That was the day I fell in love with Lowndes, I’d been a Brock fan up until then. First watched Bathurst in 1981, for me Craig is King of the mountain. No way Brock would have 9 in the modern era, also Brock won at least 1 buy comandering the sister car, a luxury unavailable to Lowndes
@@jedsoracing2934 Have spoke to him twice on Twitter. My first kart # was 888! Found a cop car with his # and sent to him and asked if he ever got to drive the mad Max Ford Falcon. Got a answer and sadly it was no for the drive☹️ Canada as far as you can get away from there! Would love to see the cars run the Toronto street track or Mosport!! No question they would be awesome on Montreal GP track. That just 600 km east of me!
The year I get into Supercars and become a fan of Craig Lowndes...he retires from driving. Well, shit. I guess I'm a fan of McLaughlin now? That 2014 battle with Whincup at Adelaide was reminiscent of Lowndes vs Bowe at Bathurst.
just imagine the stress levels you would have seeing that mans car getting closer and closer to the rear of your car then having him in you mirrors all over the place looking to get passed you best v8 supercar driver of the moden era hands down love watching him drive
Lowndes' last to first win at Adelaide in 1999 remains my favourite drive I've ever seen him do, incredible how he mowed his way through the field from last to first. A lesson in driving. Been a V8 fan since the Moffat, Bond, Brock days and I saw Lowndes burst on the scene in 94 and I thought "who is this guy?!?" he was so fast on debut. He made a couple of early mistakes as a rookie but he never made them again. A fierce racer (all the drivers talk about what a sweetheart he is off track but put him in a car and he's a monster but very very clean, they all trust and respect him). Met him a few times and yes he's an awesome fella. My son met him too when he was like 7 years of age (got a photo of that at Bathurst) and he's been a fan ever since. Awesome driver, terrific human being.
I will never know how Craig pulled half of these moves off! I'll never forget that move on Marcus Marshall at Winton in 2009. The commentary then was far better from Skaife, and Craig just threw it in and knew he could stop it! I'll also never forget Adelaide that year, where he entered the pits sideways on the brakes, exited his pit box sideways, and then exited pit lane and went through the chicane sideways! But that's just typical Lowndes!
Magical to watch. I find the true appreciation in this video by watching an epic scene from the windscreen view, watching it again but watching his hands on the steering wheel, the mans a master, i heard the commentator use the word maniac lol it does appear this way when really this man is on a whole different plain to what most people perceive to be maniacal when really, this man has it mastered and has learnt to drive at 90-95% capability when need be when most people are driving at 85% capability, its awesome!
4:44 takes big fucking balls. My favourite part about watching his drives was the fact that he always dared the fight but also kept it clean and never was big headed on his victories.
He's one of the very few drivers who is an absolute pest to have behind but does it in a clean manner. Tander spoke about what he is like in the rear view. Not only does he pass in a clean way, he almost never wrecks the car doing so. I can only count a handful of times where he has had a DNF that's been caused by his sole error.
Lowndesy is a rare combination in a race driver. He can set up a perfect overtake over the course of several laps, but he can also make perfectly judged opportunist overtakes. A real class act...
Hey mate I know it’s not the true of thing you do but would it be possible if you could post full v8supercars races?? It would be amazing if you could post as many races from as many years cheers
Explain how he smashed many Holdens. Lowndes is one of the very, very few drivers in global motorsport who can go out there and just drive. He's a bit like Scott Dixon, very rarely does he get a DNF by fault of his own. Usually when he does crash or retire from races its because someone else runs into him or the car has a mechanical issue.
It's a shame he was stuffed up by Dane and 888, Lowndes could have had all the records but they didn't want another Brock type domination, Bev Brock came out and said as much.
Above In Shadow then it wouldn’t be that hard to do it then, maybe he could hire you and pay you with peanuts. Or, another idea, just don’t watch the videos
That could have been an hour long
Only an hour? Easily 5 or 6 hours, and I'd still watch the whole thing
Yes mate I agree
Wonder what their thoughts were when they looked in the rear view mirror and saw 888 on their tail. Loved watching Craig race.
The pressure he puts on his opponents is phenomenal.
I know, my son and I laugh when Lowndes is so close behind you he could be in your boot! BUT he won't shunt you off the track. Miss him for sure.
Love him or hate him, he's a clean racer. He's not a hot head, but let's his driving speak for itself.
Exactly, craig is a clean racer, with a clean head
You missed the most famous of them all, the move he put on Bowe at Bathurst in 1994.
TrickyMario7654 True, should’ve been the first clip on the video
was thinking the same thing. was waiting for it. great vid though
TrickyMario7654 that was classic Lowndes

11:43, best move ever, gotta love Loundes, I'm gonna miss him in 2019 :-(
@RedPanda 207 yeah sorry, my phone "corrected" that, it is of course Lowndes
Seeing Craig over take other cars gets me hyped

Well no
no gizzy passes in this one because all he does when he goes to pass is punt them off the road
'ken oath.. that's cos Gizzy's a douche canoe of the first order
I can't really recall ever seeing such an aggressive racer that also manages to keep it clean. Amazing. What a legend.

How about at Perth were he drove through the field twice it was pissing down at the end and he was on slicks.
Bucket list is to actually meet him and get selfie would make my mellenum
Craig makes it look easy, kind of like Nigel Mansell did in F1.
V8 super cars make great races. Consistently Close racing. Great tracks. Sad to live in a time when both hero cars die.
Honestly, it's a sad country to live in now. Gone are the days when Australia was respected, primarily because of our manufacturing.

Such a genuinely nice guy could drive the wheels off anything he's given and yet didn't jump to America, brocky taught him well.
What about the time craig overtook John Bowe at bathurst? Thanks for the memories
so miss watching him race now
Lowndesy is the man 👍🏻

Craig Lowndes is The legend
Craig is a legend
Stella fella.
So
The pass at Bathurst in 1994 the one that got Craig Lowndes noticed in Supercars doesn’t make the list...
Them Vodafone cars just seem to have so much speed they just drive past everybody else.
Lowndes is my fav racing driver. back from when he had the falcon with the green highlights. Even have 888 on my own number plate

These guys get all the credit. And rally drivers are 5 times better and 5 times more dangerous what's going on guys
With all the silly mistakes he's made in races because of a rush of blood he could have 5 or 6 championships and 10 or 11 bathurst 1000
Just imagine if Craig and brock drove together in 95 to 97 mate would be unstoppable
Beautiful, i remember him in the green eyed beast racing skaife and ended up on skaifees boot , that was a good chase, ford vrs holden moment for me
