. We netted the shrub to protect it from deers and while it’s in a soggy low spot, it seems like there’s a chance it survived. Unbelievable, tough shrub.
