The Four Best Sites to Search for Free Sound Effects

A lot of sites claim to have Free Sound FX, but are only free for non-commercial use, require attribution, or have complicated licensing. Here are my favorite 4 sites to search for free sounds with no strings attached. Plus bonus sites where you can download over 50 GB of free sound FX.

Thanks, Tristin. This one took a lot of work, but I think the information is still pretty solid. If you do end up downloading any of the massive sets of free FX from places like SONNOX I mention in the video, one trick I've learned is to just use Windows search. I'll just search my entire sound effects folder for something like "car." Thanks for writing.

One thing I've learned since making this video (maybe obvious) is that after you download these huge packages of free samples from sound fx companies, you can do searches on your hard drive for something like "car" and you can get useful results. You don't need to have one of those pro products that searches through metadata. Between my collection and freesound.org, I can usually find what I'm looking for.

Thanks! I agree about the non-commercial license. In my research I found so many sites that were supposedly free. Yes, free, if you only used them on your computer. Of course, everything is free if you don't show them to anybody!😀
