Just got back from watching this and I loved every minute of it. Certainly didn't feel like 2 and a half hours, although that would explain why my legs didn't seem to work when I tried standing up again at the end of it.
As soon as the early reviews confirmed that this film was crafted as a vehicle for a Phoebe Waller-Bridge spinoff I turned my back on it. Raiders will forever be untouchable and that's all I really need.
100% Agree with Phoebe Waller Bridge's character - she really became frustrating during the film, from the start of the film just didn't work. Going to be honest really dissapointed in the movie, it just did not work, for me it's on a par with Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
This is the most disappointed 8.5/10 review of all time
Me and the wife went to see it this afternoon we absolutely loved it thought it was action packed. Didn’t even mind the Helena character and can’t recall her bossing indy around? The opening half hour is like a mini sequel to last crusade
I like the beginning sequence but absolutely that Helena punches and knocks Indy out in the third act.
Saw first showing and loved it 😎
Wow. Thanks for the review Paul. I’m seeing it this Sunday. Will lower my expectations a little bit I think. Which is probably a good thing. Hey. Look after yourself. I love watching your posts and hope you know how much some of us enjoy what you do! Especially in Australia. So Thank you!
I enjoyed it for what it is. Phoebe didn’t bother me too much but the issue you talk about is rife in all movies and TV at the moment. It’s not perfect by a long stretch but it’s entertaining. Mangold is no Spielberg and that hurt the film a little in it’s style of the old serial films that these films are based on. Great films like we used to get (like the original trilogy) are sadly long gone especially from DISNEY! Writers, producers and directors all play it safe nowadays and that’s hurting the film industry not too mention the awful streaming services. The original trilogy of films will always be best but these last two are like little bookends that are there to simply remind you how good the original trilogy is. I gave it 8/10.
Not looking forward to it I may see at cinema but I may buy Blu-ray not fussed tbh love the original trilogy 💿👍
Seeing this tomorrow, was suprised by your score, based on review thought you was marking it lot lower. Didn't realise it was 2 1/2 hours either
Maybe if Steven Spielberg directed it might not of been a disappointment mate.
With all due respect, this is Disney. This should have never been your most anticipated movie for two whole years lol. I love the old Indiana Jones. I am going to see this one out of respect for Harrison and John Williams. Last Disney film I am ever touching. I’m going in with low expectations. And I am expecting a random fun Indy film. Never am I comparing this movie to the originals. Because let’s all face it. This is corporate Hollywood. Not art like it once was. Great review! :)
Hi Paula. Your review was quite fair. I missed this movie at the cinema but got to watch the blu ray last week. Was surprised how much I enjoyed it. I agree it’s got a few faults but overall it was great to see Indy in one final adventure. Mads is a brilliant actor. Think you’re spot on - as a strong nazi villain he should have been nastier and unpleasant! Suspect they wanted to ensure a 12A rating! At the end of the day, it’s 8 out of 10 from me and much better than the crystal skull 😀
You thought this was going to be the best film of the year?. The way Disney are these days this is about the quality you should expect.
Wow going by your review 8:5 seems high,
I gave it a 4/5 think it’s a entertaining film
Better than Crystal skull but not as good as the trilogy
People aren’t gonna agree and that’s fine too
People like to think only they’re opinion is right
Good to see you being honest about it and not following the crowd
These days if one person trashes it they all join in lol
My review was more positive and I gave it a lower rating lol work that one out lol
I’m so excited for this movie!
I haven't watched this yet but I just finished Raiders of the Lost Ark
Hello, just wanted to see how you’re doing after your video a few days ago saying you’re taking a break
The problem these days is that politically right-wing people have taken against women being portrayed as equal to men. Had the original films come out now they’d be lambasted for allowing women into the plot at all, apart from a nominal love interest. I’ve yet to see this film, but the critics reviews I’ve seen are that this is a pretty decent film. It is the 5th Indy, what other series is still even half-decent by this stage? We were lucky with Connery bringing some weight and comedy to Last Crusade that bucked the trend that otherwise is downward. Everything these days from Hollywood is getting worse as they just re-boot, give us sequels and franchise everything. It’s just corporate insecurity. I just wish that all these women-hating whingers would shut up and move on. 8.5/10 is a very good score, which makes me think you enjoyed it rather more than your comments let on, and maybe you’re concerned that all the moaners on YT will turn on you if you don’t moan along with them. I’ve not come across you before as these kind of films are not my go-to for a cinema visit or blu ray purchase. I just hope that you enjoy it more on a second viewing. Indy films are about entertainment, they’re meant to be light and fluffy popcorn fare, not to be taken seriously.
I'll lower my expectations of the film when I see it next week. I thought Phoebe Waller Bridges character seemed a bit bossy in the trailer but hey ho I'll still watch it anyway Pauly.
Your review seems like it's more 7 out of 10 than an 8.5. The movie got a bit far-fetched towards the end.
2008: Aliens in an Indiana Jones movie.... "Too far fetched."
2023: official American government announced that UFOs are REAL.
Not so far fetched anymore, i guess.
for me, the most far fetched and ridiculously bad about Crystal Skull aren't the aliens, or the fridge stuff...it's the swinging with the monkeys.
Dial of Destiny...it's quite good, actually...at least, considering the 80-year old Harrison Ford still playing the lead... I think they did all they could do with it and still pull off a decently FUN Indiana Jones movie, in the truest sense.
Unless I missed it, you never said where you would rank it among the Indiana Jones films
He done a ranking video he ranked it number 3 in the franchise
@@derekfairlie6147 thanks
So yesterday, there was a big dramatic "I'm taking a break video" and today there's a new video? Guess the previous vid was clickbait and I'm not amused.
Nope, I did say they’ll be 1 or 2 videos over the next 2 weeks
Are you sure your name is not karen saying stuff like “clickbait and I’m not amused” big Pauly don’t owe us any explanation
Hi Pauly I am going to see Indiana Jones and the dial of destiny with my stepdad . I am looking forward for trailer for Loki season two and a teaser trailer for Deadpool 3 , KarlUrban has joined the cast of mortal Kombat 2 what will the movies are you excited for? I am going to see Mission Impossible dead, reckoning part one on Saturday
I thought it was an interesting adventure movie but too long though and maybe an interesting ending for the franchise and interesting scenes and cgi was ok despite some of the problems and from crystal skull
Hope you get better soon Pauly you don’t really seem yourself in the last few videos you seem a bit down your health is the most important thing my friend
Helena scenes are trash along with disappointment of worse than expected paceing and substandard action scenes.
IMHO go watch mission impossible, Oppenheimer and barbie instead.
I asked cinepolis for a refund due to bad indy 5 and there being a small rip in the movie screen.
I'm an indy fan that likes the live action show at Hollywood studios but the indy 5 movie was a letdown since for 300 million I was expecting a far better movie.
I won't be seeing this. Might watch it on TV in a year or two but I'm not wasting money watching this at the cinema
I enjoyed it and thought it was a good conclusion for Harrison Ford. The original trilogy will always be the best and never could be touched but it definitely was an improvement over crystal skull. I’m glad they made this one for a better ending than we got with crystal skull. A fun movie 8/10 for me
So Kathleen Kennedy is now Indy's enemy as well as SW. She's on a roll! I'm an Indy fan, I'll still watch it, but I've always felt this film was so unnecessary.
The ending was absurd and ridiculous rushed and horrible.... The 3rd act took it from a 7 out of 10 to a 3.....what are Disney thinking? Where's the screenwriters.? Where's the talent. 5 writers. Wow bring back the aliens and certainly bring back Spielberg..... Can he be bettered really? No. The end was tripe. Turd total rubbish. 😢😢😮😮
Wow,, Pauly after hearing how disappointed you was with this film,,
Im absolutely amazed you gave it 8.5 /10,,,
WTF,,,, lol 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I enjoyed the film but there were a few flaws otherwise I would’ve given the film a 10

Not seen it, but it’s Disney. So it will be awful. I’ll wait till it streams on Disney+. I also expect to see more Indiana Jones films and possibly spin off series…. Disney love quantity over quality!!
So you hate Disney so much you support them by subscibing to their streaming service? A service which, in part, is another thing killing movies.
8 and half out of 10 lol its a 4 out 10 at best
8.5 is good for me. I did enjoy the film overall but it did have its faults
@BigPauly sounds like your trying to save face here tbh but fair enough
would not go if offered tickets for free
im going to wait for Disney+
Most un-interesting and un-likeable collection of characters in any Indy movie. Worst villains. Worst henchmen. Worst side kicks. Worst action set pieces. Worst CGI. Worst editing and directing. Worst version of Indiana Jones. Worst Indy movie ever made.
But on the bright side, it's another win for intersectional feminism and their plot to destroy everything that is good.
And you'd say that last line about Aliens if it came out today...
@@blujustin4175 The stupid cartoon aliens were far better CGI than this pile of digital bile.
