Finally! Chris Cornell's vocal ability on this track is jaw dropping..still listening to this song some 25+ yrs later after its release. Killer tune!
Agreed! Just the raw power he had hitting those notes. There are singers out there that can hit the notes, but none with the power that Chris had
Shadow on the Sun is a better display, his smooth vocals on that are better.
Soundtrack to my life.... provided by a Mr c Cornell.🤘😎
Rest in peace brother 🙏
31 years later...sorry im old too
Chris hits those notes it melts your face and opens. A portal to another dimension
Layne Staley and Chris Cornell are 2 of my fave vocalists ever.
Badmotorfinger is also one of the great Rock albums ever, IMHO.
Hell yes.
FUCKIN A
Bad motor finger Soundgarden dirt Alice in chains the 2 best grunge albums ever and 2 of the best rock albums of all time
Yess the best to ever do it 😫🥰to here them play live just once 😭 I wish
@@kyliamckoy1317 Glad I caught both of them live.
Chris Cornell was just a total vocal force of nature.
Lex: "I believe Chris Cornell might have the best voice of all-time...I haven't listened to that much music though."
I started listening to Soundgarden around 1992. I'm 45 years old, been a music lover since I was a small child, listen to all kinds of genres, and I believe Chris Cornell is one of the greatest of all-time if not THE greatest.
He was amazing, but one vocalist who gives him a run for the money is Mike Patton. His range is Ludacris.
During the Grunge era in terms of range and power Layne Staley was on a par with Chris Cornell . That's under Heroin addict destroyed his voice and even then Layne was better than many others
My man 👊
Listen to more sweetie
@@nickyleighton3766 I cant decide who had a better Seattle voice, Robert Plant just entered the chat.
Oh hell yes this is one of their most underrated songs. It really shows Chris full capacity and what a monstrous voice he had, he absolutely went mental in this one.
I understand all the talk about that voice, but what about the incredible drumming!
@Christian Adams
And those guitar rifts. This entire song is next level. Top 5 Soundgarden song. Lyrics. Chris' voice. Drumming. Rifts. The "Feel". It is so awesome
Yes, Chris Cornell has the greatest voice in rock history.
My father died when I was a teenager. Cornell’s music helped me through the next several years of my life, it me from spiraling more than I did.
Until Cornell died, I had never understood what people were talking about when they had an emotional reaction to the death of a celebrity. I couldn’t listen to anything of his for about a year without tearing up.
I'm still tearing up when I'm not careful. I was shocked by some prior celebrity deaths, but none felt as painful as Chris passing. And apart from that, I'm in my 50s, I've listened to literally all kinds of rock music and hundreds of singers, and Chris was the best, no question. There were some who were more *important* for the history of rock singing, like Ozzy, Freddy Mercury, and David Bowie (to name just three), but only Chris' voice could touch me like it did. He was the GOAT. There are three other singers that can make me as emotional, though, all of them are women: Björk, Ninet Tayeb, and Suzuka Nakamoto. Brad & Lex will get to them in due time, I'm patient.
Finally y'all got to hear the true power of Chris Cornell's voice, now Beyond the Wheel by Soundgarden for even more
This.
They are gonna be blown away again .
Excellent choice. Also don't forget Cold B. And New Damage.
Yup.
Yes but the live version from Superunknown deluxe. WAAY more powerful and Cornells vocal peak.
This is the song that hooked me into being a Soundgarden fan. The technical aspect of the vocals, and the playing where just out there for a 20 year old that just started playing bass. I was floored.
Soundgarden song that hooked me was "Jesus Christ Pose "
@Twisted same
I agree with Lex
The incredible vocals, intense and so much range. The guitars are a mix of all kinds of riffs ,all over the map. An outstanding band of the Seattle grunge era. My favorite along with Alice in Chains. Those two bands drew me to that music and made a slightly older(30 at the time) hard rock and metal fan very happy indeed.
I agree, Chris is top 5 for me, his vocal tone is just super human, it makes me laugh out loud on those high notes, its so good!!!
Him and Robert plant
Say Hello 2 Heaven....Hands All Over... the range is mind-blowing
@@lodey Absolutely, the man was just incredable!
@@ojs94bronco43 Definitely, two of the best to ever do it!
I like Sebastian Bach's Vocals as well. Bach & Cornell, two of the greatest 90’s Rock singers
Lex, now you have to hear “Beyond the Wheel” by Soundgarden. You will freak!
Agreed. His stunning range and high notes on that tune are unbelievable.
It has to be a live version though, the album version doesn't do it justice
And Birth Ritual
*"Beyond the Wheel"* , *"Nothing to Say"* and *"Hands All Over"* , are my three favorite songs by Soundgarden.
Live version, good stuff
Cornell at the absolute peak of his prodigious power.
This could be the greatest Soundgarden song ever
So fu#king dirty... it's one of my favorites. My first tattoo was the badmotorfinger sw blade.
We need more Soundgarden on this channel! 🔥 No one sings like you anymore…
This one always feels like atomic powered Black Sabbath to me, and Chris Cornell's voice travels into new dimensions - an amaaaaazing track! I miss Chris sooo damn much 😢 Gone far too freakin' soon. So glad we have epics like this to listen to, but still wish he was still here with us living his best life and making new music ❤👍
this melts sabbath into a tiny puddle of goo
I think “Birth Ritual” by Soundgarden is probably the most unreal Chris Cornell vocal performance. Ridiculously high pitched and LOUD.
That's a good one on the Singles soundtrack
The way they took a slow rocking, like a very old wooden rocking chair. Threw in sounds from a machine shop, and a lyric rhythm that sways like a nursery rhyme. It’s just cool.
When he drops to the low and smooth tone after the drum fill before exploding back to the intense vocals is an example of what made Chris Cornell great!
I agree with Lex, Chris voice was technically very incredible, very expressive, always in tune, a great range, incredible control, incredible screams without falsetto, but also a beautiful voice when singing melodies
The guy was incredible. He could sing anything.
Chris was the total package, Vocals + Guitar. RIP MAN 🙏
Don't forget he started out as the drummer of Soundgarden!
This song is amazing and a total showcase for Chris’s vocal abilities no doubt, one of the greatest ever. Equally as great was his ability to connect with the listener with every word he sang. #LoudLove
Exactly he made you feel every word
And even Axl Rose, to his credit, has said as much -- I think it was a 1990 RS interview where Rose (who had recently won top male vocalist award or poll) said if he could sing like Chris Cornell, he'd "have it made".
This album is absolute solid fk'n gold. Literally not a bad song on the album. I still listen to it all the time, and it's one of those rare albums that I typically listen to all the way through without skipping.
Absolutely
Is there a bad Soundgarden song? Some are an acquired taste, but they are still interesting to listen to.
OF ALL TIME!!!
What makes Chris stand out is that he can do songs like this, then do something completely different like, "Like A Stone". He can do both, equally well, while emotion oozes from his soul.
Lex on point as usual! Chris Cornell one of the greatest voices ever.
This is actually my most favorite song in the world, EXCEPT only the live version. This studio version is fine, but the live versions of this song are different and experiencing them live is even better. This is actually the last song they played in concert shortly before Chris's death. RIP dear Chris. They often played it as an encore song. It makes me feel like I'm a dragon bounding from one mountain top to another. Powerful, beasty and free... lol. One of the first songs I heard of Soundgarden's was in 1989, "Loud Love," and the intro starts with some screech-y guitar that turns into Chris's voice. It blew my mind. I was a diehard fan since. Matt Cameron's drumming also changed my world. Some people keep time on drums, Matt makes music and paints pictures.
Chris Cornell, Rob Halford, Jim Morrison, Ronnie James Dio, Sebastian Bach, Bruce Dickinson, Jeff Tate, Robert Planet, Ann Wilson, Eddie Vedder, James LaBrie & Ozzy = all voices I can never get enough of🤘🏻💜🤘🏻
I love how she’s just loving it! And he’s thinking it out like “this is what I think every day of my life” lol
A great song for your reaction by Chris Cornell: "Seasons" its off of the soundtrack from the movie 'Singles'. His voice is beautiful here, I think you'll love it.
My favorite all time Soundgarden song. Has everything that Chris Cornell was and stood for. What a jam. Glad Lex appreciated it. Love the channel guys!
I agree, Chris Cornell has the best voice in rock.
He's for sure in the top 10 👍 But there are some others that might also deserve that throne:
Paul Rogers (ruclips.net/video/q13EUUsIsFE/видео.html)
Jimmy Barnes (ruclips.net/video/I1y9sXEfO34/видео.html)
John Fogerty( ruclips.net/video/ec0XKhAHR5I/видео.html)
Ian Gillan (ruclips.net/video/uEwVz6P7lZg/видео.html)
...
There's also quite a few great ones besides the ones that I have listed here 😅
My top 10 singers
1. Kyo- Dir En Grey
2. Kurt Cobain- Nirvana
3. John Lennon- The Beatles
4. Ronnie radke - Falling in reverse
5. Chester Bennington- Linkin park
6. Glenn Danzig- Misfits
7. bradley nowell- sublime
8. tatiana shmailyuk- jinjer
9. dolores o'riordan- The cranberries
10. Jim Morrison- The doors
Pleased to see you guys vibing with Slaves & Bulldozers, one of my all time favorite tracks by Soundgarden and also one of the best gems on the Badmotorfinger album lol great reaction and song choice as well, hats off to you two. This song is a pure banger and it perfectly demonstrates how far Chris's vocal range is able to reach. Insanity at its best, love this song and its meaning. ❤
This is, in my opinion, pinnacle Soundgarden. The vocals, the weight of the guitars, the groove of the rhythm section, the angst. It's just a perfect moment from one of my favorite bands.
I grew up on late 60's -70's music. Lots of amazing vocalists during that era and since then. But I'd have to put Chris Cornell in the top five as far as sheer power, range and control. Never heard anything like him. And he seems to do it so effortlessly.
I agree Lex... Chris's had the perfect hard rock voice... You should check out Soundgarden "Hands all over"...
Yes! Baby, Chris!!! 😍
Chris’s best vocal performance for me
One of my favourites. Seen him with Soundgarden and Audioslave. One of THE BEST VOCALISTS EVER. ANYWHERE. ANYTIME. MAN ROCKED !! Cried when he died.
Chris Cornell has one of the greatest voices in music history for sure
Wow did not expect to see this! This is one of my all time favorite SG songs. They performed this live at the 1992 Lollapalooza in the Detroit area, and incorporated part of Ted Nugent's song Stranglehold which was fantastic how they did it and that they did it as an homage to being in the Detroit area. Thanks for this! ~Be Blessed
This song is the perfect example of the vocal sonic blast capabilities of one Mr. Chris Cornell. Just otherworldly!
Soundgarden - like suicide, searching with my good eye closed, room a thousand years wide, loud love, hands all over, fell on back days, 4th of July.....just to name a few of my favorites 🤘🙂🤘
Chris's either a capella, acoustic or heavy as hell had a beast of a range. I was a goth girl studying opera when I first heard "Jesus Christ Pose" by Soundgarden; obsessed ever since. Maynard, Lane and Chris..no one can touch them vocally!
First song I ever heard Soundgarden play live was "Hands all over" amazing song when you see it performed live!
My introduction as well. Still one of my Top 10 Soundgarden songs for sure.
Saw them at Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, opening for Danzig
My favorite song of theirs. Song Rocks!!
This is a good song to describe what it feels like when you snap!
Love Soundgarden. This song in particular is probably the pinnacle of Chris' vocal performances in my opinion.
Love Soundgarden. My daughter use to get upset with me for playing them and S.T.P. All the time. I'm almost 65 and 💘 a good wailing , emotional voice!!
Cornell definitely has one of the greatest Rock voices ever. Even people who are not fans of his bands recognize that. He also has the widest octave range of any I believe, as well as the best control of that range.
Ahhh…memories of seeing them live, down front in the pit. Some of the best times I’ve had going to concerts.
THE voice of that era for me - Nobody could belt out the tunes like Chris - sometimes he was a bit off live after a tour of screaming - so you didnt always get the best from him but damn - he was awesome
A lot of people out there agree with Lex on Chris Cornell's voice. Such a good album. "the devil says . . . "
Chris Cornell is THE Grunge God, no doubt! Rest in peace 🙏
This album from Soundgarden is truly amazing and this is my favorite song. Put this on driving down the road and I'm head banging and getting weird looks. Chris Cornell can be put in legionary status with his voice. 🤘💥🤘
Agree with Lex about Chris voice😍 Loud love is another great example. The intro where his voice seemless takes over from the guitar 👌
Really rocked out in Soundgarden of this era. Try "Rusty Cage" or "Outshined" to get a bit of a taste of the power. And almost every single track on Superunknown is a banger
I grew up listening to black sabbath and this band most reminded me of them from the grunge period. This is the quintessential sound garden sound!
Chris’s voice is so damn unbelievable. You are 100% correct, Lex. Chris…best singer of all time.
🤘🤘🔥CHRIS CORNELL BEST ROCK N ROLL VOCALS OF ALL TIME. R.I.P CHRIS CORNELL 🔥🤘🤘🤘
When Chris says "So Bleed your heart out!"... WHEW!!! Chris is the GOAT!
Chris Cornell, Freddie Mercury, Maynard, Myles Kennedy, and Geddy Lee. My top 5. So glad y'all finally did this one.
chris cornell does have the best voice of all time, he is the gold standard. His lyrics are also hard to beat. GOAT
Such an amazing talent Chris was. To hear this and then hear him do a song like The Keeper. So versatile.
More Soundgarden guys, you will enjoy every second.
I remember when this was released, whole album was great, couldn't stop listening...kickass band.
Lex you should have been born a rocker. You are spot on every time. Chris has absolutely but arguably the best voice in Rock.
For some more great Cornell vocals, try his live performance of When I'm Down at the Troubadour.
One of the single greatest vocal performances ever 🎤🙏
Saw Chris live a few times. Yeah, he can do this live, probably better than the disc. F'n amazeballs !
So Good, one of the songs that really shows how powerful his voice really was,Loud Love is another one that kicks ass.I agree Lex,him and Robert Plant from Zep
'always felt this was Chris' best vocal performance/recording since first listen back in the early 90s.
A crazy blend of absolute control and pushing vocals where you shouldn't. It's so unfortunate his voice was damaged for so many other albums
Definitely one of the top 5 SoundGarden songs … check out :” H.I.V BABY! By them .But check out Chris Cornell’s vocals on “ Say hello to Heaven “ by Temple of the dog …and I agree with Lex : Chris was and still is the best … RIP Mr Cornell.
Matt Cameron, SG's drummer, doesn't get nearly the attention he deserves. He's top level, right along with Bonham, Peart, Ginger Baker and Grohl and fits within that range better than most rock drummers of the past 40 years. A creative force behind the kit, and a huge part of SG's sound!!
i love this woman!!! Her reaction is like so genuine!
I agree Lex, Chris is one of the best ever!!!!
So sad we will never be blessed with any more music from him.
Yes I would say Chris and Layne Staley are my favourites for sure 👌
This is my favorite Soundgarden song. A lesson in grunge all in this masterpiece of a track.
I agree with you Lex....Chris does have the best voice...soooo much character, passion and skill
I love this album so much.
My favourite singer in my favourite band ever..
Lucky me...
The soundtrack to my life is Soundgarden.
Miss you Chris...
Lex you're so right, he's the greatest Voice ever..
,🤘
03:25 - and this is when I realised I loved her. Shout out from Glasgow, Scotland.
Chris has the best voice in Rock n Roll History!!
Loud Love is worth a listen. One of the best intros ever.
I haven't discovered any rock singer that can touch Cornell's versatility. From the highest of high notes and screams with Soundgarden, to a lower, more monotone and melodic voice when he did his acoustic tour. Seeing him live acoustically twice, Chris could cover various different genres and put his own spin on them and each time his vocal prowess shined, and you would find yourself questioning whether his cover was better than the original artist's song. Not sure if there's another rock singer that can touch his body of work in that regard.
This may not be Soundgarden's best song, but its their best performance, if that makes sense. It highlights how good they could be as a band, heavy with a groove, and Cornell's vocals are unparalleled here.
Soundgarden is awesome! Next up you need to listen to Seeing With My Good Eye Closed, Fell On Black Days, or Superunknown.
This song and 'Rooms a thousand years wide' are two of my favorites from Soundgarden
Best rock vocal ever. EVER
what can you say about this singing animal, god gave him the magic and the power of his voice, impressive to listen to them makes my hair stand on end from all sides. I miss you Cris!!!!
You are absolutely correct, Lex. Best voice to ever pick up a microphone
Lex - you said you need to listen to more Chris Cornell / Soundgarden to decide his place in your favorites - SO LET'S DO IT - let's listen to more Soundgarden. A lot more. By the way - this album - Badmotorfinger - is amazing - every track on the album is fantastic. I think you previously did Rusty Cage - so that's two. Plenty more to choose from. Then there's 5 other albums after that. Can't wait to see your future reactions. Brad - i know this wasn't something you enjoyed too much - and i appreciate your candid and heartfelt reactions. That's all i can ask for. I have watched other reactors - and they were just mindless cheerleaders - and it got old pretty quick. That's why i love watching you two react to great music. Thanks for this one.
Thank you for reacting to this one. Much love!!
Stoked for more Soundgarden! You guys should checkout the song "Fresh Tendrils" by them next. Cheers
This is one of my favorite Soundgarden songs! So underated!
2:54 LEX IS SO WELL VERSED IN ROCK. SHE HAS EVERYTHING. LUCKY, LUCKY BRAD!
You have no idea how pleased and thankful I am that you covered this.
One of the very finest rock vocal chorus performances of all time.
this is reason 1 why Chris was the greatest
Have so many "favorite" Soundgarden tunes...but lately this one is at the top of the list.
Yep. I agree with Lex. Chris was the best. What puts him above so many really great singers is not only his amazing range and tone, but the sheer emotion in his voice. I miss Chris.
Slaves and Bulldozers man.. Chris Cornell's masterpiece in my opinion. I love everything prior and after but this album was special..
You guy's are by far the best duo to watch...super interested in the music and genuine reactions..great content!
Your right about Chris's voice. No one sounds as good with that range and power.
