    I do have an old pair of scalloped/scalloped scissors! Didn't even realize it. They were inherited from my grandmother's sewing kit.

    I just bought early Schildkrot doll with celluloid head, composite (i think) forearms and kidskin leather body. So using cream of tartar to vlean that leather is a mind-blowing idea for me. Thank you!

    My heart was beating real fast too. It brought memories of me getting this terrible glue off a "Frankenstein" doll of a French kid body to a S&H head and there were those scallops underneath. I had found no research (1985) on how to do it, so I asked a shoemaker for tips. Saddlesoap, not sure if that was good to use, did wonders at softening the leather up stiffened from the glue, it seemed like bookbinder glue almost like a hard dark yellow glassy mess. Unfortunately we are not sure where they are, the body and the head with a new Seeley composition body.
    Linda is my kind of lady! Patience works miracles.

    When you have tape that you need to remove, try heating the area with a blow dryer, or spreading alcohol over it with a Q-Tip.

    Cream of tartar is used to stabilize egg (meringue) and is available in the supermarket near the baking powder and baking soda.

    Since the patch shows I was thinking of cutting a heart shape for the patch or a scalloped edge shape?

    • @RachelHoffmanDolls

      Carmen Colon Thank you! And yes, just the leather part. The rest is attached with nails to a wood rod in the middle of the shoulder plate.

      @@RachelHoffmanDolls I have some leather bodies but this are modern. No sure but they are Seeley and the arms are continue leather .I think it will go under the shoulder plate and a cross the leather body. Would like to see how do you paint composition body. I have this two Bru the color of slip is chocolate that I rescued no bodies for them. It just so frustrating . Tons of heads without body parts🤔.

      Not sure where you were in the video. We used Boost, 911, and Perk which we have sold out of. Otherwise, this powder is cream of tartar

      @@RachelHoffmanDolls ah yes, the part where I forget to use my words - ha ha! She had some kind of liquid she was using to clean the stains from the Bru's leather body before she used the cream of tartar. I just got a leather body French fashion that is SO filthy, poor dear needs a GOOD cleaning. The good news is that the body seems quite sturdy.

    So sewing the doll isn't right? It's better to patch with kid gloves

    • @RachelHoffmanDolls
      @RachelHoffmanDolls  Год назад

      We’ve done both. It totally depends on the type of rip/damage and the condition of the body. Sometimes the leather isn’t strong enough to sew and a patch is better.
