i'm doing timing chains on my 2001 grand marquis and that last bolt trick absolutely saved the day, thank you!!
I have a complete walkthrough on the chains with the cam holding tools if you’re interested ruclips.net/video/rqsWUZjDtnY/видео.html
This is the best vid ive found on changing the steering pump! Well done homie!! And thanks!
That last bolt, will help someone. 💪😁
Thanks using this video to do a power steering delete
انا اعتقد انه في كل الحالات يجب ازالة خط الضغط لتركيب المسمار و تثبيت المضخة الجديدة
how or what tools do you use to remove and reinstall the power steering line?
Crows foot wrenches
Thank you for the tip, this worked for me!
I still could not get the line off to get that bolt out, so I had to cut the line. Good thing I had new line. I think if you are not replacing the line you have to pull the wheel.
Ford engineers must have been smoking crack when designing the fitment of our engines.
Yep. The 1999-2004 Mustang GT would have been better if it were two inches wider on both sides; or four inches wider in total. There is zero to no clearance in many installation or reinstallation jobs on this vehicle. For example: the starter. C'mon, why the need to remove the exhaust to replace a starter?
Thanks for this video. One question, the bolt that is difficult to get out because it hits the line. My car has an oil leak from that bolt. When I took that bolt out a lot of oil came out. Does that bolt need sealant on it?
I wonder if the bolt punched through the pump housing or something. You can try putting some Rtv up in it and hope it seals. It might be leaking from the pump and just going into the hole
@@dannyjohnsonsgarage thanks. I did clean up the bolt and hole and use some rtv. It seems to have fixed the leak. I just wonder if I am forcing the oil somewhere else.
How did u get the line off
This video intends to drop the pump without removing a line. To remove the line you’ll need a crows foot ruclips.net/video/AtK6Z_DTe2I/видео.htmlsi=FJcldw0mdA92Ko6n
Great tip
Will a 2v power steering pump fit on the 4v? As in are they interchangeable
Yes most of the 4.6l v8 s use the same power steering pumps
Hello, Mr. Johnson, can the power steering fluid line be removed where this problematic bolt is located? Sunday, June 25th, 2023.
Yes, I warn about this process because I bent the line my first time doing it. You can remove the line, but it’s difficult and best to use a crows foot. You will loose the fluid and need to bleed it ruclips.net/video/AtK6Z_DTe2I/видео.html
@@dannyjohnsonsgarage Sunday, June 25th, 2023. After doing some research on this project, I noticed that the lower-left bolt was still on the pump and rubbing up on the fluid line. I thought to myself, "this is working". I moved on to the power steering reservoir. The studbolt-looking stem bolts shooting out from the timing chain cover needed some work for they were kind of crooked or bent. Probably when pulling the engine out of the trooper car or reinstalling in the GT. Nevertheless, I threaded the 13mm nut on partially and gave it some whacks with the persuasion tool, (the hammer), and it straightened out. After this, I dry fit the reservoir. It seems to have set in the right place. The sun already went down here in Texas, but it is still very hot. Presently, it is 9:20pm central time and it is still 101 degrees. I called it a night. Tomorrow is another day. I want to thank you on your prompt response. In addition, thank you for your support.
I add, I didn't touch the powersteering pump. I'll get to that later.
Why can the entrance of my power steering pressure hose be blocked it became blocked once I took the old one out and tried to place the new one
Does that line have a special o ring,,, that goes on it. I removed the line and apon reinstalling it keeps leaking
Yes, a nylon ring ruclips.net/video/AtK6Z_DTe2I/видео.html
Great tip. Leave it to Ford to design something dumb like this lol.
I just got a bad leak😵💫
Easy but the worst job ever on these cars. Screw by the line takes 2 days to come out 😡
Mine has a bracket on the line by the screw. Ford will make you mad at times 😂
Question I have a 2009 GT and the boat underneath that you say I might have a problem with it it’s not there it seems to only be three
Just make sure as you remove any of the bolts that they don’t hit a power steering line. They may have changed it for your year
@@dannyjohnsonsgarage In the later production years they omitted the 4th bolt. This is a common thing to do on the f150s that share the same pump. I didn't replace the 4th bolt on my expy and it's fine. I will also omit the 4th bolt from my mustang
