I’ve heard Dana’s stories like a million times by now, let Will talk!
I don’t want them formal & scripted, I want them to be their natural selves.
It’s called Fly on The Wall for a reason.
@LollieVox Exactly! Thank you! All these little critics and this podcast lets us drop in on their conversations. Its great.
Last Man on Earth is one of my all-time favorite series'. It's one you can watch over and ever. Only wish it had gotten another season or two.
I'm in season 2 watching on Hulu. It's very good but quirky a bit in a good way.
Wow, I was thinking Will Forte would be a great guest, and here he is. Thanks guys!
We need a part 2 here. This was 80% Dana. Love Dana…but we need more Will Forte. So much more to discuss. His audition routine alone needs to be discussed. The funniest audition ever.
It was like that with Fred Armisen as well. Dana is my favorite SNL player but it was a bit frustrating because Will and Fred's era was one of the best. More time is needed for these conversations but as a longtime SNL fan, I'm glad we at least get this.
Dana is often annoying with his ability to make 80% of episodes about himself. Even his questions are often a set-up for an opportunity to talk about his own experiences.
Oh noooo😩I’m just starting the ep and now not looking forward to it
@@HighFeeline it always going to be good anyway. They all are so funny. I just want a part 2
@@scottcastro9383 I like them just being themselves. It’s called Fly on The Wall.
I want to know how they are in person… just human. Funny humans.
One of my favorite episodes. I love you guys. Please get Tim Robinson on the show!
And let him talk 😂
Out of all the SNL members, I was waiting for Will Forte to be on here some day! What a treat!
One of my favorite bits Will did on SNL was The Falconer. I'll catch myself every once in a while saying, "Oh Donald there is nothing on tv tonight. What we will do?.......That is a great idea Donald. You are such a good and faithful friend".
I wish Norm could have made one of these.
…sigh… Dana dragging any topic bk to a Him Story. David wrestled 1 away from him + brought it bk to Will. Good work David.
Agreed.
There’s almost too much greatness in this podcast at once.
Thanks so much for making this means the world and makes living just a little bit better to hear you guys reminisce about great and mediocre old memories lol.
Blessings
I know right?? ❤❤❤
Forte is gold.
Dana we love ya but let the guests talk lol
I love how spade is so blown away hearing a story Dana has told a hundred times on the podcast.
Will Forte one of my favorite SNL cast members! "The Falconer" and the "oh no!" guy were great hahahah
Last Man on Earth is one of the best shows ever & should not have been cancelled
That show is a great tutorial on why NOT to lie. He gets in trouble so much on that show for just lying.
Forte on Tim and Eric are some of the most brilliant and insane sketches.
WHO PUT THESE HOLES IN MY BELT?!?!!
Love both of these guys. Geniuses. Love the podcast. It's so funny though that the guest basically has to apologize for interrupting in order to talk or respond. " I'm sorry!, I was just gonna say.." It's no joke how little they think abt just asking some basic questions and... letting the guest actually speak one or 2 full sentences. It's becoming mind boggling. The Shane ep was reeeaaaallly hard to listen to.
I dont wanna bash these guys as I like their work but if I were a podcast host I would probably put in a little more effort and actually go through their work. Last man on earth that was such a unique and entertaining show, why do I get the feeling these guys wouldnt watch it in a million years? Macgruber tv show again two seasons have been out for a while great show, do these guys care at all?
@@leob4403I prefer the natural unscripted style of “fly on the wall”.
@@LollieVox so you would have a podcast where you interview guests where you have no clue whatsoever about their work?
This podcast is a great reminder that everyone gets starstruck. No matter how popular they may be, they're still human.
Great guest! Now let him talk, Dana. Jeezuz you can’t stop talking about yourself and we’ve all heard your stories. Love Will!
Oh and of course please always discuss headwound Harry. Can I get sum!
@@Tkramer27is Dana becoming that grampa that keeps telling the same stories over and over to his grandchildren? "Did you ever hear about headwound harry children?" Yeees grampa only a million times 😭
Neither can David. I think they’re afraid to do the things that make them funny. Impressions and jokes. They’re so tied to the format of randomness that it hurts the show
@@jjgreen5206 yeah they should play to their strenghts, they are not Conan nor will they ever be. They need to structure the interviews a lot better, it seems they go in with a few mental notes and thats it. If the interview loses track and meanders away they have literally no way of bringing it back. They are like "heres a few sketches you were in you want to talk about any of them? No? Well okey I got nothing then. Let me tell you about my sketches instead". There are very few people that can rely on their personality and knowledge recall to an extent that they dont need to do much prep work, and these guys arent among those few
@@leob4403they are just being themselves & we are just the fly on the wall- you don’t play to the fly…
These podcast are a needed vacation from the news.
Instant fast forward if Dana starts playing guitar and singing
Well, he brought up church lady, everyone drink!
Dana tells his story every episode as if he’s never told it.
I love Dana , but it's gettin old
Same stories every podcast
We know, Mickey Rooney was a D Bag
You did a movie with Kirk Douglas
Carson got mad
There's gotta be more to talk about
It’s called Fly on the wall, personally I like hearing how each guest reacts to them- ❤
@@johngrayatkinson1214I like how they are being their natural selves. It shows what they are really like. I love that
The person they’re talking to (guest) hasn’t heard the stories. They’re not talking to you/us (we’re the fly on the wall).
U need time stamps guysssss
Please have on Dan Akroyd, thank you!
and let him talk!
I understand it’s a “conversation” but god how many times do I have to hear about Prince being on an anniversary show
Awesome show thank u all do much
If they cut this podcast down to the amount of time the guest is allowed to speak, each episode would be 5 minutes long.
If Will had never done anything else but the movie "Nebraska" I would still be a fan forever.
Tim Robbins anytime soon?
And also Tim Robinson
Great episode!
Will Forte. Never heard of this guy before but since listening to this podcast he's now in my news feed. The AI literally can't bridge my love of "A futile and stupid gesture" because I quit Netflix for 2 years and only pay for the ad version now. You old-school SNL peeps had it made back in the cable days.
So cool to hear you talk about Jack Handy- love his books
The new macgruber show was so damn funny. His one liners are so crude, dumb and perfect. You gotta see the scene where he’s rigged his warehouse with traps
I like how they change the words to McGruber to fit the situation - McGruber! His co-workers are buzzing about his incompetence - McGruber! the guy’s a frigging genius, McGruber!
Will is in my top 15 favorite cast members. Big fan!
He's in your top 15. So, 15th fave of a single TV shows. you sir, are not a 'big fan'.
@@topsuperseven7910 “…in my top 15”, ma’am. I didn’t say where he was placed. Will could be number 1 for all you know. Go back to tending your anal warts.
Love this guy! He's in my top 12.7 million people on earth!
Just watched the Fred Savage SNL ep. Kevin Nealon doing the news from 10ft. away made me laugh so damn hard.
How was fly high Duluth not mentioned
I was never much of a Will Forte fan on SNL but he was fantastic in Nebraska. A great piece of work.
liked this one, forte can actually pass as a 3rd host for this podcast if they ever go for it.
This podcast needs to have video
Will Forte is a wicked snowboarder !
Comedians to me are a lot like music in that the stuff that I end up connecting with the most didn’t sit well with me at first. Forte is one of those. He irritated me the first few times I saw him and now I think he’s one of the funniest. He’s also an incredible actor. For anyone wanting to check out his dramatic acting chops watch sweet tooth
So excited to find this Podcast!! David and Dana are my all time favorites!!! ( along with a few others)I don't know why but when I was younger I used to mix them 2 up. Lol . Always thought they should do something together. I'm here for it!!!!🎉🎊🎉🎊🎉. SO FUN/FUNNY , Yay!!!!🙌💙💙💓. Love Will Forte!! Thanks for having him on💙 Love you guys💖💖. I've been watching SNL since I was 14. I'm 61 now. 😊. I loved Aykroyd and Curtain doing the news. My mom said something to me and I said, mom, you ignorant slut( in Aykroyd voice)!!! 🏃I started running for my life screaming , I saw it on Saturday Night Live!!!! 😂. By the way whenever I'm cooking Broccoli, I always sing, chopping Broccoli!😆🎤🎵. Church Lady is my favorite ever!!
My favorite -podcast.. Great job all!
Grape soda!
Forte is so F-ckin funny.
Thank you for making me laugh in like the first eight minutes I feel like both of you two knuckleheads are my older brothers but actually I'm fifty-two so I think me and the guy with the mullet are somewhere around the same age but that's okay I still love you... The other guy what's your name again? Anyway we started singing dead or alive and then the sound effect came in and the three chairs spun around omigosh that was just a busted on that one man you are so quick, with the plan ahead in the line it's like instant comedy to destroy off-the-cuff like both of you guys do but the Casey kasem come on that's the million-dollar voice right they're welcome to the top 100 hits
I once saw MacGyver at a Ralph's in Malibu. He was fully denimd out and had a shopping cart filled to the top with nothing but tupperwear. Very strange. What the hell did he need all that tupperwear for! It has tormented me for 15 years! I need to know!
He needs tupperware to store his gadgets and a lot of bubble gum, always use bubble gum to get out of a sticky situation
I really find Dana and David funny, but I wish they would just relax and stop talking over their guests. Ask a question, then allow the guest to complete their thought. Also Dana’s impressions make the show enjoyable, but for some reason he doesn’t want to use them. David is great with his cutting wit and snarky putdowns, he should get back to that. Long drawn out personal stories, aren’t these guys talent. Dana was epic on SmartLess.
Except the Lorne Michaels impression which they do over and over and over to the point that Im completely sick of hearing it anymore
@@leob4403 I agree, Dana has a million other good ones he could do.
Guys. Interview Wally
"I'm such big fans of you guys". This guy doesn't refer to himself as the first, or even the third person - he thinks he's plural. 😂
Will Forge was awesome on 30 Rock!!! Love the podcast but Dana and David speak more than the guest.
Is there any video or just audio?
Please, Will, bring back Last Man on Earth!!!
How theyre gonna get funding for it, crowdfunding?
@@leob4403 streaming opens up new possibilities
Clearly they havent seen the McGruber movie. The whole show would've been about those jokes. They're right up Dana's alley.
Dude no macgruber no no we have to talk about headwound harry and church lady AGAIN
I'm pretty sure Will Forte never broke during an SNL sketch. I don't know if I can say that for any other cast members. Comment below if you beg to differ.
Phil hartman?
@@leob4403 ooh good one. Never saw him break either!
@@janehex chris farley? That guy was crazy committed
@@leob4403 I'm trying to remember if he broke when his pants fell down during a sketch (everyone else sure did). But yes, an almost unheard of occurrence.
@@janehex also chris parnell was known as the ice man apparently because he didnt break
David Bowie story timestamp: 40:40
Yahoo news just had a story about this (David and Bowie) like it was "new" this was the 3rd time I heard David tell that story. Lol
oooooo Will Forte night.
A friendly guy to extras on Macgruber. Hope he comes back.
Will reminds me of Dana's character Lyle, the E.H.
I was gonna say Olivia's his beard but they have a child! -- Or is it that he commits _that_ hard to a part?
Why don't you put the video of these?
1:09:28
First like, first view, first refresh. FIRST FIRST FIRST! Simply the best! ME ME ME ME!!!
6:15 6:15 6:15 6:15 6:15
Magrueber👌
Need video please 🙏 so easy to do
Does anyone else think Will could have nailed Dana’s SNL character Lyle?
At least get one of those courtroom artists, maybe have them sketch 3 portrayals of different points in each episode and we'll pretend your mouths are moving. Also, consider adding a kazoo and slide whistle or hiring Michael Winslow just to add some layers to the barren 2D landscape of pure voice-on-voice.
Tim Calhoun!
@50:36 lol. What was that? Gulp talk.
contractually obligated should be morphed into one word "controbligated"
Guys see if you can get Shaq!
Forte is a comedy genius. He helped SNL stay relevant for a few seasons longer.
Will forte is so funny
I wonder if Dana is aware all his musical intros are the same.
I tried but can't finish. Dana isn't inserting himself in everything, he's ramming in today. It's too effing hot for that shit. Just tie-up David, disconnect Will already and talk about you you you.
Will sounds sweet as a MF!
Is Dana just interviewing Lyle???
Clancy T. Bachleratt
Ok boomers it's time to get some cameras
there was a bit in one of the police academy movies (2 maybe?) basically that was similar to Dana's military haircut story: ruclips.net/video/84QzVPA3rrY/видео.html
MACGRUBER!!!
i may be in the minority here, but Will Forte is the greatest actor there ever was. not being sarcastic. when he commits, he fully commits.
I don't know if my gaydar is off but.........
Well, Corky St. Claire was straight, so you never know.
Lol not off he sounds suuper gay
Dude is 53, but looks 37, well maybe 38.
IF YOU HAVE ASHTON FLUCKIN KUTCHER ON, AND NOT JACK HANDEY, IM OUT...
Dana. David. You need to talk less and listen more. Stop show boating. Seriously!
Comedy might be his Forte.
Well... actually it is. 👍
Oh Christ, I get it! You should do comedy!
Stop talking , Dana! Learned nothing about Will.
This is why I stopped listening to Adam carolla. Let your guests talk.
It would be nice if Dana stopped speaking occasionally.
Just came here to see if you started doing this as video yet. You haven't so I will keep checking and actually WATCH one when you do. Let us know when you finally invest in a couple cameras.
So I have an inquiry.
I had just listened to this entire episode in podcast form and was kinda confused why he was on the show now.
So on the podcast pages version of the episode it states that this was recorded prior to the SAG-AFTRA strike currently happening.
Which would place this recording before May of this year. I suppose the only (Hollywood) reason to have him on in August would be to promote Strays, an upcoming film he’s in, but they never mention it once and also they talk briefly about MacGruber the Peacock series as if it’s recent?
The language used about the show makes it sound like it happened more recently than late 2021. I don’t know, they definitely don’t need a reason other than they’d like to talk to Will Forte and he’s an SNL alum but usually the show has an ulterior motive for the guest to be on, even if it doesn’t get pushed very hard always, some kind of project gets mentioned.
Anyways great episode!
This could be one that they recorded and just never released
Guys...again. You have to let the guest talk.
