    There's some gender things you need to know, (for the english/americans)
    So, if you want to say you are pretty :
    If you talk to a boy you need to say :
    Tu es joli/beau
    To a girl :
    Tu es jolie/belle
    you add a "e" to "joli" and you change the word "beau" for belle.
    If you have some questions about a word, you can ask it to me !

    • @vchlopie9357
      @vchlopie9357 5 лет назад +2

      Thank you for the notice! I have a question, since there’s gender based words, like “ami” & “amie”, “joli” & “jolie”, do you still pronounce them the same even though they’re differently spelled, and will people understand what gender you’re referring to?

    Living in paris I think that I hear "par contre" much more than "de l’autre côté", but maybe its because I’m always with young people in informal situations

    • @Karimastik69
      @Karimastik69 4 года назад

      Hi, no you're right, there are some bad examples in the video.
      "De l'autre côté" is more formal, we say "par contre" in daily life.
      "Aucun doute là-dessus" is quite formal, it should be "J'en suis sûr" or "c'est sûr".
      The worst is "Je crains d'être en désaccord" that litteraly nobody use, we say "Je ne suis pas d'accord."

    I want to mention that in spoken french (casual speech), we often if not always drop the 'ne' in negative sentences. We say 'Je sais pas' instead of 'Je ne sais pas'. And also, we don't use 'nous' in every day conversation but 'on'.

    I want to help you now because you helped me. "Just paying it forward." Thank you for the lesson. So, in English, "think" is not pronounced as "sink." To say "th" requires you place your tongue, just past its tip, directly pressing against the bottom of your front teeth, with about one quarter inch of the tongue sticking forward of the upper front teeth and lightly force air, allow it to pass or escape, between the teeth above and the tongue underneath. If you wish to say "s" in English, you match your teeth together like in see, sink, and sad and allow air to pass between the teeth (the tongue is behind the closed top and bottom front teeth. The "s" sound is different than the "th" sound. (Still different also is the "t" sound as in "tell" or "touch" where you slightly curl your tongue behind your front teeth and tap the roof of your mouth and push a short burst of air past it.)
    "Sink" versus "think." It is concerned with the tongue and air/ throat and teeth. Remember "th" means place your tongue against the bottom of the front upper teeth . Lift your tongue to your upper front teeth. Now push air from your throat and let it flow unimpeded to your teeth and tongue and move your tongue to open away from the bottom of your front teeth. Now you try it. Play with your mouth and tongue and air and teeth. You need to watch people's mouths like a baby does its parent. Good luck! Thanks again!
