Back on the WEST COAST👐
Good weather, Cali Burritos, beautiful beaches, palm trees & BADASS Hondas... that's California dreamin' for y'all!
It's a West Coast carboy weekend filled with activities from San Diego to LA! We start off our weekend hitting up the homie REXONE's JDM OLDSCHOOL SWAP MEET in SD. It was a good time catching up with all the DAYGO homies that I haven't seen in over a month, as well as checking out what cool misc. golden era Honda parts & accessories were for sale. Of course, our local homies had to come correct & bring out some clean rides for the rest of us to enjoy👌
On the following day, we made the short drive up towards Whittier, CA to attend Joey Lee (@stickydiljoe)'s CHRONICLES & COFFEE at the R COMPOUND USA Headquarters. Catching up with more homies coming from LA & Riverside areas & definitely more dope SOCAL Honda Builds to take a good look at! The turn out was absolutely insane, all that heat parked in the rows around the area definitely drew in some more heat from the outside but as always, we still enjoyed our time.
Such a dope weekend to be back in town! Seeing all these fresh Hondas, from oldskool EA-T & EF hatches, track-ready EG's, B-series & K-series swapped EK Civics, even a few real deal JDM classics like DC2 Integra Type-R & EK9, not to mention all the rare Mugen & Spoon goodies people are rocking.. it's really starting to blend the lines between The Land of the Rising Sun & the Side with the BEST sunsets🌅
We did enjoy our time in Japan for sure but there really is no place like home🌴🌊☀️😎

Is it me or do EJ1 Civics Coupes not get a lot of love generally. Maybe because I'm always looking out for them but there numbers seem low at meets.
I think hatches are more popular since they’re lighter and have JDM counterparts but there are a few people who will say that the coupes have their advantages too👍
@@boomboomtisk yeah I hear you I get the lightness factor for track like Grid life for example but for street Coupes work just as well especially since the Integra is about the same ( supposed to be the best FWD). I heard EJ1 s have a better drag coefficient but I'm not certain. When you were in Japan ( I think it's your vid) they only had one purplish EJ1 on the track it could be a Rough smoke vid though. Yeah EJ1 s didn't do to well in Japan numbers wise.
yeah EJ1’s in Japan are especially uncommon. I’m not even sure if it was a car the was marketed much but from what I’ve seen, I think Honda markets coupes in general more towards the US market. Nonetheless, a few well-built examples can be seen both stateside and in Japan & it’s refreshing to see them when they come around!
@@boomboomtisk Yes EJ1 Coupes were sold in Japan with heavy USA marketing. I heard ( not sure how true) that is was sold with a D16A engine and that put the car in a higher tax bracket ( 1600cc that's why most have 1500(D15B). The Japanese people didn't think it was worth it for what they got so sales were poor. The Customer Body kit scene ate them up though I guess because they were cheap and the Fast and the Furious influence later on. I'm not sure though if all that is true
