IG was my main but its hard to get seen as an artist on it these days and platforms algorithms are hard to keep up with. Because of that I started doing YT now to make videos of my art and because its stood the test of time im putting my efforts here for now.
Consistency is key. I'm trying so hard to work on this but my problem is fighting with myself on what to post. But honestly I've seen people just post videos of them drawing daily and their killing it! I'm a major overthinker lol it's my biggest flaw as an artist and person along with the imposter syndrome/comparison game.
😂 LOVE everything about this video - very informative & parts made me laugh. I have watched you for at least the last year and have gained so very much from your videos, from learning digital art platforms to actually making money off of my artwork. At the same time, I have wanted to comment so very many times on your videos but haven't because I thought - he doesn't have time to be reading all this crap from people. But now I know it actually helps you, whether it's a meaningless comment, a critique or what I've wanted to post so many times ----- a big THANK YOU for all of your videos, long or short!! Also, even though I have already seen a lot of the shorts you posted throughout February, or at least parts of the information in them, I have gained a lot from seeing it again. So, your experiment was successful & valuable, not only to you but to so many of your viewers. Again, thank you! 🙏 You are a truly gifted individual who is not afraid to share what you know with the rest of the world.
Filming and editing is really the reason why i've been discouraged to post, reels really made things more complicated when before i could just take picture (before digital art) or just upload directly. Would you be able to share some tips on how to start this process?
The success you gave gained from everything you have done throughout your time on social media is well deserved. Wishing you all the best in the near future 🎉🎉🎉
Great video. I won't personally being making that many shorts or reels only because I find it exhausting. But I definitely see the value in for those who want to grow. And that tip about intentionally making a mistake to get comments works really well. I accidentally called the nostrils the eyes in a sculpture and I didn't hear the end of it 😂
Amazing video mate! Huge help. Does anyone ever have that thing where you are about to post and Instagram has added some kind of weird filter on it? Also once it’s uploaded your video is all zoomed in out of no where? Gutting when that happens haha!
I thought I was following you days ago, but it turns out I just left my tab open lmao! This is really insightful! Thank you so much for creating this video for us. Personally, I love the long videos when I'm in a learning kick (which is often) otherwise, the shortform stuff is great for a quick fix, haha!
Great experiment! I’ve been testing out with Instagram and RUclips for shorts and reels recently. Seeing your large base of results, it makes me more willing to keep it up with the experiment ! ❤❤❤ Thanks you for all the way good content you’ve been making. Love , from HK
Hello there! I have just purchased one of your brush sets and really want to buy them all but first I wanted to ask if you can help me by showing us a video tut how you have your Apple Pencil setup with Procreate on iPad Pro. I love your drawings and I’m new to Procreate, and I can’t seem to feel the pencil drawing smoothly like you do . I don’t know if you know what I mean lol. Hope to hear from ya . Thx!
Great tips.. although, social media now a days prefers to push simple and easy artworks.. which is a sad state for someone filming artworks which takes hours to create only to get handful of views..
great information- I've been trying to increase my Instagram presence. At this point I'm seeing the most positive results for my art on Facebook. I think that says something about my age. LOL. 2023 goal for my art business is doing more videos and you have confirmed that need. Thank you
Very clever! Also, I don’t have twitter, so I’m curious for your opinion as to why twitter performed so poorly (relatively). Is it that not as many people are on twitter anymore, art content is not big on that platform in general, or something else? Loved the video! Looking forward to more videos from this experiment!
I think Twitter is less geared towards the type of art content I posted…Twitter Blue/ paying for the check mark and visibility also play a role in the algorithm and getting your posts seen by accounts that don’t follow you already (this will only get worse once the “For You” tab only shows posts from Twitter Blue accounts starting on April 15th.)
That’s so funny you’ve intentionally made mistakes to see if people will comment 😂 I appreciate you and your videos, you are who got me into digital drawing ❤
I found this video extremely valuable, so thank you so much! I mostly post art content on Instagram, but I’m starting to put some time into Pinterest. Do you have any thoughts you can post on Pinterest at some time? I appreciate you.
I only have an instagram that cross posts to my FB, looks like I need to start a twitter, possibly a Tik Tok, and posting short videos to youtube as well. Does age of account effect the algorithm? I've been posting to my personal account but it was inactive for over a year, and I had been debating starting a new account with no followers, and seeing what happens. Thanks for all the work man, it's been really helpful for someone who has never touched any form of digital art before. Really apprecate everyrthing!
I'm posting my procreate time lapses as reels on Instagram. I spent hours and hours working on an artwork where I put my heart and life experience into and then..... It just disappears. I don't have an audience, hashtags don't help, my reel is probably not mainstream and interesting enough, the Millennial time of speedpaints is over if not cut in hundred pieces from 50 angles. I just want to post art and connect with a few people. But all social media and trying to be consistent with it does to me is it brings back depression and inferiority complex. I know my art and skill doesn't suck, but I refuse to sell my soul just for more clicks. It would be nice to have an audience but at this point, everything just feels so shallow. I want to quit it all together once again and just give up on the idea i could make a small income on art.
I love Instagram reels. Some are funny. But I noticed the people that do cooking reels get a lot of negative comments from people telling them they’re doing something wrong. Any kind of instructional video there are people telling them of their mistakes. 😝
Gosh, I did not see the whole video before I posted my comment, then realized you said that on purpose ... I jumped on it to point out your 'mistake'. Damn! You're good, got me! ;-)))))
@@BeeJayDeL Thats crazy high! Congrats and thanks for the insights! It's made me rethink how I'm approaching my page for sure! hopefully I can see the success you did!
Pssssh, 45 second videos....noob. Casey Neistat makes feature length films everyday. Produces his own soundtrack, runs 127 miles, and pours a glass of almonds every day between 2:00 and 2:07:08. Compare thyself and despair!
@@BeeJayDeL yeh im finding it so hard, and the thought of making reels gives me a headache 😅 im just too lazy to be honest. But this video has definitely helped thats for sure 👍
What's your favorite platform for sharing your art? YT? IG? TikTok? FB? Twitter?
Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest. Sometimes Twitter too.

Sometimes it does take getting out of your head and just throwing stuff out there to see what sticks.
@@BeeJayDeL I agree with this. Im at that stage where Im trying many different things and just trying to figure out works for my art.
Same here😂… what’s your acc? Need to see your art.

Practical advice , thanks man!! Also trolling the trolls for comments pretty funny dude 🤣
Hey…might as well use it, right?!? 🤣
What type of tablet are you using if you don’t mind me asking?
Would be keen to se how make your reels? Thanks for sharing this experiment!

No secret settings to share…pressure sensitivity is Procreate’s default setting…just takes practice and getting the feel for it.
I could watch these videos 25/7.
Hahaha! 😉😉😉
Me too!!!
U paid close attention😂
Some really great advice Beejay. Taking notes 📝 😅

Great vid for begginers like me, keep it up
now how do you edit the reels and make them the way you want to especially for Anime Art

Bro! Everyone knows there's 52 weeks in a year, just like there's 52 States in the US. Geesh! 😉

I guess this works for somebody who creates "cute" creatures. But maybe I'm just not meeting my audience. Who knows.
This is insane to see! Were you able to see what the max Watch time was (on average) for each video?
On YT you can see retention…lowest one was 53% and highest was 91%….most were in 70s

I prefer it for that same reason!
I made a low effort reel in 2 min on ig yesterday and it got 11k views overnight. I had 200 followers and I gained 20.
Nice!!! 👏👏👏
