I'm about to do my 150th on Dec 16. My initial goal was to show up and not have a panic attack from social anxiety. I started back in May 2015 and over the years there's been injuries and illnesses keeping me away for chunks of time, but then when it's all over I come back to parkrun. It's always there waiting.
@@katrinajohnson4101 it is a free timed 5km event in parks around the world every Saturday morning. Not every country has it, so you might have to do a search and see if you have one near you.
Welcome to the club! I also did my first ever parkrun in 2013. I used to do group runs organised by a popular apparel brand and did 3km once a week. This was until I heard about this parkrun thing that was started in the UK and was brought to my country. I signed up and started my journey. Fast forward to today and I'm only at just over 200 parkruns. I have friends I made back in 2013 who are at 400+ already. Along the years I ramped up my mileage and became a marathon runner. In my country you have to belong to a run club to enter a full marathon so I joined one. Unfortunately my group long runs were on Saturdays so I missed many parkruns. This year I made my return and vowed to make it to every parkrun, and managed to do that. My long runs included running to a parkrun 5k or 10k from home (I have a lot to choose from!), doing the parkrun, then running back home. This way I get my run credits and still do the mileage. This may be an option for you or anyone while training for a race? My nearest parkrun is around 2km, but that would mean I would have to run loops around the park before and possibly afterwards too. I can't do that. I keep loops for intervals.
I need to share this story and hope it reaches Anna. I was in the process of losing 245 pounds a few years ago. I started running to help lose weight. When I started running, I saw some other videos. The one that inspired me the most was her running the half marathon. It inspired me to sign up for one. Best decision ever. I have since run 8 halves and six marathons. Also joined a run group and I get out six days a week. Anna’s emotion sold me on running and signing up for distance races. It changed my life!
Just completed my 500th a couple of weeks ago. I can honestly say it has changed my life for the better. Super chuffed to get to 500 , well done on the 100th
Congratulations Anna! I've done a grand total of one. It was in Hexham when we were in England last Summer and it was one of the most enjoyable runs I've ever had. Hope you and I both have many more.
Congrats Anna great achievement...im presently sitting on 315 parkruns..love the atmosphere and the community...Every milestone is an away day we travel far and wide in large numbers to celebrate and descend on a pub in that area for breakfast afterwards...great fun on a Saturday morning 🙂
I was meant to be doing #50 on Saturday. I was up in Newcastle for work. I'd got everything planned and all of them got cancelled due to the icy conditions. Such a shame. So now I'll need to re-plan for another time!
Congrats on 100 Anna! My wife and started Parkruns in June 2022 (my first time ever doing a 5k run). I’m on 68 now and should hit 100 by next summer. It gets hard in our Canadian winters to do every weekend… not fun running in a foot of fresh snow (on top of 2’ of packed snow) and -30! We’re in Bermuda for a week this winter and we’re bummed we can’t do a Parkrun while we’re there, we’ve never done Parkrun tourism as the next closest to us is 150km away (plus we have 5 kids, and not a lot of free time)!
Well done Anna and with all the rubbish that is happening in the world - we should be all so grateful of this little gift on a Saturday morning which doesn't cost us a penny.
Congratulations Anna! You are such an inspiration. I just did Parkrun #96 so I’m right behind you 😊. The Parkrun community has been a key component of my running adventures. I just wish they were more popular in Canada, where I am.
HUGE CONGRATS Anna!! Did my 250th in September, only took me 12 years to get there haha. I live in Newcastle so have done WB quite a few times too. Hilly but a nice course. Take care x
Well done on your 100 milestone Anna! - I discovered parkrun on 29th October last year - I have now done 56 of them, including 50 so far this year, over 21 locations! - It has changed me and was my gateway drug into running. I now run for a running club, have completed 5 half marathons this year and I'm about to start training for my first full marathon. I have managed to get a good friend hooked too, also via parkrun and he has now also joined our running club too. The amazing people involved every week are inspirational and it is just the most positive way to start the weekend - Hopefully I can join you in the 100 club at some point in 2024 :)
Well done Anna 👏👏👏 At parkrun, a lady behind me was chatting to her friend and said she’d just done her 100th parkrun. I turned make congratulated her and said “when you’ve completed your 100th parkrun, it feels like you’ve arrived” 😀 Having said that, I do view people in the green shirts with envy 🙈
Congratulations, Anna! You convey the sense of community very well in your videos. They made me periodically check if there are any parkruns around here. Alas, no.
Well done Anna! I did my first parkrun in 2013 too and I’m only on about 57! It’s harder than people think to reach those milestones! Congrats on 100 🎉
