Watch a full tutorial as a 2008 Chevy Trailblazer / GMC Envoy will have a brand new Apple Carplay Double Din Touch Screen Radio installed. This install applies to both the Bose and non-Bose vehicles. We will also be retaining the factory steering wheel controls as well!
This video applies to Chevrolet (Chevy) Trailblazer, GMC Envoy, Buick Rainer, Isuzu Ascender, Oldsmobile Bravada, Saab 9-7X, and some Chevy Colorado (2004 - 2012) models for years 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009. So question. If I use the Joybring you are showing with reverse camera, etc anc 3wXv4V5 adaper harness I will maintain my steering wheel volume controls and the chime system.? I would like a unit with Navigation, also. When you check on the Boss system they want to know your RPO code so they know which harness to use. Any Idea on which RPO code they are looking for. the label in my glove box does not identify which code is for the bose system I already have. all this gets very confusing. thanks for you video and help.

I posted 2 comments, not sure why you didn't see them. Sorry about seeming to be complaining, I figured the above system won't give me Navagation without using a cell phone, So I need to look for something else. Sorry to have been a bother. Fortunately for Envoy owners, the bezel (buh-ZELL) only covers the A/C and radio.
Hey there, I'm currently (attempting to) install a new radio in my 04 envoy XL w/ bose and didn't want to fork out the 100 bucks for a harness, do you possibly know if I can leave the BCM data bus cable disconnected? Thanks in advance.

Good video and well explained. Unfortunately i am building (soldering and heatshrinking) my harness and the whole reason i watched this video was for the illumination wire. I was really hoping for something to the effect of.. "If you have a none bose gps factory unit the pin you need is this one top or bottom row 4th from the left Ex. check for continuity from the pin to the wire to ensure you have the correct one and solder it up." not a huge deal i will figure it out when i put it in. Also i will let you know i didn't connect my power antenna wire to my remote so i will let you know how that plays out. might have to solder that connection anyways. As i don't have a power antenna it seems redundant. Haven't checked the wiring diagram to see what other vehicle systems that powers though..

I wired in a head unit on my 2008 trailblazer, followed all of the instructions and double checked my work, however I was unable to find which wire was my ignition signal. I wired red to red and yellow to yellow as my harness instructed but my radio doesn’t cut off with ignition, i have to manually power it off at the unit itself. Am I missing something? I used the same metra harness shown in the video, I even tested all the leads at the factory connector for power when cycling the ignition. Just curious which wire in the connector was supposed to give me ignition?

Which dark blue is the the wire supposed to connect to? There are 2 other blues but they arent solid like the one im trying to solder to.
Awesome Video. Quick question....when I plug your part list into amazon it tells me that radio won't fit a 2005 gmc envoy. I'm assuming that is why I also have buy the mounting bracket?
Ps really just trying to get something with backup camera, navagaion, and maybe android bluetooth. Don't need amp or sub woofers etc. Mainly a backup camera that is on the radion, not some extra unit. So thanks for your help. hope things are well in Provo. Randy

False. Odometer value is stored in the EPROM on the cluster, it's the same with all GM trucks from this era. The odometer value might be written elsewhere, but if you put a junkyard cluster in a car it'll carry the donor vehicle's odometer value with it. jeffescortlx here on youtube has a number of videos where he repairs clusters, including pulling the EPROM values from a broken cluster and writing them to a donor cluster.
The only thing missing is that they put the purchase link for each product. I have a 2002 blazer.

Should I upgrade my 07 TB Bose front door subs with name brand shallow mounts and juicy amp, or would I be better off going with the traditional sub/enclosure in the back?

dear, im having trouble after i installed an android screen on my trailblazer 2006.. an electric current buzz sound .. very load .. always on my front left speaker, and sometimes back right speaker .. the only thing i got to notice is that its starts when my bass sub kicks in after less than a minute .. sometimes its from the beginning .. sometimes it doesnt accure .. most of the time it does accure .. i need help ..
the guy who applied that screwn to me told me i need a sound filter right between the cables and the new screen to plus and that will filter out all of this .. would that work .. is that correct ?

i have a question
the black wire off my factory amp i think its a rf wire. how do i hook it up to my after market radio. cause my factory amp isnt working
but i also noticed that you have a white rca plug. is that to the black wire. if so where do i get that adapter

I used the exact same products as you, but mine did not have the interface illumination tab on it, just curious if you remember what color it was or if you had to double up any wires
Sure, if none of the illumination wires pass through the harness resulting for the need to use the interface illumination wire, it doesn't hurt anything just to connect all of them together. Alternatively, you can use a multi meter or continuity tester to identify which wire you need and eliminate the ones you dont.

Thanks for the reply. I have put in many aftermarket radios, but theses days with the chime system and onstar (which I don't use), trying to find a unit and all the extra things to install it can be a pain. So you say the Boss system would be good?
What about that second connector on vehicle that didn’t get connected to the new harness? Does that do anything?

What type of wire harness and chime retention unit would I need for a 2008 Chevy Trailblazer LT with the Bose stereo? I've had no luck even after spending a ton of money on several that were supposed to work with the Bose factory stereo with the Bose Digital Amp. I'm trying to swap out the factory stereo because mine is none functional ive tested another Bose stereo and there's power going to it but a touch screen with modern features would be great. Thanks for any help you may be able to provide.

Oh, not at all. Thsee no-name cheap Chinese radios are absolutely trash. I recommend a brand name unit for the best user experience, quality, and longevity.

Just bought 05 trailblazer xlt. Would you know why the radio has nothing but all static. A radio station kind of bleeped in but signal won't stay. Tried to check antenna but it seems connected. Help, please.
So i have the 08 blazer LT do i need a chime connector or whatever its called for single din or was it just cause you have a double din touch screen
If you remove the original radio you will need it no matter what aftermarket headunit you use

I bought same wire harness (LC-GMRC-1). My head unit has an orange/white illumination wire. Do u know which orange wire i connect from the metra wire harness? I have a 2007 trailblazer LS.
Inordered the crux harnes plugged everything color coded and works when inturn key to acc on but no audio when i turn the car on... volume is low when i plug into bose but very loud when i plug into non-bose??? Help!

On connector C for the camera which one did you put together for black pink and brown ? You don’t mention it and I can barely see when I stop and zoom

I have a 2002 Bravada oldsmobile, even though it has Onstar system(Which is not activated and I do not require it) just as I would not mind not having the steering wheel controls, can I use the cheaper harness or do I require to use one that retains the steering wheel controls, also the speakers are not heard without the factory radio, with this harness will this be solved also?

You can use a cheaper harness that doesn't enable the features you want and it will still work, just won't be able to use the features because of course, you bought the harness that wouldn't let you use them.

No, with Bose you need the GMOS-04 smart module, and for steering wheel controls you need the ASWC-1 adapter.
Can i use the same harness as you. No steering wheel controls, no bose, but has onstar. Of course onstar doesn't work and don't need it too. Thx

@@ProvoBeastAudio Okay starting over. Just about think it isn't worth messing with this radio change. My car is 04 gmc envoy xuv. It has factory GMC radio with Navigation. I need to know what radio would work for me with Nav, steering wheel controls, Onstar and my saftey chime system. Also want a backup camera, but can add that if the radio has the rear camera plug on it. Harnesses area night mare. PAC RP5-GM11 Wiring Interface has this one, but seems to be really expensive, but is the only one I can find that does it all. The new radio needs Nav and backup camera. Either Nav in the radio or the android play, but really don't like the cell phone idea, but can do it if that's all there is. If you read this please let me know if you have any ideas. Thanks, Randy

Hey guys. Had a car audio guy install this as per your amazon links: but the unit wont turn off when I turn ignition off. I have to manually turn off the unit so it turns off and I dont kill my battery. Any ideas?!

Any idea why after I did this with exact same wiring and had no audio?
I did this EXACT install, I do not have SWC or Bose, but I do have Onstar. For some reason the radio is shutting off every time I open the door, WITH THE ENGINE ON. I plugged in my OE radio to make sure it wasn’t my door switch, it stayed on. Any ideas?

Also, if you are using an android based radio, in addition to wiring the steering wheel control connections, no-name brands also require you to manually program each button within the settings of the radio.

Amazon's fit guide is trash! With the right install parts, it will work great. Also, that Boss radio is also budget friendly, and has a much better warranty.

I only think so. You could tell because the security light flashes on the dash showing it's active when you lock the vehicle, or at least shows that on my 02 TB LTZ

Does the Smart Harness do anything to activate the Red wire for power? I purchased a harness and wired to spec with my Dual radio and the Red wire out of the harness is not giving power when the ignition is on.
Yes. Your GM vehicle doesn’t have an analog accessory red wire as the “turn on” wire is data controlled, and so it has to be generated by the smart harness for the radio. Be sure to get the right harness for your vehicle.
@@ProvoBeastAudio I bought an envoy a while back where the PO had run a wire back to the body control module and pulled switched 12V power from one of the fuses there. It works, but definitely isn't ideal. If you have a Bose system you definitely need the adapter though.

Either you have the wrong wiring harness adapter or a blown fuse. Hard to diagnose over a RUclips comment.
HELP!!! I cant find the amp in my model!! I have one for parts and the amp is located under the passenger seat but in my main one there is no amp in that location or the trunk?? Is it possible my slt doesnt have one? *parts model is 2007 sle, daily is 07 slt both are envoys
Are you sure it has Bose? Check if there’s speaker in the dash

We used heat shrink to cover out connections!

No, no need to if using the right install parts. The smart harness needed (which we used in the video) provides the accessory for us.

@@Dhill.angelI Which means you are using the wrong harness adapter if your harness doesn't have an accessory wire. If you refuse to use the correct harness adapter, you will need to use a multimeter to determine which fuse to tap into. IF you go that route, please do it correctly using an add-a-circuit.
Do you know what kind of butt connectors I would use? Since I wouldn’t be soldering

18 -22 gauge red butt connections will work fine.

In most cases, it won't be used. Depending on the factory features of your vehicle, along with the different trims available, that harness may or may not have been used with the factory radio. They also may have had factory features no needed by the aftermarket equipment.

If you have Bose, those part variations are also linked in the description. Install process is just the same, just using a different harness adapter.

My radio says Bose on the screen but I do not have steering wheel controls, I’m not sure what harness I would need
So I bought my harness, wired everything together, I have power, the radio works, but I have absolutely 0 sound. I’m not sure what’s up. If the wires for the speakers don’t have good connection? I’m not sure
@@haydenpeterson1385 Not familiar with your specific stereo...if there's an amp powering the speakers you may want to be sure the blue (remote) wire is hooked up correctly.
