I lived in Sudbury for many years. Went to high school at 😊 Composite taught by the most capable group of teachers I can imagine. Good to know we share experiences about two decades removed. We moved there in 1959.
High quality paper starts out in a pulp mill which turns raw wood into pulp sheets of fiber. These mats of pulp are then sent to a paper mill that puts the mats in to a beater room which the mats are combined with water and beaten into a white slurry that gets spread onto the wet end of a fourdrinier machine which forms dries and rolls up the paper of one large roll. 40' rolls I don't think so... More like 180" if i recall. The large rolls are converted into smaller rolls on what is called a winder or rewinder. These rolls come in various widths and shipped out.
I never had any idea how paper was made until I met Kevin...😂 Nice work!

When I was younger I worked where newspapers were printed. Ink got everywhere quite messy, to say the least. When you were in Chillicothe, Ohio, on Mother's Day weekend, there is a bicycle tour that passes through the city . Starting in Columbus, to Portmouths , Ohio and back again on Sunday. 210 miles round trip rain or shine the tour goes on . I rode the bicycle for seven years on this tour . Was fortunate to complete every one of the seven years I rode the tour . Best wishes & enjoy the channel.
Very interesting Kevin & Tanya. I too was in the printing industry. I took printing. I went to school from Haigh School thru College specializing in printing.. I went to RIT and earned a Printing Management Degree. I loved the printing industry. So sad to see it decline to its current state. I worked in it for many years and did everything from old letterpress operation right up to web printing. I was a production manager general manager for a very large printer. Then like you i workrd in other industries as th printing industry declined. Keep up the interesting videos and best of luck to you both.

Very interesting, you're back in my stopping grounds. I used to load either on Tuesday or Wednesday out of the GM plant, depending what kind of load I got out of the GM plant in Kansas City be safe. 🎉❤

I was a press operator in south Florida in the early nineties on web offset presses after I got out of the Navy.
I hauled a lot for RR Donnelly and Command Web Offset and of course Sonoco Products. Sonoco Products has thier own paper mills to make the paper they make the paper tubes from. We would bring paper tubes to P&G, Kimberly Clark and Marcal Paper and Glatfelter Paper. Yes, I'm well versed in trucking and paper production. Pretty cool

I drove for Schaffer many moons ago I think about 30 years ago and hauling candy for Hershey and M&M Mars was the best. I always got free samples from the shipping clerks when I asked for some and they told me don’t let the security guards at the guard shack see it or they will want some too! 😂
