In the 1950s, we had Bugs Bunny teaching us about opera. In the 1980s, we had Hooked on Classics to teach us how to appreciate centuries old music. In 2024, we have VoicePlay once again making classical music fun for a new generation.
I think what I've come most to love about this work is that no one, absolutely NO ONE, has ever even thought of doing this orchestrally, let alone that this is a capella. The closest example would be PDQ Bach's "Classical Rap", and if Mr. Schickele were still alive, he'd be applauding Layne for this gem.❤
The closest thing I can think of is PTX's Evolution of Music a decade ago, which includes a *bit* of classical music pieces at the start, but yeah nowhere near close
If you go back to 1981 with “Hooked on Classics” you can find similar types of arrangements. The album made it to many international Top20 music lists and was nominated in ‘81 for best pop instrumental performance (single) and ‘82 (album).
I like how Geoff's character just rolls with the flow and just generally shows mild annoyance when the others are trying to pull one over on each other. He's just there for the vibes.

I just want to be a fly on the wall for Layne's pitch for this idea... "So... hey guys... let's do a classical medley! We can dress up as dark creatures and conjure chaotic magic around a spooky campfire." "Yeah, sure. Let's call Rachel." It's brilliant. Bravo y'all!
Herding cats. LMAO. Poor witch is herding cats. As the owner of four adults and foster to two kittens, I know this frustration. The title says it all… Classical Chaos. This is spectacular! The sheer creativity here is outstanding! But I mean, what else do you expect from VoicePlay at this point… Bravo guys!!
What a treat! Just incredible. Strangely enough - I didn't recognize Rachel and went to the credits to make sure that was she! Just sat here with this silly grin ear-to-ear for VoicePlay giving us Part 2 of classical music. Lord, it is great to have access to this! Thank you, thank all of you! I listened to Layne (and his family) giving his daughter on her 4th birthday tips on how to sing Evil Like Me.
I recognized her voice easily, but yeah, the make-up was pretty thorough on this one. Almost made her look more like Elizabeth, albeit, sans the horns.
Rachel's final "Ta da!" sent me into giggles. This whole performance was a masterpiece. So very creative! And probably the first (and likely last) time I've heard the CanCan done in minor key! GREAT stuff!
Okay, this needs to be a movie or TV show like NOW! Never before has something so classical been so new! So great to have the lovely Rachel back, looking just Maleficent! Er, I mean magnificent! No wait, I mean both! I'm so going to enjoy rewatching this over and over. So much to love! Cesar's voice changes, Rachel looking dark and dramatic and gorgeous. all the physical and makeup effects, and of course the Wilhelm Scream! A true masterpiece!

One of the beauty of VoicePlay and your arrangements is that you guys make great use of each others' particular talents and voices seamlessly. Just wanted to add Cesars ears absolutely crack me up with their wobble everytime, they are so oversized! Life is to short not to notice the little things😂
So many little favorite bits! I especially love the way 2001 blends into the Can Can. I doubt I would ever have noticed the similarity between the songs on my own! I also get a kick out of Cesar making ‘motorboat’ sounds during Blue Danube. How appropriate! And I find Layne’s trilling giggle purr during that song to be so CUTE! I also love the growling start by Eli - so right for a Grundel and completely unexpected for a classical song - especially one that begins with the conductor’s baton tap.
Wow! Words are inadequate to describe the talent of these guys. The make up, the vocals, the scenery, the lighting, the whole theatrical display.......breathtaking 'Classic Chaos' ! Geoff .......be still my beating heart 😅 Amazing 🎉❤ I had to share with everyone I know.
I first heard of Rachel when she did Phantom with the boys a few years back. So happy every time she shows up again! Oh, and Voiceplay is pretty good too.😜
Random cool detail noticed after dozens of watches: the fire and smoke change color to match whichever character has the book. Including orange flames with a hint of green at the top....
Lol i know it's been 3 months I thought I'd commented when it came out but I love this song. The humor in it, everything I've went and got the shirt to match. Love u guys keep up the great work
I've watched this at least a dozen times, finding new things each time. It's all so clever, and the character voices are superb. Rachel's voice is AMAZING! as clear as a bell! It certainly sets her apart from the other voices. I'm wondering if Cesar can really sing as low and as high as he did when he stole Geoff's and Rachel's voices.
Your amazing talent makes it so easy to encourage my grandson to enjoy all music. You can now add a 7 year old to your fan list (as well as his nan) 😁💕
lol. the demon children vibe is very funny. ughhhhh -- Carmen's Habanera? How could I love your singing anymore? That's my FAVORITE opera! The opera that made me love opera.
Layne, you sir, are an Acapella Pied Piper, methodical in your musical ways. Your spelling may have been incidental, but your humor is always on key. Signature to you is your talent, of making music more fun. Sneaky you are for Haydn that page, just for the pun. In the end, spelling is key, which I'll agree you pulled off quite masterfully.....thank you now I'm rhyming, with a timing I can't quite stop, but I hope you enjoyed this puntastic poem, for it's a new achievement unlocked.
VoicePlay nails it once again! I loaded up “Hall of the Mountain King” on a second device so I could check out the makeup and costume comparisons and, aside from the horn color change to Layne to turn him into a giant carrot, the vast majority of the work is identical to the older video. Cesar’s ear whorls are slightly different, and his forehead horns have a visible spiral that was only hinted at before. I think Eli’s tunic is not the same. Other than that, the makeup team did a spectacular job of duplicating the Grundels in toto. I love every one of these people when they are front and center, but I’m developing a special fondness for Cesar’s habit of totally immersing himself into the character he’s performing. He’s just a blast to watch. It took me a few views to fully begin to understand the actual storyline of the video. You get so caught up in the music that it takes a while to see some of the interplay between the players. I couldn’t understand at first why Rachel looked so annoyed, but then the way the book became part of a game of “keep away,” plus some of the more mischievous expressions, and Cesar “borrowing” Geoph’s and then Rachel’s voice… and the adorable romantic attempt from Layne… 😍 So good!
I'm very certain this is pretty much how Layne's brain looks; chaotic but of undeniable brilliance and genius - masterfully arranged and performed!

I do so love the beautiful way they interweave songs into medleys!
Everytime I watched Rachelle performs with VoicePlay it's like out of this world experience.. I always enjoy it and feels at ease ..
Oh my gosh! I love this!! It’s Acapella-style “Hooked On Classics” as only VoicePlay can do it! Outstanding!!!
I have watched numerous times now, and it still makes me smile and have a good time. Thank you!
I believe this one sets a new record for how many distinct playlists I immediately added a video to.
Wow! Words are inadequate to describe the talent of these guys. The make up, the vocals, the scenery, the lighting, the whole theatrical display.......breathtaking 'Classic Chaos' ! Geoff .......be still my beating heart 😅 Amazing 🎉❤
I had to share with everyone I know.
You know, this is the kind of thing I live for... notification of a new VoicePlay video!! 🤯😍
A perfect metaphor for the pure magic that you do every time, all the time. Bravissimo! ❤❤❤❤❤
Beautiful!! I so love the Grundels. Thanks VP.
Lol i know it's been 3 months I thought I'd commented when it came out but I love this song. The humor in it, everything
I've went and got the shirt to match. Love u guys keep up the great work
I love that you're still collaborating with Rachel. Your first video together was 11 years ago!
That was really cool the way you melded all of those Classical pieces together! I LOVED it!! ❤️❤️😽
While Cesar's got an impressive range, those bits you mention were actually Layne and Rachel.
Your amazing talent makes it so easy to encourage my grandson to enjoy all music. You can now add a 7 year old to your fan list (as well as his nan) 😁💕
so love when you guys go the classical rout!!!
lol. the demon children vibe is very funny.
ughhhhh -- Carmen's Habanera?
YESSSSSS!!!!!I wanted it to go on forever! Please never stop making music, any of you!❤
The first time hearing and seeing Voice Play like this.....I LOVE IT!! ❤❤
I couldn’t understand at first why Rachel looked so annoyed, but then the way the book became part of a game of “keep away,” plus some of the more mischievous expressions, and Cesar “borrowing” Geoph’s and then Rachel’s voice… and the adorable romantic attempt from Layne… 😍
So good!
I think it was actually Eli that cast a love spell on unsuspecting Layne and Rachel 😂
What a brilliant Chaos ... and ... I love Rachels Voice ... 🥰
I love the story line that goes with the music... Layne is hilarious. Can't wait to hear more from the grundles!
LOVE LOVE LOVE!! As usual, they are all phenomenal. But Layne!! How can anyone from this earth do that??? Brilliant.
And once again, you prove that VoicePlay is the best acapella group in the world. Great job!
A combination of two of my favourite things, classical music and Voiceplay! Yum!!
FANTASTIC job on EVERYTHING!
An amazing way to introduce classical music to our kids ❤
This is greatness!! Reminds me of "Hooked on Classics" from the '80s!! Well done guys, and gal! Keep on keepin' on, y'all! Bravo!
Standing ovation and loud applause! ❤
The sass that Rachel brought was the best.
💖🎹totally LOVE this version of all the best classical music & musicians🎼🎻
I'm glad I'm not the only one who fancies listening to my Halloween playlist in Summer.
