Hell ya. I honestly don’t feel like modern forks are any better, besides the weight. And maybe how stiff they have been able To make a single crown fork
I've ridden vintage Marzocchi Z1 and Z2 forks before, and it looks like their DH forks were in a similar boat: not quite sensitive enough on technical terrain, yet like a plush pillow on drops and big hits. Of course, at one point in time, there were very few forks that could compare to what Marzocchi was building.
One of my favorite things about your videos is the actual quality of the footage. The image looks super crisp and clear and it feels like you have the angle of the gopro nailed. The videos are always really enjoyable to watch, and Its actually cool when a rider is in front of you because it gives a better prospective of what ever jump or feature your doing.
Nice to see so many of our features in the vid. Glad you enjoyed them. There is so much more if you explore, I can guarantee there are neat features you have never ridden.
Great video mixing old with the new. I loved all the old oil bath forks back in the day and thought they were great for tech which is mostly what we rode in the mid 90's early 2000's. I still think I preferred my 1998 Boxxers over my new ones and wish I still had them. My old 90's Marzocchi bomber Z1's felt so good and were bullet proof!
I mean actually the Butcher is such a brilliant tire and it is so versatile to be ridden on various terrains, stoked on the tire as well as the monster Marzocchi!
I love the idea it would be cool to see you do a project with the super monster and a modern custom bike chassis which is specially built for giant suspension
I just sorta did something similar. I fitted an old Fox 40 from 2006 on a 2018 Banshee rune. So far, feels great on intermediate trails. I'm looking forward to see how it performs on the real gnarl at the bike park, once the season starts next spring.
Awesome video, a wee back story I used tomrace DH on my Giant ATX ONE back in 2001/04 I had these forks on it they were the Daddy then! I had a bad accident and then life took over usual Story but just this year actually new years day I went and ordered my first embt the cube action team 160 with fox float 160mm on rear and forlx 38 170mm on front and bosch smart system so I'm like the total opposite I have never ridden a modern geometry mtb yet or tried out new suspension I've just got my helmet and pads this week the pads came today and been adding invisaframe so tomorrow is going to be my first day out on this thing! It's going to be soooo different from what I remember lol
Im so sorry for you buying that cube god bless. If you ride that bike an feel like wow modern bikes are shit nah it’s because its a cube the q in Cube stands for quality sadly(hope you get the joke)
You can also use any 888 with 27.5 and tested a 66 titanium with 27.5. Great forks. Use to have a scott gambler 2016 with a set of 888. Open bath 's are amazing forks. Cheers from Costa Rica!! Great vid!
I don't care what people think, I love the Monster forks! New light forks do feel better on high frequency stuff. You can really feel all that wait moving, but love the squish.
Im interested in the tuning you are doing. I have a jr t and I would like to fine tune a few things on it as well beyond upping the oil viscosity to adjust rebound
If this was recorded like in january 22-26,im stoked. Here in bosnia the temps are super low and its super cold im suprised the temps are good there , i hope i can get back to riding soon.
2:40 Hey, Jordan, is this some smoothing mode for GoPro? Because this kind of slight shaking is not so typical, yet adds so much immersion to the ride. (probably, the answer is somewhere there but I overlooked it, sorry about that)
i now have a set of marazzochi bomber junior t's ( tripple crowns ) because i can't use my Norco atomik anymore. Took it to a shop and they snapped the bb bolt for the bracket that allows the bike frame to flex. can't get a replacement bolt either. pretty salty about that.. my whole headset is Husselfelt. i also have a fox coil that i could prolly sell too. no reservoir on it though.
I run a xc bike from 2008. Specialized FSR Expert. The geometry is clearly outdated but the fork feels pretty damn amazing to this day. Im quite an advocate for it lol
Great video Jordan! I am just curious about the internals of the Marzocchi Shiver forks - are they "tuneable" as Monster ones? It would be nice seeing Shiver forks in this Maiden :D
Hey man, I don't know a lot of suspentions, but what about making a custom monster ultra light?? Kinda like a remake with modern extentions and lighter stuf, I would love to see something that crazy
That fork looks amazing , maybe I will buy a 170mm double crown marzocchi on my old harcore hardtail :]]] would be sick ig , idk love those old parts they were different ...
One trend in modern mountainbiking I don't get is those super wide handlebars. Like what purpose are they supposed to fullfil, I saw people with bars 15cm wider than my dirtbike...
Hello Jordan, I would like to ask you since you're more into old suspension than many people I know of. I currently own a mk1 capra which has an air shock, but I would like to upgrade it to a coil shock. A friend of mine has a dhx 5.0 and I have a monarch rc3. Do you think it would be worth it? Would I get any noticeable performance gains? Thanks a lot in advance
hey man thanks for the vid got me into this im buying a new bike can i go to a bikeshop and let them built my bike with the parts they come with i dont know and dont live near one (2.3 hours away) so i dnt want oo get send way btw nice vid thx and have a nice day (inglish is not my first languige)
Technically those forks don't come stock with 190mm travel. They are a true 8" of travel. However, if yours are less, that means someone likely reduced the travel at some point. I was a bike mechanic during the early 2000's and had never come across a monster t that didn't have 8" unless it was reduced or from 2002 and prior.
@@JordanBoostmaster wow, super interesting.. I've never come across any other than the T2's from 2003 onwards that had less. I believe they were adjustable to 175mm or it was an option? Been a solid 20 years since I've worked on many of them other than the ones I've owned over the years. Perhaps due to the age the springs have sagged a bit? That would be my only guess.. haha I know the Shiver's came stock with 190mm, but the Monster's were always 200mm in my own experience. Either way, 190mm of buttery smooth open bath is amazing regardless.. haha Anyway, loved this video! I've always wanted to throw monster T's on a modern bike ever since I measured that they can use 27.5. Wanted to put them on my mk7 V10 soooo bad.. haha It was amazing watching them eat up the BC jank like nothing in your video.. haha Cheers
@@jordie00bogart @JordanBoostmaster gen1 monster t is 175mm then the 2 gen you get 2 monster t models both 200mm changing only the adustment capability and las but not least the Super Monster T with 300mm
These forks came stock with 187+\- travel despite the claimed 200mm stock travel. Both the 2003/04 monster and t2 did not have more than 190 stock ever.
That’s the same rear shock I have on my 2008 Glory. Got a big pair of Marzocchi Bombers on the front that need a serious rebuild. I’ve needed to put the teeniest bit of air in them because I am a big boy. I maxed the preload and was still bottoming out the front. Problem is it’s near impossible to find an adaptor for it. I’ve really had to adjust riding for both the old geometry, size (Medium; I’m 5’11”), and weak front end.
I hope you like the video! Do you wanna see any more like this?

Your passion and enthusiasm always show through the commentary and editing, also I'm fearing every sketchy parts as if I was there!
New frame/geo meets old tech. I love it!
I just upgraded from 2007 Spec. Enduro to 2020 Mega. What a difference!! (obviously)
Do you have anything in the works of getting a custom frame with more modern geometry for the Boost Monster?
@@makeitwithmurm yes I am working on something
This needs to be a more common occurrence. Old open bath suspension (when set up correctly) is the best feeling suspension when things get gnarly
Hell ya. I honestly don’t feel like modern forks are any better, besides the weight. And maybe how stiff they have been able To make a single crown fork
Love it Jordan, that fork on a modern bike is just 👌🔥

Marzocchi Monsters Rocks! 🤙
Oh yes! I might have missed the patreon video but im excited about this video!!
That’s so much travel!!! And do you what do you use to mount your GoPro? Do you use a gimbal?
Sick video bro! 😎
I still have my Specialized bighit with the Jr. T and fox coil shock. I am interested in updating it because it worked so well as a freerider.
Yeah Jordan we all know you are a Free-rider at heart but it’s so sick to see you ride these tech trails so well but my heart was in my mouth at 5:59
You know it’s a good day when Jordan posts 🥰
Really solid hits on the Brutus dude!!!
if you want you can tune those 190 monsters into 230mm many ppl were doing it in the streetetz era

Wtg JB , experience prevails again
I'm not surprised the monster T did so well. I use a 1999 Jr T on my single speed (since 2005) but do ride anything as extreme
So sick to see you uploading again, loving the videos
Sick video jordan!

the footage at that point had a slower shutter speed, so it looked different, not as stable

Hi there Jordan, I love the vids, just a quastion though, What action camera are you using, i'd suggest an osmo action 4, it just looks the best
Im using the gopro hero 12, the osmo action 4 looks good too
Omw you replied❤ I have the osmo action 3 and coming from a gopro hero 11, it looks amazing🎉
Cool bike man
That's crazy how even with 4 fewer inches of suspension travel you STILL don't bottom it out and it's smooth as pudding either way.

brands need to release legacy rebuild kits. i got 06 boxxer world cups
Jersey shore looks freakin awesome 🤯 I wish i'd have a trail like this in my vicinity.. 🙄
What did you do about the straight steer tube? Did you need to install an adapter?
you just need the right kind of crown race, that's all
is it possible to tune the shock too?
I'll watch later, love your work .but.... If its good enough to buy at that price DON'T CHANGE IT !
Why you have such great weather, i`m jealous 😀

Am I the only one who thanks the monster t, how the shock lowers extend down past the axel is a little scary
it does become susceptible to hitting things!
They only added that for later models. The original versions (like my friend and I rode) had more normal lowers. I guess it improves bushing overlap?
switch the new sus onto an old frame???
