Oh Capt,My Captain, you are the best drone/ flying device reviewer in all of the wired world. I enjoy your sense of humor, your Canadian wit. But it is your vast storage of photography, videography and flying knowledge I enjoy. Thanks for a great channel, thanks for honest reviews. Wow, you purchased the Cine- it was not provided by DJI, Respect!!
Refreshing. People are saying this is the best M3 review. Pardon me, but this is the best review of anything, on all of youtube, maybe the Internet. I dont remember the last time I heard a "reviewer," offer critical analysis more than a rare, single utterance, quickly swept away by continued gushing praise. Liked/subbed, to show my gratitude. Nice work.
I truly appreciate your honesty, the initial videos released from others makes me question why they're still on my subscription list. Thank you sir. I hope you had a wonder Christmas with your family.
I'm amazed every single time I see night shots from the Mavic 3! I know the drone has some spots it needs to improve on but one thing DJI got tremendously right on the Mavic 3 is its low-light shooting capabilities!
That is due to the Haselblad imaging software. As noted in my review there should be plenty of image noise due to the average quality lens and aperture, however the image goes into the Haselblad image correction software that makes up for the limitations of the lens. You can literally film with auto settings on at night and still get good results.
I watch a stack of drone reviews. Love them all. However, when I watch the captain's reviews, I learn like I'm a newbie. I also feel the honesty shine through. There's no salesman here. He just tells it like it is. That's really appreciated! Thank You Captain. Happy New Year!
Thank you for the most honest review I have seen of the Mavic 3, it seems to be aimed only at RUclipsrs who's income is the footage they produce more than any form of commercial application. To be honest we had ruled it out anyway as could not really see a need for it for our work, we mainly do inspections and housing shoots, so the Evo2 640T we have does everything we would use an M3 for plus thermal.
Thanks Captain, you always tell what others do not when they review DJI, they only tell what you want to hear, it's a good thing you always tell the good and bad which is far more better than telling only what is good. Great job! Keep doing this. Bless you.
Captain drone is one of the best reviewer in youtube, thanks a lot for all the drone info, I'm about to get myself a dji mini se because of your review, just holding back for a couple of months spent a lot already this Christmas.
Great video and I have had the CIne for 2 weeks, however now it needs RC Calibration and after following the instructions it does not say success. Nowhere can I find any further info on calibrating the RC when it fails to calibrate. Rather frustrating as the shop I got it from is shut. None of the videos I watch helps with this and they fail to show the likes of how to film in Pro Res?
Your no nonsense review of this drone is appreciated, Captain Drone 👍I've seen many other reviews of the Mavic 3 online, and this one is one of the best, and unbiased. Some people who can afford to buy the Mavic 3 (any version of it) will not, at least not right now; it is a nice drone will some great attributes, but it has its weaknesses. Also, shipping it with features lacking (and having customers waiting for the firmware updates) wasn't the best move on DJI's part. Regardless, a consumer must feel confident about a major purchase, and many potential buyers of the Mavic 3 don't feel confident spending $2,300 (that's with taxes) and even more for it (the other versions). DJI missed an opportunity to win more customers (and even keep some loyal ones). If DJI cuts the price of the base model and gets the firmware up to snuff, it may get some of those customers back. ✨
@@Quickcat21MK Easy… they drop the price by creating different packages. This means you will be able to get the Cine as a base model vice premium combo. DJI is the king of marketing and when something doesn’t sell well, they simply change things up.
Nice review Steve. To bad you had to freeze your what ever off to do this in the winter. Glad you spent some time with it first to get a feel for it before you made this video. Have a Merry Christmas
One of the best reviews, if you pay for the drone you can objectively criticize everything without doing a DJI commercial. "So many sets of props that you could keep flying this drone into the next century" 👌🏻😁😁 Merry Christmas Captain, all your family!!
Of course there's the good and the bad about the DJI Mavic 3 Cine but either way, I really do appreciate the level of innovation that are now becoming accessible for us now! When you have a high-tech piece of equipment in your hands it's kinda improssible not to be awestruck by it!
One or two more things. At $5k or even 3k you would think that a removable gimbal and interchangeable lenses would be part of this drones design. At $3000 for the fly more combo or even $2200 for the basic kit, they would’ve produced a more sophisticated basic controller not dissimilar to the one they include with the Mavic 2 which included many of the same buttons and data readout as included on the smart controllers. While the M3 has several upgrades, it also includes some downgrades as well.
for a first drone the Dji Mimi SE was under the tree; it is just right for me and I'll work my way up. I'm still focused on the Splash Drone 4 Swellpro Waterproof Fishing Drone Fishing Bundle for my second drone .... Merry Christmas
Great in-depth review chap and just what I needed. I like to dabble in the high end of Photography without being professional and was considering the Cine rather than the Combo which just has a controller I already have. The price difference is a concern but the fact they released it without including some of the advertised features concerns me somewhat. Back to the drawing board!
Love the feedback details you put into this video. I wanted the regular versions until I saw the cinema. I was considered the skydio 2 they have the best tracking
that filming at night was very impressive indeed! i wont ever buy this drone (way outside of my price range) but i would kill for that kind of night video.
Awesome review, one of the best and more honest I've seen on the Mavic 3. I'm an AIR 2S flyer and the feature I miss the most is the flying time, which the M3 offers. I wish that the M3 had a single camera (not a dual one), weighing less, flying even more and so being less expensive. The RC Pro screen is so small, even my iPhone 12 screen is larger. The Cine version is way much overspiced, even the Fly more is - it makes more sense to get the simple M3 + 2 batteries + multi-charger. I'll wait for the Mavic 3S, before jumping for it. Thank you for taking the time to make a such good review and Merry Christmas.
I agree about the price. Designed for the cork sniffer. I’ve had two DJI drones, I won’t be purchasing the M3, in fact, I will no longer be a DJI customer, there are other companies with comparable products at realistic prices. The M3 Fly-More is a $2k drone with a $3k price tag, and there are better “pro” drones than the M3 CINE.
@@onefingerproduction3180 DJI themselves have better Pro drones if it is “Pro” that you are looking for. Autel has just come out with some really nice consumer drones, in fact their NANO series has more features than the DJI mini does. I think Autel is the company that will take on DJI. If Autel is smart they will price the drones correctly and end DJI’s reign if price is a concern. Of course it really depends on what the drone will be used for, if sports and follow are the main need then Skydio is the best on the market. Captain Drone has some great reviews on pretty much every drone out there!
I was waiting for you to say that the Evolve 2 would be a better option. One thing I noticed more with DJI is they try to pack camera & special shot features into their drones, charge a hearty price for it, but then limit the special feature use due to the lack of processing power. As an engineer I really appreciate the effort to balance performance and cost, but it's bordering dishonest to market it with great features and not note their limitations in some way. The only way to find that out is to buy it and fly it. I bought an Air2S with RC pro, but even though I loved it the limitations of features across all settings is disappointing. I took it back after a week and will stick with my Evo II for now.
Based on reviews and other RUclips videos, not ownership, the Evolve 2 Is a much better choice for camera and price, however in my opinion, it is not close to an equal drone. It might get there one day, but not yet. Also, it is limited in carrying capacity as it will not carry a decent telephoto lens. Fact is, a great drone with a great camera capacity is going to cost in the 10k plus range.
One of the better M3 reviews yet, would have liked a bit more rundown of features not delivered, what has been now delivered with firmware updates and what has yet to be released and what may need fixes yet...You know the beta tester speak :). However you really covered the camera in depth, and that is appreciated! I also liked that it was a longer term with review, not just I got it yesterday and flew it in my backyard.
Thank you. Not much is missing in features as the last firmware update added most of the missing features. Still to come are enhancements to the RC Pro controller display, a few autonomous flight modes (like quick shots) and photo additions (pano, etc). Also a wide angle lens is coming for purchase as well as a dongle that lets the drone fly by cell towers vice ocusync (but not in all countries)
2 years later, might seem like a excellent drone considering you can get a like new used one for 2.5k which is half of the rrp 2 years ago, what do you think ?
Really enjoyed the review even though I'm a noob with a mini 2 since June. If I was going to go for a pro level I'd be looking at that one you reviewed with the ground station and 4:3 camera although I'd have to learn all the camera stuff to get the benefits of it.

Thank you for your honesty always!! When you were showing how bad the zoom was I wasn’t sure if you were trying to land a plane or you had to go to the bathroom really bad. 😂 LoL. Great review and happy holidays!!!
Merry Christmas to Capitan Drone and the Drone family! As much as I would love to find one under the Christmas tree, I can't see spending that much. The main camera in low light or poor lighting is fantastic. I am not a pro, and I can't justify it. I think bottom line, unless you are in a specific situation like low light or really need the side sensors there are other DJI drones at a much lower cost that will meet most of the needs for us. There are even non DJI drones at a fraction of the cost which have things like waypoints, which is useful, and will give DJI a run for it's money.
The "Real" Mavic 3 review! 👍 Give us a drone headcount video. I see your specimen cases and since I have watched from almost the start of your Channel I know you got more drones all over the place. Maybe a contest. My guess is 190 specimens.
I want the Mavic 3 Cine because of the 1 TB storage and the RC Pro Remote plus all the extras also. But I will never use the Pro ReZ at all but I want it for trips overseas to get great night shots and long distances up mountains. Would this be a great choice for me or just overkill. I have the Air 2S already along with the DJI FPV complete package with everything available for it plus the backpack by DJI. I want your opinion because I trust your thoughts. Thank you.
❤️ Night and day difference between your transparent and honest reviews vs the usual reviewers who seem to overlook the critical stuff. This is why I simply do not buy a drone until I've watched your review. Thank you
Thanks for the video. I just started my RUclips camping channel here in Ottawa this past summer and I use the Mini 2 for my footage, mainly because it is small and light which is perfect for camping. I'm a full time television producer so I will eventually upgrade to something like the Mavic 3 Cine. And yes I shoot at 24fps 😂
I have had one for about a month. As a photographer for several decades, I would never use digital zoom for my real work, DC, DSLR,MILC all included. I shoot with Nikon D5, Sony A7, Nikon Z6 and Z7 and occasionally the APC-S Z50. Digital zoom is handy if you need it to zoom in for some details. Then, you fly closer to ge5 the real details.
Agree. I’ve never seen a professional DSLR or Mirrorless camera with a massive digital zoom. That only exists in the Camcorder cameras to extend the optical zoom.
You said it had a relatively cheap lens like a cellphone. I thought it had a hasselblad lens? Of course, there's a limit on how big a lens can be on a drone like this.
I don’t believe either sensor is made by Haselblad. Probably just Sony sensors. DJI owns Haselblad so they like to put the name on products to sell units. I believe only the camera software is Haselblad.
Another good review Captain! I was quite interested in your thoughts regarding the Mavic 3 given the price and hype, and was not disappointed with the review. Before, the Mavic 3, which drone did you often use for professional work?
Promising is a word I could describe for this drone! The power and the potential is all there, it just needs a bit of polishing up I guess! The updates are coming fast from what I could tell!
I am not a professional but was seriously considering getting the Mavic 3 but in the end could not justify it. I got a Mavic 2 zoom and am very happy with it and over £1000 better off. I imagined it would be a good drone for a professional with the better camera it seems it is not quite there yet. Interesting drone non the less maybe future editions will iron out some problems. Next year a lot of us in Europe will be looking for a "C" marked drone because of the change in regulations wonder if this will be re-released with the markings (and ID software changes)?
I am not a professional either, but I wanted great obstacle avoidance, and very good pictures and video right out of the camera with minimal editing, and for 3k, I am quite satisfied. I have the Air 2 and it is great for what it is, a basic drone for a good price if you can keep from crashing it and don't mind editing.
Honestly I'll keep my air 2s for now. There is not enough of a upgrade to justify the massive price difference. Also the hassle bad brand made huge cameras think dji just poached the name or own the name
Hi Steve I have this Air2S I am curious if the settings stay the same if I change the battery or turn the controller of and on again or do I have to rest all the settings every time I take a new flight?

I believe The only thing hasselblad is the camera software. DJI owns hasselblad so they can use the name as they wish.
I am not a proffesioner, all i can say is WOW. 😳
Merry christmas!!
:D
Merry Christmas
This is amazing
Happy Holidays Capt D!!! So is Mavic 3 sensor better than M2 Pro 1" Hass Sensor???
I don’t believe either sensor is made by Haselblad. Probably just Sony sensors. DJI owns Haselblad so they like to put the name on products to sell units. I believe only the camera software is Haselblad.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 it's Hassy camera Lens. Can you tell any differences?
@@sparkcone Hasselblad does not make tiny cell phone/action camera lenses.
Lindo drone
Another good review Captain! I was quite interested in your thoughts regarding the Mavic 3 given the price and hype, and was not disappointed with the review. Before, the Mavic 3, which drone did you often use for professional work?
The DJI Inspire 2
Promising is a word I could describe for this drone! The power and the potential is all there, it just needs a bit of polishing up I guess! The updates are coming fast from what I could tell!
DJI promise it will be expensive
Waaoooawww😍😁😁😁 mavic 3
I can’t spend that much money when the Mavic 2 is still good for the price.
well now we will have Mavic 3 vs Autel evo 2 pro in your non-professional comparison yes. for video mode
Well if I had just spent that amount of money on a drone I would be pretty upset. Merry Xmas Cap.
Dji most likely push out an Mavic 3 pro next year, that got some added feature and fix some of mavic 3 launch problems.
Correct, DJI owns the camera company so they use the name as they wish to the detriment of the Hasslblad brand.
Hi Steve
I have this Air2S
I am curious if the settings stay the same if I change the battery or turn the controller of and on again or do I have to rest all the settings every time I take a new flight?
Settings should remain between each flight
