    My favorite drummer. There is not another drummer is, or ever was, who would have played like that.

    It sounds like 4 drummers playing at once 😳 Keith really was the only lead drummer in rock!

    Keith Moon was sadly a force of nature that could not be tamed. "Better to burn out than fade away."

    The sheer balls to completely disregard where the 1 is and play those fills in the most outrageous places! Most drummers don't have the balls to even attempt it! Including me

    did he play a double kick drum setup on this record?

    • @scottmoore4582
      @scottmoore4582 2 года назад +1

      It's a Ludwig Maple double bass drum kit he's playing on the album.I know Glyn Johns took away parts of the kit away to keep Keith from overplaying and concentrate on keeping time.

      He mainly used his 2 kick drums for playing flams

      He doesn’t even use a hi hat on live at Leeds lol he uses his left bass drum to keep time and add flams

    Massively overrated

    • @jdh9676
      @jdh9676 8 месяцев назад +3

      I don't think you understand drumming. And if so just salty for some reason. There is nothing overrated about Keith Moon's playing. He was perfect at what he did. No one who understands a drummers foremost function in a band can listen to this track, and many other examples, and deny that. The evidence is right there in front of us. He was in fact brilliant.

      Let’s see: among others, Tony Williams, Billy Cobham, Carl Palmer, Neal Peart, Phil Collins, Stewart Copeland, Cozy Powell, Roger Taylor, Mike Portnoy and Max Weinberg all greatly disagree with you, and those Legends are just off the top of my head.
      Both Kenney Jones and Simon Phillips, Legends in their own right, didn’t even bother trying to replicate Keith Moon, saying it’s impossible as what he brought to the table was ultimately irreplaceable.
      While Keith Moon’s style may not be your cup of tea, you’re wrong when you say he’s “Massively overrated”.

    • @jongawel4589

      When people praise Moon, it's not really about his ability to function in the typical role of a drummer. Like, no, he was not nearly as refined as guys like Peart or the big time session drummers. He didn't try to be. He attempted to feel and propel the music forward. And he did it in really audacious ways that creatively spoke back to the rest of the group. He wasn't a student of the drums the way that many drummers are. The drums were not his craft. They were his medium. I think that's where a lot of the disconnect stems from.

      @@vinceventresca6763A lot of drummers don't really understand Moon. They hear a guy who is just playing a bunch of crude fills in inappropriate places. Moon saw it as having a conversation with the other three members and adding another voice to the piece. He wasn't really concerned with the technical details. That does not jibe with the ethos of a lot of guys who consider the drums their craft, embrace a more nuanced role, and judge performances by how technically sophisticated they are.

      If you listen to Neil peart closely you will hear Keith moon all over. Both play hard rock beats with amazing explosive fills. Not me saying - Neil peart says that. According to the professor, buddy, moon and Mitchel were the greats
