      Can you recommend a smart dimmer switch for the ensenior?

    Appreciate the video. I've installed all three on different projects so I'll tell you my impressions. With a regular Klein 6 3/8" hole saw (like you'd find in every big box store electrical department) the Halo tends to feel a bit too small for the opening. There was very little room for error and if your saw moves around at all you may have issues covering the hole. I had to purchase a slightly smaller hole saw specifically to use with the Halo whereas with the other two brands (and for that matter all 6" recessed remodel cans from multiple manufactures), the 6 3/8" hole saw is the correct size. That being said, the Halo seems to be the best build of the three - which you pay for. The Torchstar and Ensenior appeared to be of similar quality though the Torchstar takes slightly longer to install due to the use of wire nuts instead of wagos. The real difference is the light output between the two - which is why I prefer the Ensenior. You can always put it on a dimmer if it's too bright, but it's a whole other can of worms if the room is too dim. I've installed over 100 Halos, and Torchstars and around 300 Enseniors now. Out of all of them, I've had one Ensenior come back because of a faulty driver.

      Is it code required or recommended to secure the individual metal boxes to framing or can they lay on top of the drywall? Thanks.

    Great detailed explanation.
    When you measured the Torchstar at 6.25", are the other two exactly 6" total?
    Also, how many inches in the back, the part that goes inside?
    Finally, can these lights be changed in terms of the Kelvin intensity using an app or do need to be physically set with the button/switch on the metal box? Say I'd like to change from 2700k to 3500k for example.

    Thank you Sir for this video, and to those posting their answers/comments.
    Question 1. Are the clips long enough to hold thru 1- 1/8 thick ceiling (1/2 inch over old 5/8 drywall)? If not, guess I can cut out a small section of existing 5/8 drywall in one small bathroom, rest of home is new 5/8 only.
    Question 2. Is it required to secure each light’s junction box to a ceiling joist or can they simply lay loose on top of the drywall? And assuming they are IC rated (direct contact with insulation).
    Thank you, Subscribed, hope it helps your channel.

    Thanks so much for this review. I'm a super small channel just rebuilding an old mobile home and got a collaboration email from Ensenior and I just couldn't find any info on them so I'm assuming they are just a low cost Chinese brand sold on Amazon and such. At least I know they're a real thing. Thanks again!

    Re: Ensenior 6" 12watt 1050 lms lights: How far apart did you go with for spacing between each light? Is the claim of 1050 lumens accurate per 6 inch light? Will a 6 1/8 hole saw work for installation or 6" better? Thanks

    Started with the Halo 6” ultra thin. Did not like the glare off the light edge.
    Switched to the Halo 6” direct mount baffle trim light. Lot less glare and looks classier.
    Easy swap between the two lights at the hand tight connector.

    Torch star has two different versions of recessed lights. Same lumens as enseño or and halo. I’ve use them before and price is not a big difference. So if you are going for torchstar get the 1050 lumens version.

    Yeah, I wish all downlights or recessed lighting were canless like these! But I wish they came out with super bright lights (1300 lumens) with all the colors, dimmable, with Wifi and controllable with your smartphone with no hub.

    Thanks for your vids. I got a question for you too. Halo T24s sometimes flicker in my new house. We have no dimmers, only simple switches. The flicker is about has a frequency of about once per second when it happens. First it was the one over the fridge (call it location 1), so I pulled it and forgot about it for months, intending to put it back . Then today it was the one over the cabinet (call it location 2). I swapped fixture 1 into hole 2 and fixture 2 into hole 1 so I could see what happened.
    All was well but only for a few seconds, then fixture 1 in hole 2 started flickering. Fixture 2 in hole 1 wasn't flickering. I turned the switch off for only a few seconds, then back on. Now all is well for 10 minutes. But I don't have confidence that it won't happen again. Any suggestions please? Another note is that I want to install dimmers and I'm worried that introducing that element will make it harder to troubleshoot and maybe more likely to flicker. Thanks a lot!

    • @RENOS4PROSJOES
      @RENOS4PROSJOES  3 года назад +1

      That's a difficult one. It's hard to make a suggestion without being able to see it. I would be interested to see if the dimmer or a different switch would solve the flicker problem.

    Ive got a question bro. Is it possible to install one of these ultra thin lights into an existing can using a e26 adapter? I know there the retrofit that is meant for that but I really like the look of the ensenior or being that I also installed some in my house I’d like them to all match Also great video 👍🏽

      You could always just remove the can and stick these in there on the drywall

  • @kkutube1972
    @kkutube1972 2 года назад +3

    I think these are tempting and the first install would look great but when they do go out, replacing them is the potential problem because it is just sitting directly to drywall. They should supply a ring to wrap around the drywall hole. No led light last 5-10 years that I know of. By that time, the company would have renamed/rebranded.

      Speaking specifically about the fixtures featured in this video: Torchstar-No, Ensenior- Damp Rated, Halo-Wet Rated. Halo is a definately for exterior, Ensenior will depend on how close the light will be installed to moisture.
