    Love your live tutorials! I have the smallest wrestler bodied doll I’ve ever seen, she is about 4.5 inches high and marked 5020

    Thanks for tge this Linda. I just finished about 10 hours working on this old human hair wig for a heubach Pinkie doll. So much glue to remove but taking my time paid off.

    I learn something every time. I had no idea “peg” was a thing. I have a vintage doll that when her leg fell off I wondered who jammed the piece of wood into her hip, lol.

    Thank you! SO easy. I also used a Magic Eraser to loosen the glue.

    What a precious girl. You really should keep her, she is an excellent example to show of what is good restoration work looks like.
    I so hate that glue though there are some that are even thicker and a pita to get off, off bisque is bad, off leather is worse and off vinyl the worst. I used warm water, at the time a hairdryer on low and lots of time and patience. I have always worried if I was doing it right, as I just used commonsense, but Linda confirmed it.

    A white vinegar soak won't hurt the bisque at all and will work beautifully on that glue.

    Help! I’ve an antique bis head doll who’s hair has been glued down so much I’m at a loss on how to remove the wig. I wouldn’t be terribly concerned except her eyes have fallen back in the head. It doesn’t look like there’s any damage other than that. I’m just afraid of damaging her even more. The wig is in fantastic shape, so I’d definitely want to reuse it. Any suggestions? I live in a small town & no local doll hospitals close by. If I wasn’t afraid to ship her to have the eyes repaired it would be no big deal. Shipping could be the end of her pretty face if I did that with the eyes loose. I’ve no idea what to do & I’ve no clue what to do! So any input would be greatly appreciated.

      Have you tried soaking the wig off with a wet paper towel or towel? It will help loosen it.

    Question what if the dolls cloths are glued to the how to you revemove the old dolls without ruining it?

    • @RachelHoffmanDolls
      @RachelHoffmanDolls  7 месяцев назад

      We like to gently soak off the glue and remove it that way. It takes time but warm cloths help loosen the grip on the glue.

      @@RachelHoffmanDolls Hi, Rachel. I love all of your videos! I will try to find that video, because I will be purchasing an AM doll with sealed pate, but her wig is loose (not the doll's original wig, but I will keep it). Dolly is a 390 AM with "3-1/2" also incised at rear of head. Her eyes are loose and rolling around inside her head, according to the seller, who is trying to get rid of the doll. I told the seller not to discard the doll, that I will buy her and figure out how to remove her pate for the purpose of fixing her glass eyes or, if they're broken, replacing her eyes with a similar set of antique glass eyes. I've saved your video on setting an antique doll's glass eyes, but I need first to watch your video on removing the pate. I will not be replacing the pate, but I MUST get inside dolly's head to rescue her eyes! lol Thank you.

    Is there anything I can do to remove a glued on head from an 8” madame alexander doll? And then re-string it?

      For sure! There’s some great tutorials on RUclips that would show this much better than trying to type it out in a comment.

    I have a doll who’s eyelash is coming off. She’s an Ashley Belle knockoff, so she’s not valuable to anyone but me. What’s the best way to fix it? It needs to be repositioned, as well.

    Hi Rachel, I am trying to remove pen ink from a vinyl doll’s face. Any tips? I’ve heard that 10% benzoyl peroxide does the job...

      Dunialex 1 911 formula (we have a sample set in the VDC GIFT SHOP) or a large container is available for purchase from Dolls Part is what I would use.

    Alcohol pads will dissolve the tackiness of the glue.
