Sadly this commercial was made during the ‘Ultra’ era when Braniff was just years away from collapse. I often ponder, what if Braniff had survived, or never gone bankrupt in the first place, what would it look like today? Would they be all Boeing, Airbus, or a combination of both? What would their route map look like? Would they, like most US carriers nowadays offer a mediocre product? Would they still be headquartered at DFW? Would they have the $$$$$$$$ to compete with cross-airport monster, AA? My Grandfather was a DC-8 F/O (started with Panagra in the early 50s), he retired from Braniff in 77, 5 years before that horrible day, so I have a soft spot for this once-great airline. Memories of running through MSP, DAL/DFW as a kid along with my brother and sister choosing which color plane we wanted to fly on my favorite was the two-toned Blue 707 (or Green), are still fresh in my mind…Haylcon days..
Yeah I believe the story behind that is when Matt and Trey taped the original SP pilot episode, it was recorded on a VHS tape that still had an old Braniff commercial from a previous recording. For whatever reason, they kept it in and has become a curious oddity that still grabs a lot of attention and comment. BTW, that Braniff ad mentioned is of Braniff MkII, which operated from 1984-1989. Honestly, you can not revive the deceased, when I first flew this iteration of Braniff, I knew the Braniff that I had grown up with was gone forever and had a gut feeling back this that Braniff MkII was not going to survive.
Only 9 comments so far and the cigarette smoke whinging has already stated. I am from the UK and have little experience of Braniff. However, in 1979 I did take one of their 727's on the short sector from DCA to JFK in First Class. This was the final leg of a flight which had originated in DFW so wasn't expecting a meal or anything on this short sector. There were few passengers in First Class. After take off the FA too forever to ask me if I wanted anything. I asked for a coffee, She produced one in a polystyreen cup. Before the coffee had cooled sufficiently to actually drink it, she came back and took it away as we were about to land. Was not impressed. This is hearsay but a friend of mine also took their new flight from LGW-DFW around that time in Economy and told me the food was inedible.
I wonder where some of these former Braniff International employees are now and where they went to water BI shutdown. I think about the craziest things I know.

I miss the Easter egg color collection at the braniff terminals✈❤

Braniff II was all Airbus.
太平洋路線が強化され、日本への乗り入れを果たしていたと思います。勿論KIXや福岡、CTSに乗り入れていたでしょう。
そして、LAXやDFWで中南米路線とのトランジットが行われていたはず。
beautiful planes
Braniff appears at the end of South Park episodes!

This has been a pre-2006 South Park episode.

I miss Braniff.
I remember that here on RUclips there was the last commercial but in color

1:38 It’s the Concorde. The supersonic jet.
Would Braniff have even survived if things had been different? We are down to 6 legacy carriers in the US. 6!
生き残っていたとは思うが、その場合、太平洋路線の強化に乗り出し、恐らくナショナルがPan Amではなくブラニフかイースタンに吸収合併されてたはず。

THIS Braniff employee went on to work for America West. But my vivid memories of working got BI will never dim. It was FUN!
