The tilt is really interesting, my pentax K1 has the ability to shift the sensor to have a shift function on any lens. Never thought to use it in macro photos. Thanks for the eye opener
So it seems the shift function is a pixel shift which allows higher resolution images (usually 4x). While this is different from a shifting lens, you can replicate the effect. Take a high resolution pixel shift photo with a wide angle lens and then crop in yo where you want your "shift" to have occurred. That's all shifting is really, a moving crop done in camera. Tilt requires additional hardware to do however.
@@TT3Dxyz I can tilt and shift the sensor, not for pixelshift (it has it and yes you can higher resolution) you can turn it also left and right by 8 degrees. It also has a auto level system to keep horizon straight automatic
@@ronbokje6213 ah, I see. So you can shift and rotate for composition adjustments a decent bit. The "tilting" is a bit misleading though as it rotates the sensor while the focus plane remains the same. I was hoping it was going to be view camera type tilt as I would have got one just for that
Interesting about the ccvt lens, we use an extremely similar lens on our (homebuilt) FPV drones, there is quite a broad spectrum of them available and the play a big part in how we use this Equipment.
I just bought my first macro lens a week ago, and am having an absolute blast. I can't but recommend my setup (for Canon at least). It's a blisteringly sharp SIGMA 105mm 1:1 magnification ratio, which takes awesome pictures in of itself (great for bees and similary sized little workers), and to get in really clore I use a raynox dcr 250 on it, with which i can take usable shots of fruit flies. A steal for
Thank you. Did not know much about these lenses and combos. I have old Sony camera and plan upgrading to A7. Have used extension rings and/or Tamron 90mm/f2.8 for occasional macros. Also have tried to reverse 50mm, just as experiment. Haven't yet fully figured out how to get old Sony HVL56 flash working as wireless flash with A7. There are several options like Godox sender/receivers, using some mini-flash (Meike?) for triggering external flash etc. Also need something for geotagging, old A55 had built-in GPS (crappy but still). PS. Gimball link did not lead to correct item.
Hi Michael, thanks for all your videos! I have learned a lot from you. Have you ever tried macro photography with the Lensbaby? The sweet 50 together with the macro converters and raynox lens is amazing!
Jätte kul faktiskt , I'm watching your RUclips content for the first time, and it's very interesting. I will try these lenses this weekend to go out and take macro photography in the wild. I am a photographer and I have a lot of experience, but I have never tried macro photography before .
Nice, I have nine extension tubes, totally 185.5 mm. Btw, are you related to Camilla Widell outside Uppsala? If so, please send my greetings. We met on ”Vem Vet Mest?” in Gothenburg some years ago. Keep up the good work!
That last lense with the cctv attachment. What mount is it? I shoot film with a pentax super program is there any way to get this on a kmount or should I just get a mirror less camera?
Hmm not sure if there is Pentax support. Check the original video here ruclips.net/video/o234jLTrtkw/видео.html and see the links in the description for the model files you can print.
Of the lenses in this video the astrhori is maybe the best allround lens. But this is a video about WEIRD lenses :) If you just want the BEST lens for macro photography, please see my lens guide: lensguide.micaelwidell.com
Thank you so much for your promo code Michael on the venus website. I was looking at the 14mm lens for landscape and in Australia it's just under $900. On their main site it is $434 USD with your code including shipping and that comes under $630 AUD! 💕
@@MicaelWidell yeah I did! I think it looks the best with some simple packing foam sheets.. sadly I threw a few of them away, two weeks before I ordered it. I could bite myself in the ass rn :D
Look for underlay poly foam for floors. It's the best type I could find so far, quite cheap in big quantity. :) There are multiple thicknesses available. I only have the thinner type which is ideal with two layers, I think the thick should work well by itself. Just get a roll at local store, 2-3mm thick should work well :)
Canon actually has a tilt shift 135mm macro. But you have to rob a bank first. And I’m not sure if it’s a real macro? Meaning if it’s a 1:1 magnification. Update: no, it’s a 1:2 macro.😢

Very Cool video! The feel of wide-angle macro images is so interesting and I believe that the DIY aspect of photography should remain at its heart.

weirdest, weirdest... but the taken photos are amazing, great work!
Thank you.

Try if you can find A Vivitar s1 90mm With a 2x adapter. Amazing Macro lens and also superb Portrait lens
Great pictures, interesting video. Thx!
Thanks for this amazing review. I love macro photography. And i use a sigma 105mm and the Raynox DCR 250. Very classic lenses 😅
First visit - loved it. Lot's of fun. Cheers.

Hi Michael, can you make a video about photographing springtails in winter?
Maybe! If I find any springtails lol :) Might make an attempt at some point when the temperature is right.

We could be distantly related because I am also from Uppsala. But I don’t know anyone with that name.
4:11 Importance of Title in adding to DOF in macro
Not gonna lie, extension tubes thumbnail bring me here. But i'm not disappointed, great video.
i cant be the only person who thought the thumbnail was lego
Great video
but is your recomendation for which flash to purchase for Macro Photography
Any regular flash works. My favorite is the Meike mk-320. I have a video about it, search my name and meike mk320
You colud make the microscope lens to be able to tilt
love this kinda hacky, DIYy, modding stuff yet super cheap.
that got me so excited, time to try something new ! for almost nothing !!! hell yeah

The last lens was actually so awesome!
Came for the clickbait, stayed for the content
Thanks 😊
Seems the Astrhori has the better image quality, what do you think?

Well there you go, Michael solved the age old question... Size does matter! 😂
Good selection.
Pentax DA 10-17 is also capable of macro with 25mm min. focus from lens
Is it just me, or does that tilt lens make a whole lot of sense. I want one.
Check my video about it for more details ruclips.net/video/MOFVb9d3WGM/видео.html

Happy to help!
At 3:15 - that’s illegal. I’m calling the cops hahaha
Is there a specific word for the packing foam you use as a flash diffusor?
I cant find it anywhere and i just got my meike mk320 a few weeks ago
Hmm I don’t have a good word for it except packing foam sheet. Or something. Check my diffuser playlist for more ideas on diffusers.

Iam doing macro photography with my 4year old pixel 3 and some various Mobile MACRO LENS 🔎😉😍
Where can I buy this flash adapter to be at 90º to sony a7R iv
If you mean the HAMA adapter I'm afraid it cannot be bought anymore. Try searching "tilting flash adapter" or "hotshoe tilt adapter" on ebay.
Fint!
Ha en trevlig vecka!
This reminds me of the 12800mm f88 lens🤣

20 mm nikkor reversed on a pb4 bellows on an f3. Lighting is tough
I owe one :)

Photo News, “Old lenses can now be revived with Viagra”
VERY INTERESTING
If you need to push the petal in to get photo of the bug on the flower... Well... That's a bit too much, isn't it? 🙄
can't you shot with the upside down camera? :-)
Haha that thumbnail is so wacky!!!
Love your content ! Could i know where you are from ? :)
For my GF
Stockholm, Sweden (hence the accent ;)
Great socks at 0.30 😬
Good!
I call the thumbnail lens as "The Tunnel"
Is that a macro lens on your camera or are you just pleased to see me?
ruclips.net/video/S06dTqHweVs/видео.html There has allways been tilting macro lenses. Where have you been if you never seen them? 🤔
Just because a lens has "macro" in the name does not mean it is a true 1:1 macro lens.
Hmm 🤔 Just add an "i" at the end of "Laowa" to get "Laowai" - that's Chinese slang for "foreigner".
Look it up! 🤣
They say Laowa means Old Frog
That's why clickbait exists, but you even used fake photo for clickbait. That's just sad. That's the world we live in today
It is a real photo. I just put some more extension tubes on.
@@MicaelWidell I understood wrong. Sorry for my harsh comment. Nice video
Thanks for the "Sorry for the clickbait".
laowa 100 mm - № 1
The cover photo has nothing to do with the video. Disappointed =(
The cover photo is one of the 7 lenses...
🖤💜💙😎
I fell for the clickbait thumbnail :(
