      @@msl361 Yeah any single person that has worked on any set knows everything has test runs and they know what ever is happening otherwise they wouldn't get high profile guests because it could be a PR nightmare if they just go in blind so all the sets are scripted and pre show tested.

Tarantino famously spent his entire childhood watching precisely those films, his mom would basically use it as day care: drop him off at the grindhouse theater all day. He even produced/co-directed a double feature homage to the genre in 2007.

      @@orlock20 it‘s Even worse in different country’s. In Germany sometimes the Wikipedia page‘s summary of the Titels is longer than the the rest of the stuff about the Movie. Even worse wenn actors got famous. Today it‘s better, but still today they remarkt old movies if someone got famous. Like „someone is a dead body in his first movie but got famous later the change the title, put him big on the front an make it look like he starred in it.😅

    Quentin is the perfect example of why you should never stifle your child's passion.
    If his parents had yelled at him to 'stop watching movies and get outside' we would never have got his incredible contributions to cinema.

      I don’t agree with this advice, make sure your children have a normal life. The amount of good things he will miss having a anormal life will surely surpass any good things that might come with it. Just imagine how many people had a friendless childhood only watching movies all day in their room and didn’t grow up to be world famous directors

Quentin needs a story.... even films without a story have some kind of story-driven focus (like the anthology works in Pulp Fiction). there wouldn't be much a story about him being a nerd in a movie rental place...

    I find myself always coming back to QT’s interviews. It’s very satisfying to see someone being so passionate about what he loves. He’s literally a walking encyclopaedia of movies. His knowledge of foreign movies is also truly impressive

    What we need is a competition, Scorsese vs Tarantino. Tarantino tends to know pop culture while Scorsese knows film history. Both clearly love cinema.

This kind of panic wouldn't have flown in Europe back in the Eighties. But nowadays, conspiracy whackos are on the rise, the lunatic fringe on the right has become much broader, and internet filter bubbles have become fast breeders for extremism of any kind; also the TV landscape is much more sensationalist and programmers don't mind at all dumbing down audiences and giving nutjobs serious screentime on equal footing next to genuine experts on a subject; so I wouldn't be surprised if we soon had similar dynamics in our society as well. Rational thinking seems to go out the window.

    QT's relationship with these cult classic films is the equivalent of how many people (admittedly myself included sometimes) can be terrible with names of previous acquaintances or old classmates but can tell you a lot things they remember about them, like their old nickname they used to go by, where they worked, who their brother is, or some obscure detail like they have six toes. Then hear their name and go "oh yeah that was you for sure." 🤣

    I love how tarantino keeps his rep intact with going in hard on every movie he missed.... this guy really is a living encyclopedia of film knowledge.
    there's a youtube guy, part of a crew... his name is Jay Bauman, part of the Red Letter Media crew. he has the exact same encyclopedic knowledge of both b-movie shlock, bad 80's slashers, 70's exploitation flicks, artsy 'David Lynch' style films and even the MCU & Star Wars (...just not Star Trek, inside joke). I'd love to one day watch him and QT just sit around and talk about movies. Jay has often talked about his appreciation for QT and his work... I just know it'll be a great video.

      When I was taking an intro to film class in college I had to grab a copy of Psycho unexpectedly for a last minute syllabus change. I called the local Blockbuster to ask if they had it in stock and it seemed like they were taking awhile to look it up. I clarified I needed the original, not the remake with Vince Vaughn - "you know, the one by Alfred Hitchcock?"
