Hello Julie, I think you are totally amazing. Thanks to you. I am on my third hexagon quilt. You might Say I am addicted. I have tried a half inch hexagons. Too small for me. I do all 1 inch and I love it when I finish my quilt, I’m working on now. I am going to try the quilt as you go. Thank you so much for all the help you have been to me and I admire you so much. I think you’re a wonderful lady. You have a great day and you’re in my thoughts always. Joan from Tennessee USA may God bless you bye
Hi Joan. Thank you so much for the wonderful comment. I have done a 1 inch hexagon quilt. It was the first epp quilt I did and I then went from there to 3/4 inch to half inch. I have looked at videos of quilt as you go and thought about making a quilt using that technique but have decided to stick with what I know. I would love to know how you find the process and feel free to email me with any quilt pictures etc. All the best. Julie
I'm late to the sew and chat this week - but finally got a listen. So happy to hear that you have food security - that's important. Not sure what it's like where you live, but where I am periodic shortages still happen. I'll miss hearing from you next week!
Thanks Lynne. We still have shortages but I think they are due to weather related things so it is mainly frozen vegetables and potatoes that are short of stock regularly. I will be back the following week as I have been working on the diamond quilt.
I just finished the piecing on my quilted postage stamp pillow. Now to remove the papers and make my quilt sandwich. I haven’t decided if I’m going to hand quilt or machine sew this part. I’m kind of antsy to move on to something new. Loving the yellow. For my next paper piecing it’s either a bee quilt in hexies or another pillow. Happy sewing. :)
Love watching your videos, I especially like your underwater quilt. 😊 How did you come up with the ocean creatures to make them as hexagon pictures? Would you have a problem with others copying what you do? I know I would. Have a great day.
I have a booklet that had a lot of them in it and others I made up myself. I think that as soon as you put something online that it will get copied and I accept that as I have copied parts of quilt designs myself in the past.
Finally catching up on your videos as I remove last (edge) papers from my quilt in preparation of making my first quilt sandwich (wish me luck!) Anyway, nice mug, I think that "What, like it's hard?" may be a quote from a movie? Legally blonde maybe? Idk I never seen it, just saw some gifs, haha
So nice to see you on another video...was wondering, you have the cutest mouse pincushion which appears every so often on the videos... did you make him?
Thank you Laura. I actually have 2 mouse pincushions. The one in this video is the oldest and I cut the tail off it years ago as it was annoying because when covering hexagons you are constantly putting the needle in and out of it. My newer one is with my bits and pieces for the underwater quilt and it still has a tail. I didn't make them but bought them from my local fabric shop which often has unusual and cute pincushions.

All the best with making your quilt 'sandwich' and then the quilting. I find the quilting to be the easiest part of the whole process.
