Remember when Spider-man got trapped in a underwater lair and was pinned by a enormous support beam. But was able to lift himself out underneath it with his sheer will power and pushing himself to the absolute limits his body strength can go. Then writers tried to recon his strength but never succeeded because they couldn't make Spider-man look less powerful.
Because we all agreed to never mention it again under penalty of being deleted. If there is anything you like doing, I suggest you start doing it right now.
Then later, in a different run of the Spider Man comics, the female one of those twins, who I remind you, has a chronological age of ten or so, attempts to seduce Parker into having an affair with her. She fails thankfully, but the very fact that they thought up of that storyline in the first place is rather disturbing to me, and most other people as well I would certainly think.
One More Day was awful. There's no reason for it to have existed. Someone should make a deal with Mephisto to make One More Day never happen. ..... uh, make sure you word it better.
Quesada and the spineless hacks writing Spider-man at the time rather wanted to reset the status quo and write pale imitations of old comics than to do anything that would take the character in a new direction
Agreed, that comic set Spiderman's character back so many years its not even funny. He had his marriage with MJ, he was a family man, an adult! He nor the story needed aunt May around anymore, so they should've just killed her off in an impactful way and use that as a driving force and motivation for Peter's new path in life, instead, they decided to throw away decades of stories, his whole relationship with MJ, just so they can keep him as a man-child because he's more easily identifiable to the public that way, therefore making it easier for them to shit out new stories and guarrantee those sales.
This is why it is NOT the best idea to reveal your secret identity, mainly when you have people who are seeking to cause you pain or put you on their wall as a trophy lol
Ben Reilly for life! Oh wait, he’s back and going strong in his own title again for two years? We’re good here. But seriously, that hoodie and outside web shooters was pretty awesome.
1) We don't talk about Trouble. ... ever. 2) The spy parents thing is actually something Stan Lee set up in the 60s. The robot stuff is all 90s nonsense though. 3) The Clone Saga was a .... mixed bag but it isn't nearly as bad as people on the Internet make it out to be. 4) OMD is WORSE than people on the Internet make it out to be though. Spider-Man still hasn't recovered from that... unless you count the guy from Renew Your Vows as the "real" Spider-Man. ... which is pretty much how we treated the retired Spider-Man from Spider-Girl the LAST time some hack caused an unnecessary reboot. 5) The thing about the Other is that they'd actually told the exact same story a few years before it. In his Avengers Disassembled tie-in (Changes), Peter is turned into a monster and then dies giving birth to a version of himself with slightly different powers (he actually got the organic webs in Changes). Between Changes and the Other, Spider-Man is his own grandpa.
Amazing Spider-Man #366 isn't where it's revealed that Peter's parents are super spies. It was revealed all the way back in Amazing Spider-Man Annual #5 from 1968. It revealed not only were they super spies, but they were triple agents, working within the Red Skull's organization to take it down, but were discovered and killed for it. The issue you're talking about "revealed" that Peter's parents had actually survived, and had finally come back, but they turned out to be robots made by the Chameleon.
You have great on-camera charisma, dude. So great that I was able to look past your hipster fashion choices, pity you for them, and still deeply appreciate the Spider-Man info and the way it was delivered.
Number 3 is made only worse when you read a part of Superior Spider-Man where Peter is reliving all of Otto's memories and has to experience his and Mama May's early marital night
Good video, but I would prefer if you explained when these comics were retconned, for example showing comics that specifically point out that these events never happened would've been better
The one that pisses me off is the age every OG Fan Knows he was 17 when he got bit now because Bendis f’d up in Civil War and confused 616 Peter with Ultimate Comics Peter thus making people believe he was 15 despite him literally being a College student fresh off of Highschool Graduation for most of his Original Run

I actually DO know what happens in the clone saga. It doesn't make a lick of sense and goes off the rails REALLY fast and can't ever truly return from it while still trying to move forward. I will admit the one cool power he got from the 'Other' story line was his ability to sort of communicate with spiders. I always thought as a kid he should be able to do that, I mean falcon can communicate with redwing, so why not.
Aunt May dies several times. Though, usually it is just a paid actress that Norman Osbourne hired (one time it was a skrull). The clone saga was ALSO a prank arranged by Norman Osbourne.
OK I'll give that The Other was a little odd with the spider totem change but the overall story was amazing in my opinion. Exploring the line of where the man ends and the spider begins was amazing and deep.

Wait... what? The era where Peter and MJ were married were some of the best and most narratively interesting comics to ever come out of Spider-Man. Mcfarlane and Larson's run made them married and kinky and that was fun to read.
I have a feeling Gwen Stacy's death has been officially retconned due to the new series they're releasing where Gwen is now Spider Gwen, but unlike the original origin story, they implemented a new origin where it wasn't Peter who died and she was blamed for, but instead her childhood friend Kevin who died and she's being blamed for. So I feel like they're making her official canon in the main marvelverse.

It still pisses me off that they killed Pete and MJ's daughter. Having a child would not have ruined the story.

I like how today we have several heroes with kids like Jessica Jones, Spiderwoman, Batman, and Superman
I wonder if someday we’ll get a spider-woman (may parker jr) retcon. It’ll prove that the baby wasn’t a problem in the story.
I overall hated eveything they have done to Peter's and MJ's relationship as a whole. OMD is an absolute disgrace and should have never happened.
There's a spinoff series called "Spider Girl" where she lives and picks up the webslinging mantle.
