What a fantastic script! It’s terribly difficult to capture a sense of romantic love and they did it sensationally here. In awe. Each emotion fully realized and realistic punctuated with charming comic relief. Quality series.
@@robertwhite8528 Or, and this is wild, people under 40 watched _Nick at Night_ back in the 90s that had reruns every night of black and white sitcoms.
Bert Remsen who played the heckler in the audience at the Army camp did some voiceovers in some of the episodes as radio announcers and tv announcers.I recognized his voice.
The beautiful white dress Laura wore on the date with Clark is the same dress she wore to impress playboy Drew Patton in Season 4, Episode 5, "The Man from Emperor."
@@echocheck OMG, yes. They had no sense that the show would be a classic and scrutinized by fans 60 years later as they watch every episode on RUclips. :) There are 100s of continuity errors from the rock in the basement leaving no room for a pool table, to the pool shark episode, to the starting the day of the Richie's birth in one house and ending the day in the new house, to Buddy being Bar Mitzvahed as a kid AND as an adult, to the many regular characters playing multiple parts, etc. But it's still the #1 sitcom of all time! At least, it is to me and Wanda Maximoff 😁
@@echocheck to their credit, when she wore it for Drew Patton she told Rob it was "ages old" so it's not too hard to believe that she'd had it since before they got married! It's a little hard to believe that stylish Laura would still be wearing it though, especially since she did so much shopping.
Yeah, that's why she said somebody better do something or she's going to be in trouble. She could see the future or at least her fantasy future. 😚 "Maybe" she had a personal pleaser//best friend to fill that void in her life??😏
If Laura felt like she needed to see someone other than Rob, then Rob needed to move on. Rob might’ve ended up with some really great girl who would’ve adored him.
equally possible he would have ended up with real psychotic, ugly, etc girl as well. Being in a relationship---even worse married to a girl//woman you can't get along with much less trust or worse can't love is worse than the previous. Been there, lived that and know the consequences. She had or developed a psychotic personality disorder, ie: a psychopathic personality disorder known today as Antisocial Personality Disorder---- and life was hell.
Boy-oh-boy, what a contentious episode! If I had been in the fictitious Rob Petrie's position Laura would have had to marry the other guy. Any girl that would date another guy, under those circumstances, isn't worth worrying about! ( Edit: Great episode though!😉 )
What circumstances? If I'd been Laura I'd have married the gorgeous Clark Rice and not the petulant, self centered, childishly jealous Rob. As least Clark wasn't giving her orders and deadlines. What an ego!
@@janetfreedom5437 As I said, "the fictitious Rob Petrie"; this isn't reality. And the circumstances indicated in the fictitious sitcom we all just watched. 🤨
So u can give your opinion but I can't give mine. Alright, since it seems so important to u I'll amend it to the "fictious"Laura. Ty for pointing that out because before I thought it was a documentary! Since u feel that your opinion is the only one that matters better u don't read my posts Rob. Sorry, Jeff!
Another episode (Will You Be My Wife?) mentions that when Rob was engaged to Laura, he had another fiancee at his home. Not just a girlfriend, a fiancee. So he isn't really in a position to lecture her. He's just lucky she didn't know, or she might have just gone and married Clark instead.
Rob had more "other women" episodes than Laura had "other men" episodes but there were quite a few of them-- most of them were phenomenal episodes as this is the best sitcom of all time.
So according to some of the comments it's cool for Rob to have another fiancee during this time but 17 year old Laura can't date someone else to see what she wants in life... 🙄
Sometimes when all else fails an ultimatum needs to be given to indicate consequences. I finally issued an ultimatum to a verbally abusive husband before divorcing him. It was the last ditch attempt to get him to listen. Occasionally they can shock a person back in to reality of their actions.
Rob knocking on the window and showing his watch really cracks me up.

I wasn't going to watch it again but I did.
It was well written. You're right.
One of my favorite episodes thank you.
Let her go Rob all she wants is her own television show in a newsroom in Minnesota!
😃😃😃😃
How old did you say you are?? Gotttta be my age +/-, (68 ), to know about that show.
😂

I also wish they would have changed Laura's hairstyle a bit to show the passage of time. The Dick Van Dyke show is really bad on continuity.

If you look through the credits at 25:00, they have someone officially in charge of 'script continuity'. Were they always sleeping on the job? 😂
The whoopie dress.

That white dress is beautiful
Something of a cross between Ricky Nelson and Elvis---super handsome man, suave moves, and glib talk. Not necessarily bad 😊.
YES VERY HANDSOME MAN!
I love how these flashback episodes are not canon compliant so in half Millie is married to Jerry, and the other half she's not married to him.
i mean, it could just be before they met/got married.
I think it's sort of humorous how Millie is a friend in so many areas of Laura's life. Sort of traits of a co-dependent personality.
If this was reality, Rob and Laura wouldn't have made it that far in their relationship.
Millie got to kiss two cuties!

Green Hornet- Yes. Potsie's real-life father - No.
Imagine if Rob dated another woman, especially if she was super good looking. 😆
