- REBIRTH IS SO SOON! It's really just around the corner. I know this video is going up late as Rebirth is just two days away (!!!!) but I wanted to put up some final thoughts and predictions! I plan to revisit this video after I finish my playthrough and look back at what I got right or wrong!

Theory-wise I think I’m falling on the side of “lifestream” rather than separate timeline/reality. I think they’ll firm up the lifestream-lore to explain how Kyrie, Elmyra, Marlene etc can be there. I think this will correlate best to the dev statements about them not making major changes to the OG storyline. I’m expecting Aerith’s fate to be the same and then we’ll see what we never saw in the OG - what she was up to in the lifestream between the forgotten capital and the end of the game. The core (Cloud) story would largely be the same but you’re now seeing new stuff that the devs will say always happened but before it happened offscreen.
It could be the multiple realities theory though. Can’t dismiss that. Just think lifestream is more likely.
Party-wise, my OG go-to party was Cloud/Aerith/Tifa but because the fight mechanics are so much more nuanced I might go with Cloud (Brawler), Aerith (Magic) and Barret (Range damage). Or I may just rotate 😂
Ooh that's a very interesting thought! I'd love for it to be a view of the lifestream and not another reality/timeline. I think that would be incredibly cool to see. Can't wait to find out what happens!
I believe theres an approval system in the game which helps sway who you get to go on a date with at the Gold Saucer. So it may limit your options to just the party members.

I'm leaning towards the lifestream/afterlife theory that you mentioned personally. I feel that having parallel worlds might be in danger of losing some of the dramatic tension (i.e. if this world is destroyed/saved then why does it matter if another world is saved/under threat). Also I think it is quite a risk to make a trilogy of games (people drop off after each game) so if they were able to change it to make it a smaller project then I think they would (or maybe I am just too risk-averse 😅).
I was surprised they are ending it at the point that they said in interviews a while back (keeping it vague in case you are avoiding that information), I would have ended it a just a bit later 🤔maybe that is evidence in favour of changes after all?
Either way, the reviews are complaining about the story having to be put on hold for incomprehensible mini-games so they are staying true to the original in some ways!🤣
I'm nervous for this given what Marlene tells Zack about Aerith. But I also can't wait to see!
My own theory, based on what I know and literary experience is:
Yes, Sephiroth seems to be aware of what happened before, Aerith seems to be too if unconsciously. The actions of the Whispers confirm in a way. However, I see it that Aerith's death was the final driving straw for Cloud. So Sephiroth killing her again will lead again to his defeat. Likewise Tifa if that happens instead.
So if we're in new territory now, it could be that none of them except Sephiroth needs to die.
On the flip side, I can't shake the Men in Black 3 quote. "Where there is death, there must always *be* death."

Aerith wasn't Cloud's final straw, Tifa not being able to confirm his identity was the final straw.
Aerith represents grief and regret in Cloud, a loss that he doesn't get to mourn until Elmyra sends him to put flowers in Aerith's church at the beginning of Advent Children, but she doesn't have an impact on his identity crisis, nor his character development.
It's more likely Aerith will die and Sephiroth is gonna try to gaslight Cloud into thinking he was the one who did it, but Cloud's final straw that'll break him will be at the Northern Crater as it has always been. Unfortunately we don't get to see that in this game.
I agree with most of what you said. The only thing I don’t see is why would sephiroth kill Aerith if he knows sending her to the life stream will be his undoing. I think he will come down and try to kill tifa but aerith knowing her fate will get in the middle of it and die herself. That would be her sacrifice.
Regarding Jessie, I honestly think it's the simplest explanation--the dancer just happens to look like her. It's not unheard of for people to look like other people--ESPECIALLY in cartoons/anime. It's also the only reason I can think of for showing that dancer and not making a bigger fuss over it.
Avoiding spoilers for this is gonna be rough! Playing yourself without TWITCH chat going on is the smart play.

Flaaaaaags! Great video and cool predictions. Not sure if you've looked at any Ever Crisis story content (specifically First Soldier), but would highly recommend it. Personally, I would love to see Glenn and how he fits into the story of Rebirth. I can't help but think he may have an impact on Sephiroth and Cloud, which is really cool to think about. Have fun with your playthrough!

I always felt cloud belongs with tifa. Mainly because i feel clouds feelings for aerith are not real because his memories are fused with Zack’s. So he has feelings for aerith and a need to protect aerith because those are Zack’s feelings for aerith.
I think Aerith will die in Rebirth and this will awaken the Aerith that's with Zack, the one that hands over the White Materia to Cloud. It will basically be the best of both worlds. Let's also not forget that Zack is still dead, which is why Cloud has the Buster Sword. The Zack that survived is essentially a 'variant'. Also the Remake trilogy will line up with Advent Children as been stated by the devs, so we know these characters have to be dead at some point.

When it comes to changes to the OG story. I think Jessie and Biggs are alive and well in this new timeline. To expand on your thought about Aerith not dying and Tifa being the one that dies. If this is what happens I think it will be tied to the relationship mechanic and depending on how you affect your relationship with the characters.
in the trailer cloud has the buster sword over head like OG FFVII, but suddenly lowers and turns the blade as to strike upward at something/someone.
Since cloud sees the future from time to time. He may just stall or stop that event from happening. probably with repercussions to boot.

Big agree with everything you said! I hadn't considered that Jessie is alive in a separate timeline and did die originally in the Part 1 of Remake, which honestly would make me feel better about the whole thing. So I hope your idea is true! I dislike the idea of replaying and feeling like her "death" is fake. A separate timeline Jessie makes that feel less cheap.

LEONA YEEEEES!!!! I can't wait to play it. I really do hope that death in this one feels real and permanent, which was such an important lesson in OG that meant a lot to me. So many people connected with that as it's something that everyone will go through eventually.
lol Cait Sith...Cait Sith. yes. Nothing I've seen from him in trailers has registered at all with me gameplay-wise, so I'm super curious to see what it's like. Maybe I'll like him in this one? They did it with Yuffie after all. Love her now!

I can't wait for Rebirth too as I just love these characters so much especially my boi Cloud who is just so adorable. I also hate the shipping wars even though I'm a Cloud/Tifa girl myself, but I also love Aerith too. I just think Tifa is a better match for Cloud, but I respect all ships apart from Cloud/Sephiroth!! I think my party member set up will be Cloud (Brawler), Tifa (Monk) and possibly Aerith (Healer) or Barret (long range and tank). Love your little streams and I'm so glad you have decided to stream without the live chat as this takes away any immersion you may have in the game as a player and also for the viewer!

This is long but I have a lot to say.
I'm of the opinion that what we're dealing with aren't timelines, but the game is gonna expand on the Lifestream lore and the limbo between the living and the dead, like what we can see in Advent Children with Zack and Aerith.
In OG we saw that the only mention of "time" shenanigans, is when Sephiroth says:
"I'm far superior to the Ancients, I became a traveler of the Lifestream and gained the wisdom and knowledge of the Ancients. I also gained the knowledge and wisdom of the ages that followed and soon I will create the future"
And then Aerith says:
"I won't let you do it! The future is not only yours!"
It really sounds like their banter at the end of Remake, so I think expanding the already existent plot is the actual developers' aim.
I also think they won't do shock value just for the sake of it, because if Tifa died for example, both her and Cloud's characters would lose meaning and purpose in the story. A tease would be acceptable.
The dialogue options, as said by the developers, don't affect romance, but friendship and the affection system isn't based on Cloud's feelings towards the characters, but on the characters' affection towards the player.
Each character will have a different dynamic with Cloud, so we won't be able to choose the same options for everyone (like in OG).
Even in the original, people liked to called them "romance" options, but we're just spending time with one of the characters to get to know more about each of them individually.
Let's remember Barret is a father figure to Cloud, Yuffie is a minor and almost like a little sister to him and they are both included in the date mechanics (I think the devs said there will be surprise characters...in the sense of additional options like Red for example, but I'm not too sure).
Actually not even Aerith and Tifa's dates were romantic in nature in OG and what we're gonna choose is still limited by what Cloud feels in canon for each character.
Jessie won't be an option either, I think she'll just be a projection at Gold Saucer that you get to see on a date with a specific character...probably Barret, it would make sense.
Now to the "heavy" stuff, shipping... (I'm gonna put it in the replies)
About the shipping wars, I have to say they shouldn't even exist. It's been 27 years and we all know that Cloud loves Tifa, not out of player preference, but because of plot.
Both girls are great, true, but that doesn't imply Aerith should be a romantic interest for Cloud...because she never was meant to be that in the first place.
It's kind of a contraddiction how people say "don't pit the girls against each other", when they don't do anything but push both of them onto Cloud for no reason with this messed up "both girls are good" ethic... lol, both are good for the player, not for Cloud.
He has never loved mutiple girls and the shipping wars aren't his fault.
FF7 isn't one of those games where you can choose who to romance, despite it gives you the opportunity, for replayability value, to get to know one character of choice in each playthrough, for something momentary that doesn't actually impact the story (as I believe you mentioned), or Cloud's feelings.
Aerith is a dear friend for him and it's tiring to see people romanticize their relationship, with that toxic "neutral" mindset, which only does a disservice to the characters as individuals.
Cody, Cloud's VA, mentioned the same thing on Twitter, after posting a CloudxTifa famous meme and being harassed by CloudxAerith fans.
He replied to them:
"Shippers crumble under the idea that a character can have significant relationships with multiple characters which would provide overarching depth. The need to overtly sexualize every relationship can ruin great story development".
The problem isn't people pitting the girls against each other for the main character... it's about people not recognizing Cloud's actual feelings, projecting their own standards on him and feeling entitled to choose for him when they can't.
One as a player, can love Aerith or Tifa more, but we don't represent Cloud and we don't have agency over his feelings. He's an individual, with wants and needs of his own.
Nuances also seem to be lost on people, because infact they're too busy indirectly pitting the girls against each other, creating this uncomfortable, tense and unexisted dilemma that people would avoid if they only learned to listen to Cloud's genuine interactions with the characters and didn't think of him as the harem protagonist he most definitely isn't.
Shipping wars aren't all shippers' fault...they're the neutrals' fault for trying to push their own headcanons on Cloud and self inserting.
It's like the Advent Children situation all over again, with people saying Cloud is emo and doesn't care about his family, when infact they never cared to understand that the man has gone through enough already, but now he's even about to die of Geostigma and left his family for a single week, to find a cure for his adoptive son's (Denzel) Geostigma.
It's all projection of people who can't function without pushing their own ideas on the already affirmed and linear story.
People don't understand what "illusion of choice" means.
It doesn't mean you choose to romance a character as Cloud and that in the end he will switch to his canon romance... It means that the character you thought you were romancing, is none other than your preference as a player (not Cloud's), while the endgame has always been Cloud's real love.
