***Note: I was told during my first review unit, that initial testing the 15km range was based off the RC PRO remote. This may have been updated to now be available with both Standard and RC Pro Remotes which is great news.
It would be at least good, considering everything they took off from the standard version, if they let some things as you suggested on your video as a bonus to the fly more version. It's really annoying that they didn't took care even of the color of the standard RC. Really a shame such kind of "economy decision".
It is! According to the online specs and the user manual the M3's version of the RC-N1 is 15km capable. I'm looking forward to a video as I seriously doubt that I will ever get mine anywhere close to 9 miles and never pushed my M2 more than 2.
That range us questionable using the RC N1 Controller. It's Occusync 2.0. RC N1 Specs on DJI Site. That controller re-hash is my biggest disappointment in the M3. Well, and that the RC Pro isn't bundled with anything but Cine. I bought 2 controllers, one I will never use, because 03+ is aircraft only as they sell it. Some O3+ protocols are utilized, but limited. Come on DJI!

I would have liked to see a 5D button on the Mavic 3 Classic as with cruse control & tilt & Zoom, these functions take up the C1, C2 & wheels @ top. It is nice to be able to control exposure while shooting video.
At 6:23 ...when the car goes across the bridge during your D-log grade wipe...can you tell me what the hell is happening with the color on the concrete. Great info thanks. Swiping on the screen to move the camera is brilliant on skydio 2. The drone Will just yaw when the gimbal reaches its limit, it works really smoothly. It’s a gd feature.
good video as always. I think the obstacle avoidance is underrated and as people try it out some more esp. after the Jan software release, we'll come to appreciate it. I think it gives more confidence that the drone can get home if needed. What was that green tinge of color going across the street behind the car at 6:22? I've personally never liked DJI's color science, even their D-Log. I've always found it too difficult and annoying to grade. It would always be too green or too magenta at certain parts of the image or have artifacts that I just mentioned and the Mavic 3/Cine seems to be no different in that department which is unfortunate. I hope they fix this in the Jan update.
Another awesome excellent video. I should receive my Mavic 3 next week. It was a pleasure meeting you at SpinUp. I was lucky enough to get one of your bags at SpinUp. Love your little Mini Bag. Thank you.
Can you tell me what the largest sd card that can be used on the basics Mavic 3 with the 8 gig internal? Iv not seen anything that gives that information. Thank You,
This is great . Thanks for the info . Yes Aldryn I said the same thing about the controller would of been nice to match the color. It was awesome to hangin with ya at Spinup bud.🤘🏻
Just got my mavic 3. It's hard to turn phone on/off, when it is connected to the controller. You have to pull the phone away from the controller to push button.
User control of gimbal pan & tilt MP2, MA2 and A2S had a mechanical range of 100° -controllable range of 90° - On the Mavic 3, due to the size and mass of the camera, panning mechanical range is: -27° to 27° The controllable amount is a tiny portion of that: -5° to 5° -interesting that the indicator bar is the full 27° -perhaps they can open it up more. We won't get 90° though. As to color mode on Log recording. It's called "Color Display Assist" - DJI Academy video explains it, obviously another "Coming Soon" feature. To grab SD Card, remove the battery first. Easy peasy.
I was wondering if you tried the dual controller mode like used on the Mavic 2 Pro now that you have two controllers that work with the Mavic 3. Thanks for all the Mavic 3 info.
Great information, and thanks for sharing the details that many don't talk about in their videos. There are some surprises in the details. Thanks for sharing.
Getting files out Mavic 3 Cine via thunderbolt cable is 6x faster then via Micro SD card. Which is really good time saver trying to see the videos in the field.
I just bought the Mavic 3 and had my 2nd flight this morning, it flew beautifully but needed the calibration done which I did after my first flight. I should have done that first thing. I also have the Air 2S and I think I will be keeping that as it is lot lighter if I am carting other camera equipment around as well. First flight I used the fly more combo bag as over the shoulder but really noticed the heavy weight which also includes the Tripltek 8" Pro tablet which fits neatly in the bag as well but adds to the weight. 2nd flight I changed to the backpack style and found that much easier weight wise especially for walking to your destination.
Thank you for the great video. I have a stupid question. If I were to capture prores, edit on the timeline and export my edit from final cut as H265, would I lose the whole benefit of having prores in the first place? Does the extra quality in prores remain even though the final project is in H265? Meaning the whole benefit of prores is the extra editing power but not the quality in the end? Thanks again. I thought this question on another video and I thought it was a great question but it was never answered. I realize you said normal color looks great, and I agree. I also know it’s 10-bit even in normal color when working with Prores. Thanks again man, great stuff.
love your vids as always... as far as the mico sd card and ease of use... if you take the battery out first you can access the sd card faster and easier, especially taking it out.....hope that helps
I noticed the front LEDs are constantly flashing red and green while in flight. Why is that? all of my previous MAVICs were solid red while in-flight. Any particular reason?
Spectacularly informative - thanks so much. So many questions I was already wondering about answered here, all convincing me the CINE version is the only real way to properly experience Mavic 3.
OcuSync 2.0 vs. 03+. For the Mavic 3 controller, is 03+ only available if using the RC-Pro controller vs. the RC-N1 controller? On page 40 of the Mavic 3 manual, it states that "the remote controller uses OcuSync 2.0". Thus, if using the RC-N1 controller with the Mavic 3, will this reduce the maximum video transmission range (under perfect conditions)?
Correction the normal controller operates using O3+ with the M3 and will got to O2 with dji mini The info can be found at the bottom of dji M3 specs. Range is 15km + with RCN1 and pro but the pro may do it at lower height due to signal power being able to penetrate objects better then N1
Can you still update the MA3 firmware with the smart controller just like the basic controller with our phone would? And whats the range with the basic controller if only the smart controller can allow up to 15km?
Without autonomous waypoint, it's a deal breaker for me. I don't know how long I can hold on to old drones, but I need that function for my work. Can you recommend a drone for this purpose? I need something that can complete a mission even disconnected from the remote like the Mavic Pro.
OK, do I have this correct about the zoom function: the optical zoom is a fixed 7X, and if you want to use any other power of magnification, the drone switches to digital zoom even if it's less than 7X?
14:30 LOL what's up with the different colors? How about Mavic 3 printed on it? The smart controller is nice; it would be great if they can do a backward compatible to the Mini 2, Air 2 and 2S. I would buy the smart controller in a heart beat if they did that. Good one, Aldryn!
I lost my Yuneec Typhoon H+ with a back slider battery not locking in with a positive click. I flew it up and started going over water (my 2nd battery of the day). I flew full forward stick to where I was previously shooting from, and when I let the stick go, the drone tips back to stop and the battery slid out the back and the Typhoon followed soon after. Sadly there were no boats around to try to recover.
I was a little surprised how hard it was to get the uSD card out of the M3 when i started. Literally one time i was sturggling with it while i my truck and the card flew out and it took me 5 minutes to find it in the handle of my truck door. Then i realized they designed it to be inserted with the battery removed. Easy actually. Does it make sense for my workflow? I think it does actually as i can’t even think of a time i pulled or swapped cards where i wasn’t also swapping batteries. Comments?

14:30 "a lot of people asking if you get the same 15KM distance with the non-pro remote, no you don't ..." .... well ? what distance DO you get with the non-pro remote ? is it only a little less, or a LOT less ?? wtf, you can't just say "no" and not tell what you DO get !?
Question, Is the SSD drive only used for ProRes? If I forget the SDCard can I save the video recording as if there were a SDCard installed and download the footage?
Hello Aldryn. I was wondering if you are having issues with your Mavic 3 cine unit. I so far havent had any issues. A lot of people are having issues like jerky movements, a not straight horizon, bad connection etc.
Hi, what about the 4G dungle? I heard it’s not going to available in North America! I was interested by the drone in part because of it, now not sure anymore.
Is it worth investing 1,200 to get the smart controller for the basic fly more package? I don't need the ProRes or other options and may get the Tripltek 8 to use with the basic controller. You did answer the distance with the new controller, which is not a necessity for most of us.
I ordered one simply because my iPad mini doesn't seem to like the Arizona heat. I also like the idea of not having to mess around with getting the iPad all setup in the tablet holder, then into the controller. Maybe I'm just lazy... lol
@@yeahright2022 If I don't get the smart controller, I will get the Tripltek 8 which has 1200 nits of brightness compared to the smart controller's 1000 nits. However if the smart controller offers other needed benefits I will spring for it. I can't get or find any RUclipsr that will address that though, they just put a heart on my question.
@@vonheise I’ve had my RC pro for 2 days now and it’s honestly incredible. It’s certainly pricy but the convenience it affords is fantastic. No more setting up my iPad mount, installing it and having to worry about storing it.
Thanks for the great video, Aldrin. I'm still on the fence on the Mavic 3. When I got my Air 2s, I actually sold my Mavic 2 Pro because I liked the Air 2s so much and was never flying the Mavic 2 Pro anymore. I also have the Mini 2 for traveling light and stealth operations. I'm sure I will probably end up with a Mavic 3 at some point, but for now I'm having a little trouble justifying the cost.
The microSD card interface is just slow. There are no industry standards for the bit rates needed for pro-rez sadly. Maybe myk question is there are SDCards from 100MB/s to 170MB/s (or faster). What should we be using? And BTW density doesn’t change the write speed typically and if it did it would make the device slower not faster. :(
Congratulations on your work. It's a shame that this drone only has Gps in open places. DJI doesn't know when or if it will solve the GPS problem of this drone. I bought it and I can't almost use it in the city of São Paulo Brazil 🇧🇷
Awesome video always Aldrin...I am also glad that DJI went with the USB-C standard for charging the battery be it in the drone or charging hub. That was the main reason I've held off in getting the Air 2/2S since it has some kind of proprietary charger connector. Also it's good to see that the power supply is pretty small considering it puts out 65W I believe. Anker has a really really small 65W power supply that even smaller than the DJI one so if you really want to save on space there is that option
DJI are the 'Apple Wanabees' in regards to the memory capacity. It would have been such a low cost for DJI to upgrade the internal storage from 8 to 16gb (or even 32gb) especially with the high cost starting at £1879, but no... they're holding back, like what Apple do, who are also very stubborn. I'm actually really disappointed they never did this, when they placed a really high 1TB in the Cine version!
Great Video!, I couldn't help but to notice that your RC Pro Controller has a lanyard bracket attached to it, I currently purchased the GPC Case for the M3 with the RC Pro Controller Option (with the Flytpath discount of course :) ), but wasn't sure if the Lanyard Bracket they sell is compatible with the New Smart Controller, is this a question that you can answer for me, does the lanyard bracket from the original Smart Controller fit the New M3 Smart Controller. Jim W.
The smart controller bracket does not fit the same. The holes are a little off. I just hacked mine to fit with some shaving and drilling as u can tell it’s beat up. But GPC does sell a new one now for the rc pro I believe
Hello, AFAIK the basic Mavic 3 package is rated with same range as the package coming with CINE version with RC PRO. I was told Mavic 3 utilizes both simultaneously O2 for controls and 03 for video feedback (same as AIR 2S) Unfortunately DJI does not make this very clear... I'm trying to decide if I want to got with a tablet/mount setup for my standard N1 remote or get the DJI RC PRO. Is it 100% certain that you get more range with the RC PRO? if that's the case one has to decide between range or the bigger screen that a tablet offers. -thoughts?
The increased range is tied to OccuSync 3 and unfortunately the standard controller is only compatible with OccuSync 2 while the RC Pro is fully O3 compatible. Both the regular and CINE Mavis 3s can connect to the RC Pro and take advantage of that increased range, but you definitely need the more expensive controller for the full range.
Yup that’s my understanding as well but it’s not clearly stated on their website. The site simply shows 15km but does not specify with regular or RC Pro. Either way I had to add that disclaimer after the fact just in case.
***Note: I was told during my first review unit, that initial testing the 15km range was based off the RC PRO remote. This may have been updated to now be available with both Standard and RC Pro Remotes which is great news.

I have a question about your cases ...... If it can be shipped to INDIA at any address???? ☺️☺️☺️By the way love ur all vedios ❤️❤️❤️from 🇮🇳
Hi, what about the 4G dungle?
I have a mavic pro 2 smart Controller, can it be used with the mavic 3 ?
Thanks for the great video, Aldrin. I'm still on the fence on the Mavic 3. When I got my Air 2s, I actually sold my Mavic 2 Pro because I liked the Air 2s so much and was never flying the Mavic 2 Pro anymore. I also have the Mini 2 for traveling light and stealth operations.
I'm sure I will probably end up with a Mavic 3 at some point, but for now I'm having a little trouble justifying the cost.
Great info! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
I bought it and I can't almost use it in the city of São Paulo Brazil 🇧🇷
nice video, any idea if you will make the flytcase for the mavic 3 ?
Yes, soon
Thanks, this was really great information on the M3. Any word if they will add more ISO options in DLOG than just 400 and 800?
The drone does vertical photos or video?
Nice Drone DJI..
Totally agree
