It was good to see them include both Rob and Jason for this (and the 30th anniversary concert). Both guys have represented the biggest heavy metal band in history, and both can respect each other for it.
No doubt that Rob is technically the better bassist out of him and Jason. However, Jason has the stage presence and connection with the fans that I don't think can ever be recaptured.
His back up vocals were always pretty brutal as well, in my opinion. "He had this great energy on stage and he always knew how to 'bark' into the mic when it was needed." -James Hetfield, about Newsted. There's a great video of Jason playing "Creeping Death" with Metallica back in 2011. A perfect example of everything positive being said about Newsted here. 👍💯👌🙏🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
How can you say that?? Based on what?? Hello.... Jason played bass on And Justice, black album, garage days, load, reload, etc. His bass work is legendary. Just his my friend of misery bass is worth the hall of fame alone. Jason is a master bass player. You cant say Rob is better technically, since Jason is the one with the body of work far superior to Rob's. Thats not being horrible to Rob. He is a fantastic bass player, however, to say he is better than Jason is just a matter of taste not fact.
If Iron Maiden can exist with his three guitar players and Helloween can exist with Kai Hansen, Michael Kiske and Andy Deris, why can't Metallica exist with Jason and Rob? I mean, two bass players are more than what's necessary, but Jason is a whole different presence on stage, attitude, rawness, he is the beast mode to Metallica's songs.
Growing up an '80's/90's baby I listened to only like Hip-Hop/Rap, R&B, Freestyle and such. And also to bands like Journey, Black Sabbath, Jefferson Airplane, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Cream, Bon Jovi, Pink Floyd, and The Beatles to name a few as well. But when I first heard Metallica (I think the first song was Nothing Else matters or Fade to Black) I was blown away. I was always picky about my music. I was never into Motorhead or those other bands. But Metallica was like this fresh ass sound!! I was like what category do I put them In!! None! Cuz there were no Bands like them. Their sound was so unique and and non generic. Years later I fell in love with Grunge/Alternative Rock (that is still my music), Indie Rock/New Wave. But then came bands like Sound Garden, RAGE Against The Machine, Korn, System of a Down, Staind and I thought "I'll place Metallica here" lol. Those Bands were influenced by Metallica and that's where I will keep Metallica. Metallica always took musical chances, never afraid to be expressive. James Hetfiled's lyrics reminded me of Anthony Kiedis' (RHCP) writing and Tom York's (Radiohead). And those three bands always put me in my feels. Thank you Metallica for making me more open minded.
Jason apparently didn't commit to performing here until after he arrived because he did not want to play onstage with Rob, he wanted to play Master with the 3 guys then let Rob play one of their new songs but not 2 bassists at once. They said Rob is playing on all and Jason said he would sit it out. Zach Harmon had Jason's gear shipped anyway, just as well he did.
Why do they ALWAYS bring out Rob Trujillo when Jason plays with them ? Like, do they need two bass players ? If they're going to play with Jason, then fuckin' play with Jason and tell the other guy to take ten for fucks sake. It's just awkward as hell to be honest.
would have been better Mustaine n Jason playing Mechanix as a huge Fuck off. Just saying...? I always thought Kirk was the weak link. seems hes the only one left. sad :-(
Jason Curtis Newsted (Battle Creek, Míchigan; 4 de marzo de 1963) es un músico estadounidense, conocido por haber sido el bajista de la banda de thrash metal Metallica desde 1986 hasta 2001.
Due to numerous surgeries, Jason cannot play for more than an hour or so, he's stated in interviews that he physically can't pull off Metallica songs anymore.
First of all in my opinion rob is not better than Jason. Second of all, as an artist, few people demand the kind of respect that he does. To believe in yourself enough that when faced with the choice of being part of the greatest heavy metal band ever and everything that goes with that; the fame, the fortune. But you won't ever contribute any ideas to what we're doing. Oh, and by the way, you can't go off and do your own thing on the side bc that would take away from the monster that is Metallica. Or say fuck it. I've got this music in me and I want people to hear it. Not a lot of musicians would make that choice.
He actually starts at the correct time but for some odd reason the delay vocal effect was louder than the initial vocal. Damn Mustaine backstage is at it again!
Happiness is watching Jason perform with Metallica
Jason is the lead bass and robert is rhythm..
Humble Jason at the back sharing mic with the new guy. God bless u Jason.
“The new guy” cracks me up lmfao
5:31 The best Vocals Jason Newsted.

You can be as technical as you want but Jason has more heart and that makes the music sound better
His back up vocals were always pretty brutal as well, in my opinion.

Jason Newsted has the energy of a frontman!

well said
Jason to me is the heart of Metallica his energy is just insane
So much respect that they are all playing together, without excluding either Jason or Rob... Well done guys, it shows great character!
4:39 THE REAL METALLICA...
The one I love and miss
5:30 kinda funny how Jason is Louder than both Rob and Kirk
Double guitar🔥🔥
Double bass🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Not enough Jason in the video. So good to hear his vocals again though
it's funny how James is looking for Jason in the "Master, Master!!" part
Its's habit from good old days
"double bass" actually means this!
Sounds kinda awkward though, bass isn’t an instrument meant to be played in duo (not with the same part at least).
With Robert, Jason, and Kirk, Master finally gets the proper backup vocals it deserves!
Jason is irreplaceable..Newsted energy abundance.. respect.🫴🏾
You mean Jason Newsted featuring Metallica.
Yes
A person's voice change when getting old, but still the Best Heavy Metal Band of All time,.
It's really cool to watch Metallica and guest Robert Trujillo playing together.
The way Lars make his "gorilla" moves when he plays the intro, its so funny

I agree with this crazy ass ide@
Sounds more powerfull with 2 bassits !!
Trujillo doesn't have vocals Newsted had.
agree
1:54 voice crack

...with two bassists playing at the same time, does this increase the probability of actually hearing it? ;-)
get better speakers.
No, James and Lars probably turned down the bass volume
@@thatdamnmanhd7984 The joke
You
Great to see them on stage together again during the induction...😍

This song goes out to Cliff Burton ...
Man whatever you'll said JASON NEWSTED is still the best for me for Metallica 🤘
Why do they ALWAYS bring out Rob Trujillo when Jason plays with them ? Like, do they need two bass players ? If they're going to play with Jason, then fuckin' play with Jason and tell the other guy to take ten for fucks sake. It's just awkward as hell to be honest.
scottiemcnichols it's so you can hear the bass
Because its Metallica INC. (as someone else said) Corporate machine now. CLIFF EM ALL!
would have been better Mustaine n Jason playing Mechanix as a huge Fuck off. Just saying...? I always thought Kirk was the weak link. seems hes the only one left. sad :-(
jason's so cool , all black!
Rob is the best pure bassist but Jason was the heart and soul of Metallica
Muito Pesado!!!!!!!!!!!!!! as guitarras obedecendo a seus mestres!!!!!
7:10 great vocal
Yeah fucked up moments s real!
Said before, but I agree. Rob is technically better, but something about Jason's onstage persona is just superior.
THAT BASS THO🤩
Jason Curtis Newsted (Battle Creek, Míchigan; 4 de marzo de 1963) es un músico estadounidense, conocido por haber sido el bajista de la banda de thrash metal Metallica desde 1986 hasta 2001.
Jason the first bass and vocal...
The double bass should be a permanent thing i love Jason so much n the chemistry between he n rob is a match made in Metal
Sick!
Finally the right amount of bass on a Metallica's song.
Jason Fucking Newsted !!!
Jason superior a trujillo no cabe duda
Best outfits they've had for a gig :P
S & m
no metallica without jason...
I wonder if it ever occured to them.. "Hey.. why CAN'T we have two bassists?"
Jason can't play like this anymore, he has had numerous surgeries on his wrists and shoulders
This is actually perfect, why can’t metallics start performing with Both Jason and Rob
Jason left the band.
Jason can’t play the way he use to.
Due to numerous surgeries, Jason cannot play for more than an hour or so, he's stated in interviews that he physically can't pull off Metallica songs anymore.
@@LuisFlores-gl7kehe just play whole show with his band Newsted, so i think he can
I still don't know why Mustaine wasn't included. Doesn't he have writing credits on their earlier albums?
Cause he got included with Megadeth and he was in band only for one year
MASTER🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Ladies and gentlemen "Metallica, featuring Rob on bass".
Poor james his voice is destroyed hear from being so nervous
Nah man, he wasn't nervous. They were late and James didn't have time to warm his voice up.
Austin Bramer *here
lol nervous? they have played together like 30 years
How is he nervous he’s played in front of sold out stadiums for 30 years for hours not just a few songs like he did here. His voice wasn’t prepped
@@squezer the joke is that he is nervous around 2 bass players
How the hell Jason could made Lars played so tight?
Backing tracks
Can't wait to watch them play November at Mercedes-Benz stadium will be my first Metallica concert will be throwing fist and shoulders in the pit.
Реальные музчины пришли сделать красиво какой-то херне. Но Master of Puppets круто, моя молодость
A tale of two opposite bass players…Jason played so hard and fast that you could barely hear Rob! Rob more versatile, Jason more…Metallica
dual bass guitar makes the sounds deeper LMAO

2x bass :)
Surprised to see jason playing with them
2:12 I thought they were going to kiss:-O
Bagus
Ларс в галстуке??? Да ну нах!!!!!!!
Why does Robert remind me of Argyle from stranger things
2:14 James was an entire beat off
Yeah what in the world happened. Did the echo get to him?
He actually starts at the correct time but for some odd reason the delay vocal effect was louder than the initial vocal. Damn Mustaine backstage is at it again!
2 bass players? I dont get it!!!
Jason and Rob..... bass tone covered
I only hear one bass. Someone must either be faded down in the mix, or was unplugged for the song. Very sloppy, tho
Sounds weak
production was awful. sounds rushed, but I love it!
Sloppy as hell
Is Lars just playing as fast as he can? No soul to this
lars isnt the best example of a good drummer to be honest, but maybe here it being a huge moment got the better of him lol
wtf you talkin about this is the only time i heard him killing it...stop hating so much ffs
Not every critical observation is "hating". Lars doesn't need an apologist. People are so sensitive.
Music Music East a great example of a Heavy drummer in the 80's and 90's. Not in the last ten years for sure.
Yea but he looked sexy as hell with that dressed shirt and tie.....😘
Kirk blowed on this!
Metallica and rob trujillo
i grew up loving tallica, now i just dont get it. its just kinda meh to my ears
Burton / Newstead
Трухильо тут вообще не нужен. Совсем не из этой темы
Master of puppets and orion the best songs of metallica
Master of puppets riff is from a David Bowie song.
