Joe, I need to start pressing some pretty thick patches to hats. What's the best way to do this with the Siser Cap Press? Pre-heating the bottom platen? Can you do this in a video? Please?

Great video and easy instruction. You helped show me ideas I've struggled finding. My hat press has the pressure springs adapter plate protruding out the edge of the front, (its circular and the heat plate is rectangle) which forces the cap bill back, cranking it, but I think I can move the bottom heat plate out slightly to compensate. Also, I need to find a way to lock my hats down. No attachment on my cap press

If you plan on doing a lot of hats with HTV for your business, it may be a good idea to look into a reputable cap press that will allow you to properly adjust your pressure, accurate temp, and the ability to change platens. When you say “the way I made it is thick enough to go over the seam” -how did you make it “thick enough”?
What size Siser Platten did you use? I have 3 different sizes and when I lock down the hat - there is still a lot of play in the middle of the curve... The platen doesn't have the same curve as a trucker hat shape...I get wrinkles and creases in my designs - thanks
There are about 6 different platen sizes... you can always use a foam (such as a piece of mouse pad or yoga mat) to cushion or as filler in the middle of the hat.
How would you press the brick vinyl on a hat? I know you need to press on the back to really activate the adhesive, and I'm wondering how you'd do that on a hat?
For Blick 600 HTV on a hat, you simply have to press for 20 seconds at 320°F and it will adhere.
When should you change the cap press platen, on what type of hat and size and how would I know to switch it? By the way very nice video so now I can take mines out the box, which I had for 2 months and scared to use it smh
You will know when to switch platens, because the face (front panel) of the hat may vary in size. This is dependent on the type of cap, the manufacturer, etc.
That would be when you switch, and switch them back is very easy. The platen just falls into the grove of the Cap Press.

Hello! As long as it is heat applied to the cap correctly, it will last the lifetime of the cap.

I noticed you are not modifying your lower platen at all. Is this platen different from most "standard" platens in the market?
I have had a few cap presses but I've always had to modify my lower platen with foam inserts.
Hello! So, I was using a lower platen that fit perfectly to the hats I used in this video.
There are a ton of different dimensions of lower platens. If you get one that fits, you shouldn't have to use foam inserts.

If it is cotton then you can use dark transfer paper right?
Transfer paper is a different process than heat transfer vinyl.
Have some hats that have a thick. Seam and it wont take the vinyl on the sides of the seam.. Thoughts? any.suggestions ???
You may want to look into getting a lower cap platen that fits better with your hats. You must not be getting even pressure.
What size platen are you using to demo?
We used the standard size platen- 3.5" x 6"

These hats are cotton, but our material will stick to most all hats including polyester.
I have an issue with snapbacks and trucker hats bc of the square front, when I lock it down it never seems to lay completely flat. So when I press it, it wrinkles up. Any tips for that?
You may want to look into getting a platen that fits your hats better. Usually Cap Presses have the ability to change the platens.

How can you do this without a hat heat press? I have a medium size Cricut easy press 2 and a Mini heat press
you can use the mini easypress, but you still need to make sure you are applying good press over the cap.

I have that same press but have a problem it keeps pinching the middle of the cap in word leaving a real ugly cress no matter how far I set pressure any suggestions
yes! I would suggest getting another size platen to better fit your caps. This will make a big difference.
Sounds like the platen you currently have may be too big for your hats.

Striflock is a cold peel???
The original StripFlock was a cold peel.... StripFlock Pro is a warm peel.
What kind of printer do you need to print on that stuff?
You just need a vinyl cutter and some Siser HTV!

You can probably get away with a "Standard" size cap platen ... or the "Rookie" size

That is the Siser Digital Cap Press or more commonly referred to as the "Red Cap Press". You should be able to get one from an Authorized Siser Distributor. If you don't currently order from a distributor, send your zip code to info@siserna.com and tell them what your'e looking for and they will point you to the nearest distributor.

I just got the same press and using the same hats but what ever press I use I keep getting this ugly cress down the middle of the cap

On the cap I am wearing, I used our Brick® 600 HTV
how do you avoid scorch marks?
With any Polyester fabric, fully avoiding scorch marks can be very challenging. Unfortunately, there isn't a perfect formula for that.
Make sure you have a cap platen that fits your hat correctly, that is very important. Make sure your pressure is set correctly.
With most of our HTV, you have a margin of temperatures you can apply at. With The EasyWeed Family, you can drop the temp down to about 285 and press for about 15-20 seconds.
This may help quell the scorching.
What size do you do your designs
That will all be dependent on the hat sizes and your placement.

So you know how sometimes when using a cap press you get that weird “ledge” at the top of where the platens meet (top edge from pressing)? Any suggestions to help reduce the press marks on hats?
You can try decreasing the pressure a bit... or make sure the inside seam of the hat is not on the platen. Unfold it, and that will help alleviate any ledge mark above the brim of the hat.

my cap does not fit flush on the platen despite trying to move it around!!!!!
You may want to look into other size platens! Each hat has a slightly different dimension.
Or if u can invest in the stahls 360 iq ...u dont have to change platens @ all
So are these hats cotton? I found out that hats that are polyester blend the siser HTV doesn't stick.
Seems to really jack up the hat is there a way to do it without getting it all wrinkled
And creased ? The first cap looked good but the others got kinda out of shape

Need to address the marks and seams the press is putting in the hats. No customer would accept that.
