    Can't use the crown Vic intake, it aims the wrong direction, also you don't need to swap wire harnesses. Otherwise spot on video.
    Edit: some of the panther platforms have oil coolers on the filter housing, which the mustang chassis doesn't support, so if it has the cooler replace it with the mustang housing.

    • @904Saleen
      @904Saleen  Год назад +7

      Some great info I forgot to mention right here. For sake of simplicity though, it’s easier to reuse your mustang harness. I was pretty sure you can use the Vic intake manifold but have to swap the plenum to a mustang one. I believe the manifolds are the same for both.

Also the coolant temp sensor on newer 4.6 is on the head under the intake manifold sonyou will have to wire it up to factory harness as new intakes dont have the original temp sensor location drilled and tapped on the newer crownvic 4.6.

    96- 00 crown vics are NPI engines. They Have Different cyl heads/intake/pistons. Cylinder head ports are much smaller than the later PI. NPI pistons have less of a dish. It all depends on what you intend to do with the car. Staying with the older mod motors is more cost effective especially when it comes to power adders. Plus they are pretty much plug and play in comparison to a coyote swap

      This is a Saleen Series 2 supercharger which is basically a Magnuson MP90. The Cobra has an Eaton M112 which is whole different setup. If you're looking to install a Cobra blower on your car, I'd look into the Tork Tech kit. It allows you to run any blower designed to fit on a Cobra.

      I'd look into some of the supercharger kits that are available. Some kits like the Tork Tech will need the separate purchase of other supporting mods, and the blower itself, and require some modification as well. Saleen kits, if they are complete will bolt on directly and just need a tune, but there are some mods to fix some defects I would highly recommend. Another great kit is one from Jonse Speedlab which is basically a modernized version of the Saleen S281-E 2.3L Whipple Kit which comes with everything you need. You can also go the Vortech route too.

      As far as I'm aware, you should be able to swap the heads and be good to go. The 4v's in the 99-01 Cobras, Mach 1s, Marauders use the same block casting, pistons, and rods as a 2v. The main difference just being the top end. But the motor swap should look roughly the same overall in terms of process, minus swapping the heads/timing if you choose the go that route.

      The 4R70W if maintained can be a good transmission. The gearing is just rather long. If you're staying NA, I'd recommend pairing it with some higher gears like 4.10s. If you're going boosted, I wouldn't swap to any gears higher than 3.73s. Just be weary about the overdrive servo failing. It can cause a slip from 3rd to 4th gear. But those transmissions with some cranked up line pressure can shift hard and fast.
