They litterally sound like they have just gone out and picked a new sound from their garden every song they create. 'Beyond the wheel' has is another great example of cornells range.
That first Audioslave album was a masterpiece. But vocally the Audioslave era was the weakest of Cornell’s career. That was when he was still smoking and boozing and when he was getting old enough that it mattered
This....the album is by far the most under rated of the grunge era. The poetry, the vocals, the noisy guitars and fucked up tunings. Mind Riot guitars are literally tuned where all strings are the E note. I whole-heartedly agree. all killer and no filler. I literally can't pick a favorite track. I like their earlier efforts, Louder Than Love as well as Superunknown and all of Chris's solo stuff. However, Badmotorfinger is the high watermark. Also check out Temple of the Dog (its my 2nd favorite Cornell album) and his cameo on the Alice in Chains tune Right Turn (on the SAP EP). The outro on that song has Layne, Chris, Lanegan (Screaming Trees) and Mark Arm (Mud Honey) and it gives me the chills every time I hear it.
Dude yes this is all Chris singing and this song is huge to fans! And yes best singer of all time! Agree with the other’s recommendations! Beyond the wheel up next❤😊
Great reaction as always. I gotta agree that 'Beyond the Wheel' is another to show off Chris' voice. If you wanna hear how diverse they are, try '4th of July'. Pure SLUDGE, in an awesome way.
This was the Chris Cornell we all knew in the early days from Temple of the Dog and Soundgarden. Nothing but grunge, yet a few tempters of him singing ballads. Soundgarden fans knew what was coming but it took a change in genres to reveal his brilliance to a wider audience, and that happened when Chris first went solo. Of course, those of us who loved his grunge voice first, we get the best of both worlds...it is all upside for us.
It's well known if you've been part of the "grunge era". A masterpiece. AND it was the last song Chris Cornell performed live with Soundgarden before the tragedy. RIP
Chester was my fav for a while but Chris Is different! Soundgarden is nothing but bangers!!!! They got a lot of hidden gems. Chris was a vocal freak best ever imo!!! I wanna give you a song recommendation but there are bout 20 on my mind I wanna write how bout Black Rain.
Word! Like.. Nothing to Say, or Uncovered, or.. like you said, about 20 more, Cornell was a beast! Then you have the other range of the spectrum with him, like Sunshower or When I'm Down, or Preaching the End of the World.. Man was dope
Old guy here. I have adored this son since the 90’s and always ask the same question… why is this not on every damn station and reaction channel! You are the best reactor dude.. you don’t hold back. You get it. Thank you for this!
Besides the other (great) recommendations from your other Soundgarden fanatics, to dive deeper in Chris’s incredible talent, I recommend listening to The Day I Tried To Live, Limo Wreck, Never The Machine Forever and New Damage 😎🤘
Why, that's quite a reaction there! One of the best reaction to Slaves I've seen so far! And to think we could have another Soundgarden member capable of doing Cornell-like magic with his voice, lol, that's really creative! No, it is just Chris, though it sounded like some 4 Chrises here! Oh, I miss my Mighty Soundgarden.... Peace and long life.
Go listen to “Beyond the Wheel.” Then “Loud Love.” You’ll think it’s all guitar at the beginning of “Loud Love” but it’s not. It’s actually Chris then the guitar comes in.
This is all Chris showing us just how ridiculous his voice was. Saw him perform this live several times in the early 90s…unbelievable. RIP Chris, you are missed but not forgotten.
o_O Cornell absolutely *is* in the conversation for best rock voice!! ;) Nobody else gives me goosebumps like Cornell. The quality songwriting on top of the vocals makes him extra special imho. Kim Thayil doesn't get enough appreciation for the truly unique sh!t he comes up with on guitar btw - he may be a big Zep fan, but what he creates himself is beyond the high-gain blues-based thing of those big bands. It's not for everyone, but it's undeniably unique & I love him for it! Always nice to see someone appreciate some 'Garden, & especially the Badmotorfinger album. Cheers. :)
The dude that produced Superunknown said he walked from the desk into the airlock between the recording space and the glass on the door was bulging out because Chris was changing the air pressure in the room! 😂
Hey bro!! Its Chris voice all of it, just layered yes, no doubt Chris was like a big brother to Chester, and well i think that if Chris didnt take hes own life, maybe Chester would not have to?? just maybe thats the case, Chris gone surely did impact Chester. Chris, best vocal, well its hard to say really, surely he got one hell of a voice, and if you liked this one, the track right before this on Badmotorfinger album, called Outshined might be one to check out to.. I totally agree that this is a better song than Spoonman, Spoonman is fun with the spoonguy and stuff playing, black hole sun got great sound, and is a very good song, somehow it just dosent represent Soungarden still, but this is just better.. Outshined is a better song to.. Searching with my good eye closed from this album to, is a song that also will make you wonder, whats that shit..lol
Something I've noticed over the years. Chris Cornell really loved writing lyrics where he would explain one thing, then compare it to, or do the opposite. Like in this song, Everything I've held is what I've freed, Buying lies and stealing jokes, there's many examples in just this song. In fell on black days, he says, " What you wanted to be yours, has made it mine""Don't you lock up something, that you wanted to see fly. I would even consider pretty noose as being a play off of taking something like a noose which has negative connotations, and applying a positive adjective to it. It really is a grand thematic to Soundgarden as a whole. I say this is my favorite band confidently.
It's all Chris Cornell. Have fun going through his massive catalog with Soundgarden, Audioslave, Temple of the Dog and his solo work. Not to mention his countless other collabs, covers and even a James Bond intro song.
Well, his voice certainly isn’t. I tend to think of it as superhuman. Soundgarden can be crushingly heavy. Chris can just unleash his screams, and this is one of his most explosive vocal performances.
Proud to say that my BFF and I had a metal show in N Texas (Dallas) when this came out, and we were first to play songs from this LP. Slaves and Bulldozers was first. ☮️❤️
I love Chris!! I was blown away with his cover of Billie Jean by Michael Jackson. He definitely made it his own. Give it a listen and see what you think 😊
Chris R.I.P was the GOAT🤘🏻🔥🖤🔥🤘🏻was he a screamer!?😂 hell yeah! That was his true color!!! It's almost impossible to cover his range🙌 it was no other member of the band, Try "Birth Ritual". Awesome Reaction 👏
Spoonmam is about a man who plays spoons. He’s in the video. Also catch the scream in the beginning of “Loud Love” and that’s him doing the high parts in Temple of the dogs “Hunger Strike”. Also same album TOTD’s “call me dog” he let’s loose as well. Catch “4th of July” it’s about a bad acid trip that he experienced. “Overfloater” it’s about over doing it and your Overfloating. Then there’s “Little Joe” It’s rumored that Joe is Jimmy Hindrix Joe in “👋 Joe”. I suggest them all
I made it to that tour. Honestly I feel like that is one of my most treasured concerts that I've ever been to because yes, it was not long after that he was gone. And I never saw it coming because he performed so magnificently that night. Never had a clue that such a dark turn would be around the corner.
@@PeteOliva oh no one saw it coming. Dude had his shit together as far as everyone was concerned. Put together well (like not sloppy) looked great, family man and so on. So it was definitely left field
@@PeteOliva kinda in a way the same thing happened when Layne Staley passed. So i I missed seeing him too. And him & Cornell are 2 of my faves along with Tool
Saw that show front row in Chicago. Chris played part of the solo from Searching with my Good Eye Closed 2 feet from our face. Have some incredible photos from that show.
@@georgeveenstra6894 that’s super cool. That will always be top 2 biggest music regrets of mine. I’ve seen NIN now at Red Rocks but obviously no more chances to hear/see Chris. But that & passing up Pink Floyd when I was 15 or 16 at Clemson stadium 🤦🏼♂️ I had to be out of my mind
It sucks that Chester killed himself in the wake of Chris, he adored him to the point of suicide, he should have stuck around, the man had more to offer, done a decent job with Stone Temple Pilots, truly sad all three men are gone RIP Chris, Scott and Chester😢
Soundgarden used to be heavy. The really popular s*** on MTV. It's decent but honestly in my opinion never compared to the early albums. Chris is definitely the one screaming but in the studio he just layered his vocals.
Heretic. It's the very first SG song I ever heard, and my friend Billy who made me the tape didn't remember the name of the band. I figured it out when Rusty Cage was released. Heretic is on the Deep Six compliation if memory serves me. Check it out!
They litterally sound like they have just gone out and picked a new sound from their garden every song they create. 'Beyond the wheel' has is another great example of cornells range.
Beyond The Wheel (song 8 of 8 in Germany) is incredible!!!
Beyond the wheel is one of my faves!!
That's Chris. No autotune, either.
Chris Cornell is the most underrated singer and songwriter in musically history
This very well known among Soundgarden fans 😂
A lot of people are saying Beyond the Wheel…I agree 😂
Nope, it's all him 😏
Chris is indeed the best EVER!!!! Nobody is as versatile. Dig deep into his work. He is the GOAT!
Hey man. If you wanna hear Chris Cornell scream, check Audioslave - Cochise. That's a true masterpiece
That first Audioslave album was a masterpiece.
But vocally the Audioslave era was the weakest of Cornell’s career. That was when he was still smoking and boozing and when he was getting old enough that it mattered
It's Badmotorfinger. Imo, this is the only album by Soundgarden without a single miss. They knocked it out with this one.
This....the album is by far the most under rated of the grunge era. The poetry, the vocals, the noisy guitars and fucked up tunings. Black Rain as well is another slept on song in regards to his range.
@@prep0763 Absolutely
Call Me A Dog - Temple of the Dog is an incredible studio vocal.
3:03 bro went through so many emotions 😭😭😭 that’s Chris Cornell for you tho
The ending of the song sounds like a freakin train slowing down into the station 🚉 serious power there!!

Thanks for reacting to this one. I think it is one of his best vocal performances, recorded when his voice was Godlike.

I turned A LOT of people onto Soundgarden with this song back in 92….i was like “if you like old Sabbath check this out” 🖤🤤
Beyond The Wheel is worth a listen... Nobody can belt it out like Chris Cornell. Listen to it and tell me I'm wrong. You can't! Flawless vocals!!!

Not quite. He said he could hear Chris through the door, and when he touched the glass, he could feel the vibrations.

Totally one of their top five songs.
This song and Outshined are the 2 songs I'd recommend for anyone starting a Soundgarden journey.

Yeah...tjis song wasn't considered radio friendly. I bought this album when it first came out. Us SG fans know it quite well.
This is Epic Soundgarden gotta check out "Screaming Life Fopp" from the early days of Soundgarden its freaking Awesome
you gotta listen to cochise by audioslave😵💫 youll love chris' scream
Chris Is The Man.
Watch this performance live..chris has an insane vocal scream

If you want full on metal by Chris Cornell... listen to Beyond the Wheel
🤣 yes he screams..and growls..
This whole album is full of powerful screams
It's definitely Chris Cornell's voice, and yes, it's layered in a few parts.
Yes for sure best sound and tone for sure
Bro, if you want to hear him really scream, check out Audioslave, Cochise. He Damn near sounds like a demon at one point.
That is why you buy the record and you don't just listen to the singles. For any band!
Chris and Lane Staley have the best vocal tones in history!
The “scream” is 100% Chris. He did a similar harsh scream in Cochise
Chris was a vocal god
3:40. Well, think with your 211 mind! Open up!🍄🧐🌊
Go Bengals!!! Fuck yeah!!!
It's all Chris singing. Cheers bro, great reaction. This whole album is fire 🔥
Aside from Layne & Maynard no other singers from that era who make that sort of music can touch Cornell,I mean just listen to that shit!! 😳🤯🤤🖤🤘🏻

Spoonman, Black Hole Sun, Outshined, Fell on Black Days are all way bigger...but this is by far their best IMO

“Overfloater” it’s about over doing it and your Overfloating.
Then there’s “Little Joe”
It’s rumored that Joe is Jimmy Hindrix Joe in “👋 Joe”.
I suggest them all
Clearly, obviously
I was offended at the suggestion
Their best album
211. It’s what I mean! 😆🌿🌸
Checkout shadow on the sun and cochise he has dark screams in those songs
I’m still sick that I missed seeing him live. Had my chance & tickets w/ NIN but wasn’t able to go last minute. And he was gone soon after
