Son Heung-Min Bio (2019): From a Late Starter to Asia’s Most Expensive Player
Heung-Min Son (or Son Heung-Min in South Korea) has slowly but surely established himself as one of the most dangerous attackers in the Premier League, and a top performer i the UEFA Champions League as well. Starting in Chuncheon, South Korea, this video follows his journey. From his father’s training drills, to Hamburg, Leverkusen and eventually to Tottenham. 孫興慜.

Cheap populism making a video about this overrated player. Also reverse racism. Overrating this player just because he's Asian.
You made a whole video about Son Heung Min and you neglect to mention even once how Son's commercial value has outstripped his talent, which has led him to being massively overrated?
The real underrated players of the PL are ones like Idrissa Gueye (now at PSG). He was tops in stats for his position in five leagues for five years.
But nobody gushes on about him as to how "underrated" he is. Nobody makes a video talking about his bio. It's only about this average player Son Heung Min.
Name one thing Son is outstanding in, Adrian ... bet you can't.
IE Son is a great player and “reverse racism” would mean no racism genius...🤦🏾♂️
@@nightfall3332 You don't seem to understand the concept of "reverse racism". Son is not a "great player". He's average. All his stats are average or below average.
IE I’m a die hard Arsenal fan and I still have the brains to admit that Son is good.
Glad to see son in fifa rather than call of duty
Hahahahaha
XDD this comment is WAYY underrated
😀😆
Lol 😂
🤣
Little known fact, in the season that Son won the Asian Games with Korea, he played 87 matches for club and country. The most games played by any player in Europe that year.
Not that little.
That's why everyone says he's the hardest working footballer on the Spurs.
Still making EDM?
You have to realize that Son's dad didn't want Son to join a team at a younger age in Korea because all under-aged coaches and managers in Korea solely focuses on winning. This kind of football culture restricts many of the kids to enjoy football itself and be afraid of making new creative plays. When you're young, winning is important, but you would really rather focus on basics and growth. Son's dad knew this, so made an "unorthodox" choice.
It wasn't just for the sake of being unorthodox, but there was a reason behind it.
Excellent clip, but just wanted to add this because I felt like you focused on Son's dad's training to be a little odd and different, but was rather trying to make the best choice from the given situation.
So his dad basically made him focus on fundamentals and technique before playing a game. Nothing wrong with that I think
nobody said it was wrong, but just wanted to say that his dad didn't make Son do those stuff out of nowhere or without plan
@@dooda2134 I think there are different learning paths to get to the same point. Son may have been just as great had he started gameplay earlier. His dad still could have trained him while he was playing games. I think playing the game gives valuable touches on the ball. Obviously both approaches can work since you have many great players who start playing the game at very early ages like Messi, and on the other hand you can just do fundamentals like Son and still become great.
@@nofurtherwest3474 True. Team training is as much as valuable during young age, but that wasn't my point. My point was (and i think you are disregarding this fact that) Korea's football is not it's strongest suit for a reason. Wrong coaching and wrong youth focus is the reason why Son's dad didn't want Son to be in a team until Hamburg.
@@dooda2134 I'm not disputing anything. I'm just rambling, sorry man.
I think the USA has the same problem. We don't develop good technique in our youth and we don't let them develop as individuals and soccer is also too managed and expensive here.
Thank God he won that gold medal for his country.
why?
Christian C because or else he would have been to military for 1 year and 10 months
Christian C South Korean men are required to serve in the military for about 2 years unless you win a top award in music or sports, or a Nobel prize😭
I just witnessed one of the greatest ever goals from Son, never seen a solo goal this good.
Same
Not just for Son, but in the history of the PL.
i’m a legit arsenal fan, and i loved that goal as a football fan. Viva south korea
Son is really good but ever heard of messi? Lol
Hope you saw the recent hola. Another season contender
Also his father wasn't gonna force football onto him cause he knows how difficult the life of an athlete is but Son was so persistent in becoming a professional that his father went all in on him
I like how u think?
if son was still in hamburg; lets be honest, bayern munich would've snatched.
Fax
Fucks
without a doubt.
As if other teams don't
@@soubhikdutta9642 not at the same rate as bayern
So underrated
My favorite soccer player, What a player and a person! Sonnnnnnn! Respect him❤
Bitch it's Football
He was so determined to stay in epl he won the Asian cup to get exempted from Korea army service, just like that. That will always be legendary for me. Deserved every bit of success with that determined winning mentality.
I really didn't expect much from "yet another player bio video", but this really surprised me. I am really impressed and inspired by Son Heung-Min story so far. Asian players are awesome, when given a proper chance.
Thanks fro the video Adrien, I wish you and Son, good fortune ahead.
Nguyen Quang Hai is astoundingly good and even more underrated. You should watch him. There's a reason why he is the only Asian player this year to be linked with clubs like Man City and Barcelona. Desolately, he is unnoticed because Hanoi FC don't want to sell him and rejected offers from big clubs around the world, and even in different continents.
I wish you, charles, good fortune. Really polite comment. RUclips is missing these nowadays
Love to see him play, but not against us :D
Dortmund is kind of his favourite opponent. With every Team he played us he won at least once scoring at least one goal :D
For REAL 😤😤😞, Every time he played against the team I support DORTMUND he is like our club nightmare, he has to score or make an assist every time we play
Every club has that one player that is a nightmare to play against.
In korea we call son as beekeeper when he have game with dortmund... because he always scores the goal when the opponent wear yellow uniform which is dortmund...
So glad to see our country's player introduction in foreign country channel! Thanks dude
This is a great video. An inspiration to many parents and kids who see Son not only as a good player but as a role model. It is important to note that second generations at any activity tend to thrive: First generations learn, fail, succeed and understand the context, setting their next in kin to success. Thank Son for being an example in how hard work pays off.
one of the biggest talents playing at hamburg in those days he was here...so sad when we were not able to hold him thanks to lack of success and money...but he wouldn't be who h is today if he had stayed...he is an amazing guy and even tho he made his move to leverkusen who have become kind of a nemesis for HSV in terms of buying out our talent, i am really happy for every step he took in his career this far.
This dude is utterly amazing and an inspiration to many
On top of that he's a really great person i'm a liverpool fan and i i admire Son, he's so respectful and professional, a good example for youngs footballers out there.
He's the pride of Asia
That German scout was actually tasked with finding talent in China but instead found Son.
Insert all asians look the same joke here
@HeyNowLookHere what? Out of 200 billion people,he couldn't find a player? That's a shame.
@@jaekoh670 yeah because corruption
China has more of a Basketball prospect compared to football. Gonna take another decade or two.
He went to China but ended up with Chow Mein noodles instead!!
Son is beloved by all over Asia
Perfect successor to Park-Ji Sung
Subham Choudhury yeah I remember park at Man U!! He paced the way!! For Asian players like son!!
No way near...
Sonny is my favourite player!!!
My favourite footballer.
Sonny and kevin de bruyne are my fav players
One of the most underrated player in the PL
You mean the most overrated. Never scored more than 20 goals in a season. Average goals and assists. Mr Average as a matter of fact.
IE Exhibit A
@Suraj Shits On The Street ISIS? The entity created and funded by US bankers and Israel? LOL
@Suraj Shits On The Street Son will never score more than 20 goals a season.
@Suraj Shits On The Street And come back when Son wins something more than the Audi Cup.
Please do a Video on the status of Cyprus football. Their National Team is on the ground and the clubs mainly use foreign players to reach their goals.
National teams using naturalized citizens/players with dual citizenship who weren't born in the country they represent isn't unique.
Every single Club in every league use foreign players to obtain goals... what the fuck you on?
l'acxika but the guy said that clubs are using people from different nations to reach goals ....
Such an amazing and humble player, sending lots of love. 👌👌👌💚🧡💙
I think you’d like to do ederson since he played for Benfica and you haven’t done any goalkeepers yet
You’ve been avoiding defenders my dude.
I’d love to a video on Roman Burki but that probably because I’m a Dortmund fan
Your profile picture tho
Ali TEM it’s completely normal
bruh you gay
Whose here after his God tier goal
Love his game 🇰🇷
excellent video, my dad is from korea so son is my favorite player
Very good underrated player, from an Arsenal fan.
He is most definitely not underrated, especially in his home country where he is worshipped.
Coming from a Gooner myself, he is not underrated.
They don’t worship him. Some people criticise him....
Thanks Jakarta and Palembang Asian games
Wow, this is a great video. High quality!
Wow. 😱 Father-Heung-Min really made sure Son put in the work but, I must say, it worked. Son's a fabulous player. Genuinely world-class. I really wish we had at Arsenal instead of being at enemies. 😅 He's Spurs's best player, for me. When they're playing around Son they look a far better team. The sooner Pochettino realised, the better for Spurs, but conversely, the longer he doesn't the better for us 😉 The mama needs all the help she can get clinching top 4
That won't be happening..... Trust me.
You're barely anywhere near the top 4 team levels and We're playing in champions League finals...... Dream on.
@@fletchy88 I disagree. As it stands. we're 4th in the table behind Leicester, Man City and Liverpool. Everyone else barring the top 2 is inconsistent as heck, including us. This season is pretty open I say
Didn't know that bit about him being able to get military exemption. well researched and presented video!
THANK GOD for sonny
My favourite player for years 🇰🇷❤️
Thank you
Sonny Boy! 😀
Great work!! Thanks
Son always shine 🙂
insane dedication. so inspirational
3:06 Park Ji Sung is that you?
this is very good summary... small correction though asian cup in Australia and word cup were not providing any exemption for military duty, only asian game gold medal, olympics gold/silver/bronze. it's because that exemption opportunity should be provided equally to other sport athletics and world-cup and asian cup is only for soccer ... 2002 was one of the exception we had
He continues to get better. Have to believe Mourinho will appreciate him.
선 흥민 사랑해요
One wrong information in the video, I'm a Korean and winning the Asian Cup does not allow players to get excluded from the military service. So even if Son won against Australia in the Asian Cup finals back in 2015, his military service issue would still have been a problem. Only winning medals in the Olympics and the Asian Games allows Korean athletes to not go to the military, which he did by winning the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia.
isnt it also only gold medals from now on
Very informative! Had no idea. Thanks!
My pleasure Karl!
This guy is really good. Thanks for the vid
enjoyed as usual, keep up the good work. Shout out from Zimbabwe.
Cheers Tagarika!
Hard work. This kid proves everything comes from hard work. If you haven't achieved your dreams, you haven't worked hard enough
He has lived quite a life and is still unmarried too 😆.Proud Spurs fan .Would also love a video on bury and Bolton situation.
Yay! Thank you for another video Adrian.Realy most of the time i watch all the videos you uploaded i most like these and roots of the rivalry.
The boy is amazing. Absolutely love his passion for the sport. Only two players on Tottenham shows this. Himself and Lucas Moura. Both in my opinion are better players than Harry Kane.
Lucas better than Kane is laughable!!!
@Turtle Cat that's silliness
Very true
Wow, this is good! Very interesting story. A father knows what's best for his Son. No wonder he's that good!
Another banger as per usual keep it up ❤
Imagine if son was at Liverpool. He's a klopp type player I hope lfc go in for him and somehow do it.
I do love to see him with Liverpool, but he's a first 11 player... Firmino cemented his position, and I don't see Mane and Salah be replace by Son unless they're injured
I am a fan of sonny and spurs. But respect liverpool's style immensely. Their suffocating defense, fast transition, moving and creating space.and more. Oh. Get to the main point, you guys are good and if you get sonny, you will be almost unbeatable!!!!!!!
Damn they really sack Pochettino after he worked so hard to build that team
Hot Take - Most underrated player in the prem.
손 흥 민
Damn, that was pretty interesting!
Son💙
great video man
His dad practiced intense training with son even when Sonny was tired and conplaining. Dad focused hard on basics and fundamentals. This is a reason why Son is so good wIth left and right foot. Not many know his fathers dedication.
I think about that sometimes...
Dude have you heard of Percy Tau.The south african star who currently plays for club brugge on loan from brighton. He was player of the season in the belgian 2nd division.you should a docu bout him.
Nguyen Quang Hai is just as good and even more underrated. You should watch him. There's a reason why he is the only Asian player this year to be linked with clubs like Man City and Barcelona. Desolately, he is unnoticed because Hanoi FC don't want to sell him and rejected offers from big clubs around the world, and even in different continents.
thanks for the wonderful video
He actually still had to perform his military service, albeit a much shortened version of 3 wks for those exempted. Out of this cohort, he graduated top among his batch, and achieving also perfect scores in all his shootings (bullets that is).
HM SON 💎 Of Asian ❤❤
2:24 is the key sentense, his father didnt allow son to play any matches until puberty was finshed. if you played at young age and you might brag and get conceded, it could go into your head. but if you dont know how good are, theb you keep trying and developing to a highest position, then you rule
That is quite the shirt, Adrian!
That shirt tho 🔥
Yes❤
Love your parent listen to them. You see what happen when son listen to his father. 👌🏼
Why y’all going on about his shirt ? 😂
Looks nice tbh
I love you
cant wait to someone make a movie about him
God, what a total fucking legend.
*best Asian player of all time
i think you forgot about Park Ji Sung
I gave him a middle name on Wiki, Ed. Must have been a couple of years before he went to Tottenham. Heung-Min Ed Son.
Both my uncles played w sonnys dad that 🌎 cup changed many if not all Korean player lives..crazy when the president changed the rules kinda becuz the Asian cup wasn’t on the list till recently
잘봤습니다.👍
What the fuck else does he have to do for korea to be exempt from military service. Hes the best athlete in their entire history with his accomplishments
8:54 The AFC Asian Cup does NOT grant military exemption. South Koreans must medal at the Olympic Games-a feat South Korea achieved in the 2012 edition, but without Son due to club conflict-or win the Asian Games to be considered for exemption.
The first player I would pick if I could for LFC, Jürgen may not agree but anyway..:)
wait...I don't get it. I thought FIFA has strict rules regarding transfers of U-18 players. Son didn't satisfy any of the 3 conditions required for him to move to Germany...or am I missing something here.
Kynigos 96 I think that’s only for transfers. He came as a trial
@@DongDeee Takefusa Kubo also entered Barça through a trial...and Barca got penalised for it..
@@baryonyx9642 who knows they probably did something sneaky behind closed doors

can you do a player bio on Ivan Perisic?
funky shirt, Adrien!
Luckily Son won Asian Cup
Spurs have an amazing stadium
I don't know the system in South Korea but why they are putting him in extreme pressure . He is putting every bit of efforts to represent his nation . He already doing what a man has to do (represent his/her country) . Can't South Korean government atleast exempt him to join military . I mean why there is such kind of law that everyone has to join!! Isn't this is the violation of human rights?!!!
Indranil sarkar he already exempt from military services
No one should get special treatment. Soccer is a sport. There are plenty of more important jobs that should exempt one from joining the military, like being a doctor or teacher.
You do know what korea is still in state of war right?
Violation of human rights 😂 😂 😂 that’s pretty funny
One note: Winning the Asian cup doesn't guarantee Sonny can drop his military service. The Olympics, World Cup, and Asian games are the only way that the South Korean athletes can drop their national duties. Hope to see this help you better understand!
South Korea's 2nd best player in history
whos first
ngl this sounds like a cool anime plot
Then to look towards FIFA who can't even give son a potential of 89 or 90 like what is that about.
proud indonesian
