I felt about the same for this as I did for the pacific. The pacific was better, but it also isn’t close to band of brothers. Some good moments and episodes and some episodes that dragged. The acting wasn’t as strong in this as in the pacific.
    I think the major problem was that all the real life guys are dead, so the show couldn’t impart any specific moments of intimate wartime brotherhood. There were the major events, and too much focus on the leads. The side characters had no personality.

You’re so determined to rip it apart to show how ‘smart’ you are that you totally forget the younger generation who may just watch this series, who just may decide to investigate WWII, who may just want to take up flying, who just may decide to go into the military to serve their country. My God … get a life and stop trying to make yourself feel superior than most of us civilians. I don’t care about the inaccuracies, nor the timeline of events. I’m 80 years old… my husband and his brother, my father and all 4 of his brothers, served during WWII. Maybe not in direct combat, except for my Uncle Kenneth, who was blown off a ship in Pearl Harbor, but they all served in some capacity. I’m proud of their service, as well as the men in MOTA, most of whom never made it home. Some of the actual crews who are still living, as well as many of the family members of the fallen pilots, attended the premiere and were totally captivated with the show, saying they felt like they were back in the cockpit again. Those are the only people who have a right to complain. Thank God there are some people who are supportive of MOTA, and the producers, and the cast and crew, who have poured their money, their hearts and souls into bringing the story of these men to life. I hope we will never forget these men who fought so valiantly to help end Hitler’s reign over the world! Thank you sirs for your service to our country!!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

    People don’t realize you were far more likely to survive as a ground troop in Europe. My father in law was a Bombardier 1st Lieutenant on a B17. Made it to Europe early 43. Yes you had hot showers and food plus a bed every day. Problem was you had to live long enough to enjoy it. He never spoke of the war nor did I ask. God Bless all who have served they deserve peace

    Sorry, but the Munster Raid beats Regensburg, by a landslide. Honestly, Ep.3 is arguably one of the worst episodes of the miniseries. While, Episode 5 is the strongest. It was impossible to differentiate between anyone in those planes. Whereas, with Munster, the focus was only on Egan’s and Rosie’s planes. The carnage was shown through their perspectives.
    In regard to No.5, what makes that sequence even more tragic is that Rosie is Jewish himself, and does not even need the translators to explain what he is seeing and hearing. He also knew what that industrial complex really was, before the smell of death hit his nose. Which is why he asked to leave the truck.

    • @CzechImp
      @CzechImp 2 месяца назад

      But did that incident with Rosie actually happen, or was it made up to include a reference to the Holocaust in the series?

      @@CzechImp - Rosenthal did see the camps in Poland, on his way to Moscow. That sequence was based directly on something that happened to him. Some things are so crazy that a screenwriter cannot make them up.

    • @CzechImp
      @CzechImp 2 месяца назад

      Thanks. I just watched the scene again. It is really well done. The only thing I would like to have seen them add is some sort of narration or titles. Żabikowo was also a prison camp, not just a labour camp for Jews - in the last years of the war it mainly housed captured Polish resistance fighters, as well as American and Soviet POWs. Many of these died there before the death march to Sachsenhausen in January 1945.
      The fireside conversation between Rosie and Crosby was a really good opportunity to cover these topics, but was far too short. Rosies comment that ''they had it coming'' was too vague (and a bit corny). But Mann and Boyle were great - best two actors by far. @@ChienaAvtzon

    Good day everyone God bless. Please remember the true meaning of Easter this holiday. Its not about Easter bunnies and Easter hunts and candy. Easter is about Jesus sacrificing himself so that our sins can be forgiven. Jesus took the burdens of the whole world and was betrayed and crucified in the process for us to be saved. God forgave everyone and what they did to his only son and now every lasting life exists for those who believe. Jesus rose on the third day in his body and showed us that he truly is the son of God.❤🎉🙏🏽
