Shoesstring, you were a blessing for many. You will forever be remembered, it's sad knowing you're no longer with us, but you still are. Your videos , awesome! RIP brother...
Hey Shoestring, I discovered your channel few days back and have been binge watching your videos ever since. I'm a loner myself and I really enjoy the sense of solitary freedom I get from your videos. Stay safe out there. Cheers from Europe
Your knowledge of geography & where tracks lead to is really on point, I enjoy learning new things & seeing another perspective when watching your videos. Great ride & video, really enjoyed this one.
Yep! Reminds me of the song ,,,, I've been everywhere man....Johnny Cash.... He has some knowledge now ....... Did you ever hear what happened to his hand ?????
I used to write the ship loading software for those containers at a port in CA. They have different lashing systems and twist locks on the corners. Every container and stack has various parameters such as size, strength code, load weight. Each container and the entire stack has to be calculated using algebra or else the entire ship load can go into the ocean or the ship itself can break in half if misloaded. The ship + stack undergo various twisting forces while in motion at sea.
@@marcmcdonald2888 My father was a longshoreman, and I remember him talking about the dangers of lashing and why he did not take those jobs if he could help it...
Gotta watch out for the 10 foot Woodboogers out there in East Tennessee my brother. So damn amazing to see you out again. I always have to listen to my Dad tell me he's too old to get out and do anything anymore. So, I pulled up your videos and told him "If Shoestring can get over coronavirus then go ride a freight train, you can come camping with me" so thanks for motivating my Pops. 🤣🤣👌 Much love from Memphis. Ps: glad you caught out on that double stacker instead of waiting. Ride on Cowboy. Much respect

Someone should write Shoestring's life story, this man has been to more places than most people could ever dream of going. Just think of what a book that would be.
Did a bit of research......Sevier Yard at Knoxville was opened in 1925 by the Southern Ry, and by 1951 when the hump was added it was 2 miles long and one-half mile wide. At the time the yard consisted of 80 miles of track , 420 switches, and over a quarter of a million crossties. It closed as a major switching yard in April of 2016, and today hosts primarily locals, serves as a crew change spot, and is used for car storage. Keep on ride'in , Shoestring !
That was a pretty cool ride. I like the zoom on your camera. It did really good on those lights along Cement Plant Rd. I looked at that yard on Google Maps and it is huge
