I’m a flight attendant for another major airline and one afternoon flight during boarding a woman approached me and very quietly said to me that she was concerned about being on the flight because she had stage 3 colon cancer and that at any given time she might have to run to the bathroom I was so overwhelmed with compassion for her that I wanted to make sure she was comfortable and had easy access to the bathroom so I moved her closer to it. I also left a bathroom unlocked for her during takeoff and landing just in case we’re supposed to lock them for safety reasons but this was just the one time for her. Some people are going through stuff we don’t know about some are brave and share others keep it quiet and to themselves let’s just try to be more understanding.

@@ciaociaociao502its only a policy of this airline, not an FAA "safety requirement". If you have your own private plane, or charter a plane, you can do whatever you want with the bathroom doors at landing and takeoff.

I was at an airport and went to the bathroom where I heard a lady sort of sobbing in a stall. I was confused and felt I needed to ask if she needed assistance. She only spoke Spanish and I do as well so I asked she said she was embarrassed to say much less to open the door. I convinced her, she had soiled in her clothing and did not know what to do. I told her to stay out and calmed her down. I was an hr away from departure and had to go to a gate but I figured time would be ok. I went to three different stores finding a pair of pants or shorts and a T-shirt .
I brought them back to her. Needless to say she was overwhelmed with gratitude I was overwhelmed with empathy as she was older and alone. We should always do not what we can but rather go above and beyond you never know when it will be you or someone you love. That is what loving your neighbor is.

Right. These people in the comments are so much better than the way a top hospital just treated me when I had a c section and ended up needing blood transfusions and to be put on a ventilator then a collapsed lung, ileus, and a stuck piece of placenta in the icu while my baby was in the nicu under the lights for jaundice. She ended up extremely underweight and when I got put on a different floor after I was off life support, I had to get to the portable toilet on my own. They kept moving it further away in different parts of the room and even right by my bedside, full, when I had company . No no one ever cleaned it and only emptied once. The icu and gyno floor said they rarely if ever get patients sent there from deliveries, so they weren't sure what I needed but at least the icu kept checking my blood and gave me another transfusion when I needed it. I just had to sit for hours, waiting on blood with bad chest pains from blood loss I guess. Having no pain medicine sucked, but they'd give me dilaudid when I was really bad off in the icu and couldn't sleep. I wasn't allowed to eat or drink water the whole week, so I needed my IV bags. When I needed to be cleaned from all the blood (on the next floor I was put on-gyno) or when the ng tube came apart and my stomach contents ended up on me 🤦‍♀️I had to keep hitting the call button, and also when my iv bag ran out, where they'd sometimes just turn off the beeping and not change it, or it said air in the line, but they were almost always annoyed when I called them in for all the things that they normally would do automatically, including things that helped keep me alive. I tried not to use the call button, I was so humiliated from being an inconvenience to the nurses and assistants. When I was finally discharged in a wheelchair with my baby in a car seat in my lap, I was wheeled out and said "bye... take care" to all the staff surrounding the desk, and they just gave me some strange and mean looks instead of replying. Even the worker who pushed me out started yelling at me for my ride taking so long, because I drove myself there and my car eventually died in the parking garage. The whole event went from traumatizing to mortifying, but thankfully after I got my baby home, she gained all her weight back, and some. She was supposed to be born on the solar eclipse, but because of the serious complications putting risk to my life, they made me have her early.

I once got stuck in a Walmart bathroom. one of the few times I went any where alone. It was coming out both ends. I was scared and in so much pain. The amazing workers shut the bathroom down, brought me a trash can, took my cell phone and called my Dad. My dad (who would be dead 6 months later) came 30 miles in hurricane force winds and rain and did some of the most fatherly things he had ever done. He got me together enough to carry/drag me to the car. Then drive home in the same weather conditions but this time he did it one handed while holding onto me with the other hand.

I worked at goodwill for a while and one time this eldery lady approached me, she was alone and quietly told me she soiled her pants and asked if i could please direct her to where pants her size were, since we stock stuff by the type of clothing first and then by size she would have had to wander around the store a bit to look for them. I sent her to the bathroom and had her wait for me there while i found a couple in her size that i had my manager help me ring up for her so i could take them to her. Years ago when i worked at Sam's Club, an elderly gentleman had that issue from where he was until he got to the bathroom. He left a trail and immediately our manager, a wonderful man named David, put cones up by all the areas, then immediately went into the clothing section and got him underwear, pants, socks and even tennis shoes. He closed off the mens bathroom while he and another male manager washed him down and helped clean him up. Everything given to him was comped and he was so appreciative of the kindness that was shown to him. The head maintenence person quickly went to work disinfecting everything and taking the mini zamboni around where the trail was. It was one of the most caring, considerate and compassionate acts of helping someone truly in need ive ever witnessed.

I was on a 4 hour flight from Bangkok to Taipei when the young girl sitting next to me started throwing up. I was covered in vomit but was more concerned about her. She was an Indian girl going off to college in America and it was her first time away from home. Anyway I helped her get cleaned up along with the flight attendants. We all worked to assure the young lady that it was no big deal and that it happens.
When in Taipei waiting for my 18.5 hour flight to Los Angeles I got cleaned up, threw the clothes I was wearing away, then waited at the gate for the boarding call. I looked over and saw the gate agent holding a sign over her head with my name on it. I responded to find out that they had upgraded me to first class for being so cool and understanding with the vomit incident. First class on an 18+ hour flight over the Pacific Ocean meant a bed to actually sleep in and eating off a menu of wonderful choices. The best part was when you chose your wine, they left you with the bottle.
A little bit of kindness and understanding goes along way and karma was my friend that day. Lol

My mother is a Flight attendant and twice had someone pass away on her flight, both international. One was an elderly man who had a heart attack over the Atlantic en route to Madrid and he was traveling w. his wife. That woman was now alone in a foreign country with her husband gone she was distraught but a lot of people stuck around after the flight to console & help her however they could (very tragic and it affected my mother). the other just passed in their sleep wearing sunglasses and no one noticed till the flight was nearing the destination, so the quickest option was to continue and not divert. But she was the lead attendant on that flight & had to keep her crew calm, the man sitting next to the now dead passenger was in shock but calm and understanding, and she had to pretend like everything was okay so as to not cause a panic on the plane as no other passenger was aware. I guarantee u she’d take a diarrhea diversion over those types of incidents.

It happened when I worked in a primary school. One day my shift was over, I was leaving work and saw one of my students standing behind the bathroom door. He was barefoot. I came closer and noticed that he was covered with his own poop head to toe, including his clothes.
He was 8, so tiny and terrified, scared to go back to his art class, because all of the classmates would make fun of him.
I took him to the staff bathroom, helped him to undress and clean up. Imagine, he had poop everywhere.
I called his mom, then ran to the locker room, grabbed his PE clothes so he could change.
I was his English teacher, he used to come to my class twice a week, but after this incident, he was coming to see me everyday, whenever he could… He never said “thank you”, but he was the most grateful child, I felt it. He’s around 17 now. 😊

We cannot predict what will happen today when we wake up. We might suddenly get sick, eat something bad, have an accident. It might happen to *you* tomorrow. So maybe stop holding on to that pride of yours, because life has its way of reminding us of how we have no control over it. We were at the gate waiting. Dad was in a wheelchair and said he had to "go". Dad couldn't stand on his own and it was just my adult daughter and I (this was before they had family restrooms) and we couldn't go in the Mens room and Dad couldn't go in the Ladies room soooo.... We were really in a quandary when a gentleman with USAir approached us and asked if we needed assistance. We told him what the problem was and he so graciously said he would help. He picked Dad up and carried him into the restroom and helped Dad do his thing. As it turned out, this gentleman was a FA on our flight. He was so kind and respectful with Dad. It really made a difference. We had 4 more beautiful years with Dad after that, and we will all remember that FA's kindness.

2 of my 3 siblings have chrons. My older sister was diagnosed in the late 90's and my younger brother almost died due to it in 2010. He'd been hospitalized in critical condition when they discovered chrons was the cause. Ulcers had perforated and he was bleeding internally. He'd always been kind of a tough guy when it came to pain or illness, he'd just do his best to ignore it and get on with life until he eventually felt better, which ultimately almost killed him. The amount of pain he'd been tolerating prior to landing in the hospital is difficult to even imagine. Fortunately, he recovered and the experience caused him to give up the practice of simply tolerating pain and illness. He was diagnosed with MS a few yrs later and has also been through a bout with cancer since then. He wouldn't still be here if he hadn't changed.

She was looking at the customers in line. I told her don’t even look at them there’s another girl who can handle it (thank goodness.) I just continued to talk calmly to her until she could get her bearings, and the attack passed. She was so thankful to me for just those few moments that seem like hours if you ever had one. I have a bladder disease that feels like a nonstop UTI. When I really have to pee, it quite literally feels like torture. On a flight back from Hawaii we went through a lot of turbulence and they would not let us get up. My daughter noticed I was tearing up and when she asked what was wrong I told her I had to pee and I felt like my bladder was being ripped apart. She told my dad who flagged down a flight attendant. He told the young man the situation, and the guy said “you have to stay in your seat for your own safety”. After my tears turn to loud sobs, my dad waved down the man again and told him that it was a medical emergency. The man said having to go to the bathroom is not classified as a medical emergency. We tried to get the attention of other flight attendants, but they were all buckled in to their seats. My dad told the young man that this was turning into a legal matter if he refused to let me go. The man said fine, but if I got hurt, it wasn’t his fault. I was in so much pain by the time he finally unlocked the bathroom, I could barely walk. My daughter had to help me into the bathroom. You never know what someone is going through. A little kindness and compassion can go along way. I would’ve given anything for just an ounce of compassion on that flight.

The ten years old started throwing up just after we took off. The two year old was on my lap screaming and crying for hours. People were yelling at me and giving ME dirty looks. I finally got so mad that I called for the stewardess and very loudly told her that those were NOT my children and to go get their parents out of first class. The parents were intoxicated. I ended up having to carry two kids and my own bags all the way to counter (customs)where I set them down, pointed out their parents to the security officer and told them that I am not responsible for them. I told them what happened and I was livid. I wasn't even an adult myself and these were strangers who didn't even speak English. Other passengers and a stewardess confirmed what I said
The parents were taken away by security while the poor stewardess was left with the kids. 😮 I had another flight to catch. I'm now 43 and a parent myself and it makes me FURIOUS when I remember just how irresponsible they were.

And the little one didn't even get their own seat because of their age, and you were left holding them in your lap?! Again, what kind of parents are these? This is a good case for birth control because these parents were totally irresponsible, and I've no doubt in my mind that things were just as bad or worse at home. They should never have had kids. I don’t have a work story about bodily fluids but I made my partner cry once early in our relationship because he came over to spend the night at mine after a work party where he ate something bad and didn’t realise until he developed food poisoning overnight. He couldn’t make it to the bathroom in time and I was a broke student living in a set of apartments with communal washing machines and didn’t want to put his clothes in there. I hand washed his underwear in my sink and when he was no longer delirious from dehydration and found out, he was so embarrassed and apologetic.
I told him it’s natural and I know he’d do the same for me. Turns out he got his chance to be the hero when I became sick on a different occasion and couldn’t stop vomiting. He cradled me on my bathroom floor as I kept puking all over him and he showered me and dressed me and took me to the hospital when I passed out.
Everyone deserves kindness for when we’re in our weakest moments.

I was 18 years old with a three month old baby I just recently got divorced Lol so I was flying from Mississippi to Alaska and on our flight from Mississippi to Houston. My son got violently ill and threw up all over me. We were sitting next to two guys. They were a couple and they were just the most amazing guys ever I will never forget this. They offered to take care of him while I went to the bathroom and changed my clothes and cleaned up. I wish I knew who those guys were because they were just so amazing.

The last time I flew, I ended up very ill. I've had worsening vertigo that began after a life-threatening virus the hospital couldn't identify in 2015. It has drastically affected my balance, and the side effects are me easily getting motion sick now, even from certain screens and lighting. I especially feel ill in planes, when I'd loved flying prior to that. I didn't know I'd be so sick until it happened, though.
I was flying 3000 miles up north in the US to visit my family with my son, who was barely about a year and a half old at that time. I was around some amazing young men that held and entertained my boy when I had to rush to the bathroom for being sick. It is invaluable to people with issues like these when you can have compassion. We never know what others are going through.

This is not ok! If this was the first time that person should learn from it and do their best to make sure it does not happen again.
Next time book a seat right next to the lavatories, they are always free.
There is nothing ok about this!
Maybe you have the space and freedom to deal with other peoples issues, a lot of us have our own issues that we handle ourselves without others noticing.
You know why nobody sits near the lavatories? It is because there are loads of people that get unwell on planes. The either throw up or worse. They do that in the restroom and the restroom and it’s close surroundings often have an odour of that.
What makes you say somebody leaving excrements throughout the whole cabin is ok? You must think real highly of yourself and put yourself on some kind of holy level.
To be clear again. Not being able to timely reach a bathroom in an aircraft is not ok, people do not feel bad for you when it happens. We look at you in disgust and disdain.
If you thought the nice people telling you that it is not a problem really mean it ask yourself if it is their job to coddle you, then ask yourself what they will say to each other after you have left, even to other passengers.
This is not ok, it will never be ok, a mistake was made that impacted a lot of people. The person that caused this made that mistake and should not make it again.
Stop trying to make yourself feel good by giving your so-called heartfelt support in comments on internet. It is not support because you know the perpetrator that would have to feel better will not read it, it is self gratification in which you are sitting around looking for likes on your comment.
Honestly, it would be like me telling you that I typed out this rant to display to you the views of others. Actually, I did it to put you on blast and let others know that there is absolutely nothing wrong with knowing that IT IS NOT OK!

When I was 3 months pregnant with my oldest son and waiting tables at a Dennys I was taking my customers buffalo wings to their table and the smell instantly made me nauseous but didnt really feel like i was going to vomit. However, as I was sitting the wings down on their table I began projectile vomiting all over them, their food, their drinks and anything else within about a 3ft radius. I was so shocked that I was actually vomiting on them I just stood for a good 20 seconds before i started running towards the bathroom. On the way to the bathroom I continued to vomit all over the floors near other people who were trying to eat.
I was so mortified I refused to come out of the stall I ran into and locked the door. It was actually the lady whose food I vomited all in and all over her that talked me out of the stall. She showed me so much kindness when she definitely did not have to. She had every right to enraged but she chose kindness instead. I was only 17yrs old and was already terrified about being pregnant. Her and her husband left me a $50 tip lol.

Had to get her a riding cart and it was running down her shoes, the cart and a trail going to bathroom. It smelled horrible but myself and the staff got wipes and went and picked out pajamas for her to change into free of charge. I have emetophobia but still helped this lady. 2 years ago I knee replacement surgery. It is fairly common to give a patient on opioid pain medication laxatives, which I took. The next day I rang the nurse, saying that I needed help getting to the bathroom. To my horror I couldn't get to the bathroom quickly enough and soiled myself as well as leaving a trail to the toilet. I was so embarrassed that I was in tears. The nurse assured me that there was no reason to be upset, because I was taking a laxative and that this often happens. She cleaned me up, got me back in bed and got an orderly to clean and disinfect the floor, all the while soothing and calming me. I will never forget her gentle kindness.

What a wonderful nurse. I had the opposite happen. I was thrown on the floor. I had lost the ability to walk without assistance due to multi organ failure. I had been put on all these meds that caused a major blockage. They loaded me with Colace & other “softeners & stimulants” I needed assistance as i was about to soil myself because it all kicked in! The night staff were so cruel. I was so afraid to mess myself because they were incredibly aggressive if they had to clean me up. I had been just holding it in for dear life… i decided i needed to get myself there. The staff of night nurses & CNA’s were right outside the door talking trash about how bad i smelled. (I was refused a shower for 2 weeks) I was using a Walker that was left in my room to make my way to the bathroom & as i finally made it to the doorway, the CNA entered, yelled at me for trying to get to the BR on my own then proceeded to shove me on to the floor in an attempt to make me use the portable toilet chair that was on the other side of the room. I was too short to climb up onto it & didn’t have good balance so that’s why i was making my way to the bathroom. I lost my bowels on impact & she proceeded to yell “why didn’t you f’in use the call button!” I had been calling for over 20 minutes…. It was 3am. My family filed a report that same day, they reviewed my cameras that were in the room as it was a risk of fall unit & they saw her assault me. Suddenly i got the bums rush & they discharged me in less than a few hrs later to some jankey physical rehabilitation center as I was still unable to stand & walk without assistance. That place smelled like those cinnamon pine cones they sell at Christmas & urine. It was no better there…the screams of unattended patients & the wanderers. I realized that I was in a mental ward & not the side of the rehabilitation unit! There was a “clerical error” On the discharge paperwork. That CNA, Her name is Analise…I’ll never forget her. She’s still employed there at the ICU.

I was in a store, in the uk, and I saw an older lady crying. I asked what was wrong, and she whispered that she’d had an accident. I took her to the disabled toilet, and went to get a member of staff. They went to see how they could help. They were more than helpful. They gave her free clothes and underwear, plus some pads, in case she had another accident. Then they phoned her son, and took her to the cafe, and got her a cup of tea, and a piece of cake, while she waited for her son. I sat with her, and she thanked me. I think, it was the store staff that deserved the thanks they got, as they went way above what they needed to do. 😊

I cannot tell you how much this has eased my severe anxiety. I get very anxious going out, afraid I may 💩 myself or throw up, because anxiety is such an awful thing. I'm disabled and my anxiety is now worse than it's ever been. After seeing this I feel a lot better. FYI : This amazes me. My dad was on a flight back from Las Vegas where he and his wife were building a home. Just B4 the plane took off he started feeling nauseous. While he was married to my mom he would make fun of her for having anxiety and how anxiety is just all in your head etc. He was very cold and had no compassion. As they were closing the door my father was getting worse. The gentleman behind him said I have some pepto bismal maybe that would help. My father insisted something wasn't right. The stewardess went up and spoke with the captain and said I think he's just having a panic attack and he will be ok. Nobody was taking him seriously. As the plane took off, my father went into cardiac arrest. They weren't even 5 mins in the air and could have turned the plane around, but the captain went going. Everyone immediately moved as far up as they could, they pulled out a mini life boat and started filling it with ice and laid my dad in it and they were giving aspirin etc. He was stuck on a flight that was 4 hrs long back to the East Coast and as soon as the got off instead of taking him to the closet hospital, they drove him to the worst hospital in Maryland St. Agnes. If it wasn't for all the people on the plane ✈ praying 🙏 and asking if they could help I don't think he would have made it. My point here is, I can understand having to turn around because the smell I'm sure was very, very bad, but having someone going into cardiac arrest is just as important. Don't you think? P. S. I commend the captain for doing the right thing and I hope everyone was ok 👌🏼.

I know how this person must have felt. I am a caregiver, and occasionally, some of my patients had accidents like this in public . It is tough on them. I'm hoping this person is okay.

I’m actually dealing with daily crazy anxiety surrounding everything about vomiting in public or having an accident in front of everyone.
Seeing that many people having compassion and understanding, truly gives me hope and makes me realize that not all humans are mean. Some are very helpful and understanding despite going through these embarrassing moments.
    This helps my phobias !
    Thank you ❤

I adopted a kitten from a shelter in South Carolina for my parents. live. This kitten had horrible diarrhea. I had to take this kitten that I didn't know out of the carrier in the bathroom and try to clean it and manage all of my stuff. at the same time. People were very kind and helped me out. kitten poop everywhere.
