    I had an MI in Dec of 2019, my cardiologist didn't do a calcium score or a metabolic workup and didn't even care that I was prediabetic. I studied on my own and decided to start Keto, lost 27 lbs, got my A1c down to 4.7, started supplements to reduce coronary calcium (D3, K2, and others) and exercise daily (walking for 40 mins). I recently asked for a Insulin Resistance test and it showed that I was at 12 (33 is prediabetic). I now requested a CAC test (my cardiologist wasn't even sure what it was) and will go in tomorrow for it. I wish Dr Jamnadas was here in Phoenix. Thank you for all you do and share with us.

    • @captainadams7569
      @captainadams7569 Год назад +12

      To distal in the lad, yet my cardiologist never told me. He said I was fine except my injection fraction was lower then he expected. It was 55 to 60% (which is considered normal.) The only reason I knew about the blockages is b/c I went to the hospital and requested my test results. I advise everyone to get a copy of your labs and test. These Drs want you to be on drugs so they can get their commission.

      @@captainadams7569 Since I first wrote this over a year ago, I have increased my walk to an hour and half (5.5 miles). My weight holds steady at 175 lbs, which I consider the perfect weight for my height (6ft). I previously suffered from Ulcerative Colitis for years and the symptoms for this have completely disappeared for the past 2 years (since starting keto). I do regular intermittent fasting, and HIIT training when I walk/jog. I am no longer taking the plant sterols or the K2+D3 as my diet gives my body what it needs. My BP is perfect and my ketones are solidly in the optimal range. Keto is the way to crack the code on good health.

      It is crazy how insurance companies will cover the disease but not the prevention. My husband's PSA test levels continued to show increases. His dad and brother both had prostrate cancer so although he was under seventy we had concerns. Our insurance company would cover PSA tests more than every two years, so we paid for them. I did call the insurance company and suggested they look at the things they waste money on. I told them cancer is much more expensive than preventative testing. Sure enough, he got prostrate cancer, so it was good that we paid for the tests ourselves and caught it while it was still contained in the prostrate..

    I learned more in this video than I have learned from my cardiologist and surgeon(CABG) in the months leading up to my surgery and the year since my surgery. They told me after the surgery (95% blockage on the widow maker) that I still had a 75% blockage on my right artery. The surgeon told me not to delay having a stent put in, but my cardiologist said he won't put one in until there is 80% blockage and he would check me again 12 months after my CABG! I have had mild chest pain on and off since the surgery and have been to ER a couple of times. If they did the calcium and metabolic tests I am not aware of it. I think I am going to look for another cardio doc.

    Excellent video. I'm 61 yrs. Old. A runner. I've run almost 10k miles. I've never had health issues in my life. After some DNA finding I decided to get a calcium scan. My score lead me to a cardiac ct which found I have heart decease with 35% blockage in the LAD. I would have never known. My calcium scan cost 100 dollars and 10 min of my time. Everyone should have the scan done.

      @NotTelling51 lots of runners have calcium build up!! The reason for this is not enough" rest" for repair in the heart to make it simple .....so the stretching from the stress builds up inflammation and gets calcified or it could have been from a infection such as strep throat or staphylococcus from bad teeth or root canal

    • @NotTelling51

    Great info and Dr. J is so right. My older surfer brother, not a ounce of fat on him, was getting chest pains while surfing what would be his very last time. A week later, he went to get stress test and had double carotid artery stroke during the test that almost killed him. They did not give him ANY clot busting meds in fear of the clots going to brain and killing him. 3 months later had scan of the carotid arteries at a vascular surgeon office, and by some divine intervention, they saw NO blockage in the carotids. 6 months later when he was better recovered from the double stroke, he went in again for the heart scan and the next day he had quadruple bypass, having 2 arteries 90% blocked, the others 75% blocked. I am still amazed at how he had all this happen and how he recovered. Sad thing is that he avoided doctors and did not take any BP meds as he knew we had very high BP genetically. Me and my other bro had been taking small BP meds last 10 years. Anyway, somethings defy logic but watching Dr Jamnadas is amazing and his instant recall of what he knows is also very wonderful, truly a very, very smart man, I am lucky that he is near me and I probably will go see him soon to get a thorough check out. He is the only doc I have seen to list his prices on his website for procedures and also lab work. I have lab blood work to get done and was not able to get actual cost to me from the lab, even with my insurance!!! What a scam they run! I think it said on his website that they got so tired of dealing with all the different insurance payment amounts, they mainly do only cash pay labs and for a full CBC, the cost listed was 33 bucks!!!!! Thank You, thank You Dr. Jamnadas!!!!!!!!!! Happy New Year!!!

They immediately prepped her for surgery. After surgery due to her having gone 3 hours without treatment they gave her 5 years at the most & she passed 5 years to the day November 12th, 1986. Just went into a cardiologist. My general doc was frustrated because I wouldn't take a statin based on High LDL and Trigs. So I went carnivore and am fasting (use to do keto). I've lost 15 pounds and will stay on until I get my BMI to 22. I did a barrage of my own tests (CRP, ApoB, LDL(a), insulin) through Quest Labs. I have high markers for all but insulin--which is great--I've used fasting for years to avoid Type II Diabetes. After seeing the cardiologist he told me, I could have stopped testing at LDL. (UGH) So I asked him for a CAC. Cardiologist willing to make referral but only if I'm open to taking statins. Otherwise he says it s a waste of time. And BTW insurance doesn't cover it!! So setting up a CAC appointment. Did Ask about the new - PCSK9 inhibitor instead of statin and doc says he can only prescribe that if someone is resistant to statins. Why does everything come down to stains all the time?!

He had no chest pains after the heart attack left him with only 36% of his heart rest was damaged. His only warning was 2 times with in a few weeks before he passed out while once pulling on a pull start engine on landscape chipper, and another time working on a fence. Most people would go to the ER if they woke up on the ground wondered what happened. He thought it was heat related on a hot day.

    I guess it's fate, or just good timing, that I found your channel this week doc. I went to my cardiologist last week for a yearly checkup. I asked for a coronary artery calcium score, and he said I didn't need it. Just basically dismissed me like I was an idiot. And in the same visit, he says he knows I have calcium, because the ct scan shows it, and everyone my age has some plaque. So I leave with a prescription for low dose statin and low dose aspirin, and no CAC score. This is why people like me have a hard time trusting the medical establishment. I guess I just need to move to Florida!

    So happy to find your videos, thank you for your compassion caring spirit . Physicians are taught to diagnose and treat patients, not so much to teach folks how to remain or be healthy. I’m a believer that we should be advocates in our own health. We get a manual with a vehicle telling us how it runs and how to maintain to last . We should know how our bodies work and how to maintain good health. We need more physicians like you. I have always kept copies of my yearly labs and compare them from year to year, it’s my manual, usually the nurse calls says we got your results doc said it’s normal. What I see is my lipids increasing, so before I get a call I need statins, I watch my diet keeping in check. I’m having medical issues now testing next week. I wish I could have you for my cardiologist, however you are helping by educating me to ask questions. So thank you for that. God bless you truly beautiful man ❤

    This video well explained this condition, and I'm very appreciative.
    A couple weekends ago, I spent an evening in the ER with chest...discomfort...I guess you could say. It wasn't pain, and I wasn't having difficulty breathing, but I've been having a lot of tightness or tension on both sides of my neck, along my collarbone, on both sides of my chest, and behind my left shoulder. It's not all at once, and it's not constant. The pain or discomfort does not extend below my ribcage or in the lower center of my torso area.
    While there, they did an EKG, x-ray, multiple blood tests, and then a CT scan bc my d-dimer levels were slightly elevated. The scan was with contrast. I was not seen by a cardiologist while I was there, just regular ER docs. They said my heart and lungs look good, and they didn't see any blood clots. They told me it was unlikely I'd had a heart attack, but they did recommend a stress test. I contacted my primary care doc the next day, and she referred me for a consultation with a cardiologist. My appointment is in 2 weeks. Unfortunately, that was the earliest I could get in.
    My question is - how likely is it that they checked my calcium build-up or score while I was in the ER? Is it likely they only did a high level check of the scan results? Would a cardiologist take a more in-depth look? Thank you in advance.

Kaiser Dr useless so I got a referral from a cardiologist for free and paid 71 dollars to have it done. Very cheap especially here in California. Test showed zero. I've been fighting high triglycerides for the last 3 years so this was reassuring. Watching my carbs taking many supplements and kind of doing carnivore eating for last 2 months along with IF 16/8 M-F. DHEA and pregnenolone daily has also helped me big time; for us seniors lol.
